  • haha my teacher played this today...this shit is great

  • The original version is better

  • @Domino3561 IKR! I <3 TMBG!!!

  • @crazylady2248 I was talking about the original original version, not the one by They might be giants XD

  • I'm trying to sing along, while dancing and watching this video. I'm not doing very well, but I'm having fun.

  • Can someone please tell me why Constantinople got the works? (sarcasm)

  • @Bdawg9891 That's nobody's business but the Turks!

  • Lygos

  • Song came up on a Voltaire Pandora radio station...... This brings back memories from the song, and the show.

  • certain tunes from certain songs

Instanbul not Constantinople (put on the rits)

Even old New York was New Hampsterdam (the tack arabian tune)

umm...... yeah, that's pretty much it. Good song!

  • I nostalgia'd

  • I run round on Assassin's Creed with this in my head, it's sort of a mood killer...

  • all my life istanbul

  • this song saved me in a geography bee in 7th grade

  • i really cry for my generation. i mean, seriously. they listen to people cursing really fast at them with broken english, and look at that, in one im listening to a great song and learning geography.

  • @Musicaljunki Byzantion.

  • @BoxStudioExecutive yes, yes

  • I listen to this when I play Assassins Creed Revelations

  • @USSHomestarRunner So do I ha ha

  • Why they changed it?

The Dutch first settled in what later became New York. Obviously, being from the Netherlands, they named it for Amsterdam. Then, the British decided to take over; after a few Anglo-Dutch Wars the Dutch lost the city and England renamed it New York.

    APUSH FTW :D

  • The beginning sounds like the Gerudo Valley theme from Ocarina of Time.

  • @OcarinaN64 Never noticed that before, but yeah, it does!

  • I wanna go to Constantinople. Can I?

  • @Starix64 NO!

  • @Starix64 NO! but Istanbul is just as good I heard.

  • Comment removed

  • Ist das der neue trailer von Assassin's Creed Revelation ?

  • im learning about constantinople in school and we had a sub who sang that song for us a few days ago. looool

  • Thumbs up if this song is stuck in your head thanks to Assassin's Creed Revelations.

  • @SeanAryk I don't get it. this was from related videos, and not IN Assassin's Creed, Right?

  • @TheLoserBoys

Yeah you are a loser. Turkey was a pawn during the Cold War because it's a weak country with very little power and wisdom.

Plus who would love a country named after a stupid bird. It was a lot cooler back when it was the Ottoman Empire.

  • @thenameless13 You fucker. You just ruined a perfectly nice song for me, because of your stupid and racist comment. You don't know shit about Turkey, and I expect you to be a bit nicer against other countries. It is NOT named after a bird, its a coincidence. Now go back to your mom and cry, and tell her how I owned you. You little bitch. Oh and no, I don't live in Turkey, I'm just sick and tired of all you nerds and their racist comments.

  • @fbjosef

oh yeah, you totally owned me. I'm pretty sure the only one you insulted was yourself for even attempting to own me. Nonetheless, I like how you didn't touch on the fact that it's a powerless country since it in fact was a pawn in the cold war. The only way to bring profit into Turkey was to bitch out and suck the US' dick and allow the US to put their bombs/missiles in their country.

  • @thenameless13 The song is funny, guy.... or you could turn this into your bitter little rant party that no one f-in cares about. Your choice.

  • Lol WTF am I watching right now?

  • İ am from istanbul. And guys istanbul is not dessert or in istanbul people wears normal hats. Not that kind thing. And we are not listening arabic songs. İ am listenin' metal and punk rock and i am an atheist. İ am very proud to bein' a turk. Turks have unlimited power and wisdom. İf you dont believe me , search about MUSTAFA KEMAL ATATURK and what he is done in World War 1 .

  • Nobody's business but the Turks... And Chuck Norris.

  • That little part at 0:08 reminded me of 'Gerudo Valley' for N64's Zelda: Ocarina of time. xD

  • @OtakuEmma hell yah ocarina of time

  • yeah song is good,i love that, but camels in istanbul? seriously? very funny from their views i guess...

