There already ARE epics in the cells tage >:( and they're not that big. see, there's 4 types of cell. There's prey, which you can just eat like regular food. Peer, which is just as powerful as you are. Predator, which will attack you if you get near it, and Epic, which will attack you if you get near it, and kill you almost immediately. It also plays music when an epic is chasing you.

@smaug131 All "things" in a 3D space (the ones the player can touch) have something called a "collision hull". It is a simplified version of the model you're trying to get close to, and it tells the game where the boundaries are so you don't literally run into it.

Collision hulls take a lot of power to calculate the more complex the interactions become, so they're mostly very simple boxes or spheres. The larger the model gets (in Spore at least), the more obvious this becomes.