  • Republic of Turkey is Unlimited

  • Ottoman Empire 1299-1923

    Republic of Turkey 1923-?

  • Istanbul, not Byzantium.

  • I swear, They Might Be Giants has a way of getting EVERY SONG I listen to by them stuck in my head for a week (at least). All this week I've had Roy G Biv and now I guess I't Instanbul's turn.

  • my teacher played this song and got it stuck in my head

  • this is a catchy song

  • I shall play this in November when Ezio Auditore takes his final journey.

  • I play this while gunning down the hordes in Serious Sam.

  • Those 25 people must be dicks.

  • @jorarl or rather, 26 ._.

  • come on @gibsonlover123

it's used to be constantinople but it has been istanbul for more than 600 years.

  • this song probably offends greeks...constantinople, not istanbul

  • Its amazing that i am continually entertained by this song, regardless of the fact that it has to do with school.

  • press 6 for eeeeyyy!

  • Nice To Listen And Chill While Cruising Around In A Car

  • I can only imagine when the internet is lost forever if anyone ever found a treasure map for new Amsterdam or Constantinople.

Anyone else notice that the violin/fiddle sounds like the Gerudo theme?

  • @kamilierikos And how do you tell Turks that you are friendly when you are denying the name they've been using since they rightfully conquered the city? Your logic is tragically flawed.

  • This "video" from Tiny toon Adventures has always gave me the sudden urge to play Capcom's Strider for some reason.

  • I miss Tiny Toons....

  • I'm hearin' Gerudo Valley in this song. Lol

  • HaHa, was in istanbul on business recently and this song kept popping in to my head. Actually I really prefer constantinopal too. But either way its an interesting city.

  • there are no camels and deserts in Turkey, and never has been.just sayin'...

  • @tutuzella introduces Tut to Universeman (and tut is smushed for killing the joke )

    ROFL

    (the particle man song )

    youtube.com/watch?v=HPDTdtEUePU

  • Lol @ 1:35 Hampton and Plucky dressed as Flans and Linell.

  • and this is where my fandom began. :)

  • I always liked how constantinople sounded better and for some reason this song was om raising hope

  • they put istanbul in the middle of a fckn desert .. for god sake there is fckn bosphorus whic is seperates the city .. blacksea covers from the north , marmara from the south .. and also there re forest from the both side east and west .. and 1000s of gardens around the city .. istanbul was famous with the tulip gardens in 16th century..

what about the camels ??? who the fck did tell u about those camels in istanbul ? even my father and his father couldnt see them more then once is their life

  • 21 people forgot Constantinople

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of Hank Green.

  • this song was played in my class and its stuck in my head til this day! every time somebody says Constantinople or istanbul I burst into random song lol

  • When your AP World History teacher tries to teach about Istanbul and the whole class starts singing this.

  • @PaintMeInSunshine

    Mrs. Lefebvres??????????

  • @nickeftink errr no..

I have a male teacher lol

  • @PaintMeInSunshine LMAO YOU READ MY CLASS

  • @PaintMeInSunshine oh that is CLASSIC!

  • @PaintMeInSunshine

I sang this song and got her to show it to us.

  • @PaintMeInSunshine Our history teacher mentioned this song and I was the only one who got it. Then again, we were 12, and it was 2011.

  • @PaintMeInSunshine Bitch, my AP World History teacher played this song for the class when we were learning about Istanbul.

  • This both makes me want to get into They Might Be Giants, and watch this full cartoon.

  • When I went to istanbul my 5 year old brother threw up in the Hagia Sophia.

  • 21 people are still Constantinople

  • Turks are cool-

  • TURKS AREN'T ARAB. STUPIDS!

  • @Sikerge well, duh. But the video's stil cute.

  • Comment removed

  • There isn't never camel and desert in Turkey. We don't wear fez. Turks are not Arab.

  • I think they don't know where Istanbul is...

  • Nobody's business but the Young Turks.

  • Those Funny Little People got this song stuck in my head! Aaaahhhh!

  • Thumbs up if "Those Funny Little People" got this stuck in your head...

  • Turkey tastes funny *.*

  • Actually it was officially named ' QONSTANTINIYYAH ' until 1927 when ATATURK finally changed it, but informally it had always been called ' ISTANBUL '.

  • there is no desert in turkey

  • press 5 BAD PIG!

  • Dont look into the eye!

  • Old New York may have once been New Amsterdam, but I bet that New New York has always been what it is.

  • Why in the world would a duck want a human?

  • Because he's badass like that

  • @Shiek927 he doesnt seem to have any idea of how reproduction works lol, wierd fetish

  • this is mine and my dads fav. song ha ha I love it

  • history is written by the conquerers

  • Anyone come here because of raising hope?

  • @Antrix32 yea me :D

  • C O N S T A N T I N O P O L E EVER

  • This song made more sense when Bette Midler did it as Vicky Edie's Around The World in 80 Ways. It is on her live album from the '70's

  • Bu nasıl istanbul amına koyim yaaa

  • why did constantonople get the works thats nobodys business but the turks

  • the memories just flood back.

  • holy shit i remember they made us listen to this in elementary school...

  • This song so uncannily fits right in with the typical repertoire of TMBG, you might mistake it as wholly their own composition. As many fans know already, it is not. But there is little doubt they revived Istanbul from obscurity.

  • I can't decide which is more cartoonish, this version, or the "bad ass russian" version.

  • People just like it better that WAAAAAAAY!

  • 19 people want to go to Constantinople

  • Comment removed

  • AMSTERDAM?

    IM NEW YORK

  • @cavalierfan1995 The City of New York was called New Amsterdam when it was first colonized.

  • @PapaT104 - @cavalierfan1997 was quoting Bill "the Butcher" from Gangs of New York.

    THE MORE YOU KNOW.

  • Omfg. I used to love this song on Dance Dance Revolution. Took me ten minutes to find it. Thank god for Google ;)

  • ms. heisler :D

  • @toothbrushpleasure69 its different for everyone :)

  • @IwantmyMTVback

Nah, just leave it to the Giants. They'll crush 'em good.

  • @IwantmyMTVback And then you are called an asshole for smacking someone for not having the same tastes as you.

  • grat

  • Is it bad that I looked up why it's no longer called Constantinople because of this song?

(İstanbull came from the Greek 'sti̱n póli̱', and it was commonly called Istanbul in normal conversation. In around 1450, give or take a few years, the city was officially renamed İstanbul.)

  • @TheGreatMightyPoo1

hahah BS. Istanbul comes from ISLAMBOL (which means full of Islam in Turkish) since the Ottoman Empire was an Islamic Empire.

  • @spastic505

    Source.

  • @TheGreatMightyPoo1 His butt.

  • @spastic505 Actually, it was commonly called Istanbul first, which comes from the Greek term 'istimbolin', which means 'in the city'. It was, shortly afterwards, referred to as Islambol, (which means lots of Islam, or as you said, full of Islam,) due to the similar sound of the word Istanbul, coupled with the fact that Istanbul was the capital of the Islamic Ottoman empire. So Islambol is actually a sort of pun, or rhyming slang, derived from the word 'Istanbul.'

  • Oh my god this made me laugh so much I hurt. Thank you for best laugh I've had in ages, solclarus

  • @BrianH1988 Wasn't it the original vid? I remember seeing this on Nickelodeon ages ago, when Tiny Toons was still a big deal...

  • @BrianH1988 This is a video from a cartoon show from the 90s called 'Tiny Toon Adventures'. It was made by Warner Brothers animation. Not this solclarus guy.

    Just sayin'.

  • @BrianH1988 this was from tiny tunes its not a fan video the show put the song in the cartoon

  • @BrianH1988 Ummm, it is....XD

Looney Toons did a few music videos with TMBG, including particle man ^_^
