pretend to have any sort of informed opinion. have you ever even tried to make a film, let alone finished one? show us and I will be the first to admit my lack!
Its not that our attitude sucks, its that you decided to call this video a tutorial. By definition, a tutorial is used to teach something. Calling this a "color grading tutorial" and then not really teaching anything is a bit misleading and have led to the "poor attitudes" you have encountered. Nonetheless, I have learned a bit, and was especially amazed by that one scenic shot. Didn't know total time swap was possible post-production! I really believed it was nighttime!
fyi im making you aware of what it can do. color grading is a many step process and not something that can simply be taught in one video. and after all the crappy attitudes I've encountered on youtube, I'm glad I didn't waste my time to help all the thankless mooches.
Wow, your attitude sucks. And your opinion is meaningless, considering the editor has very little to do with the issue of footage sucking. Try being constructive, and someone might actually listen to your advice. And BTW, this video is to show you what is possible, not to be all-inclusive. If you think a five minute video is going to give you an exhaustive tutorial on how to use a grading software, you are naive. Try actually learning by trial like I did, or buying some help you cheap-skates.
all these people leaving these stupid comments. All I have to say to you is, good luck trying to find decent jobs in the industry with your poor attitudes. Someone gives free advice and you cant say one good thing?
"but thanks for the miracle of color, I found a way." Thanks for sharing with us how. Not at all informative. You're just narrating, not illustrating the HOW. Your video description says: "Tutorial." This is NOT a tutorial. just fyi
Thanks huggeebear- that means a lot. i may be getting back up on the color grading bandwagon here soon. just got a new job that might require it. if so I'll look into another video or two
Never mind the Naysayers Benji, I learned a whole heap, that roto is possible in Color and sometimes you have to go to great lengths to get the look you want. I personally would like to see more like this from you, more tutes. Thanks.

¨I learned absolutely nothing¨ . If you´re a beginner, then read some basics tutorials about color correction, learn how to use the ¨tools¨! If you want to color grade something, just use your imagination, be creative and try to make your footage to look good, artistic. There is no mathematical formula for color grading, Be creative, use your talent!
Many folks have no idea as to the work flow of the color grading process. I'm sorry if you did. If you learned nothing, then good for you. Maybe you are taking for granted what you already know. I'd appreciate it if you didn't rashly impose your strong point of views on the rest of us. From the looks of things, apparently there are others who appreciate what information I provided.
I'm sure there are free online tutorials, but I just started at the beginning and worked through issues as they came. Trial by error, essentially. It helps to have an understanding of color science and how hue, saturation and luminance interact, as well as light temperature. I'd recommend taking a class on it at your local college if you don't have any background with it, and get on set with a lighting crew and learn from them.
It reads XMLs so as long as Adobe can export your footage in this format, you're golden. The latest upgrade of Color promises to be more stable than the version I show in the tutorial, older version has lots of issues.. there are workarounds, but hopefully these are solved as they improve the software.
This version of Color would have issues when "sending to color." Best is export XML from FCP then import to Color. Color 1.5 might be more stable, but haven't explored it yet. Color 1 is very finicky- and requires lots of troubleshooting to find workarounds and a predictable MO.
I don't know about the new version of Color, but when I use "send to Color," in Color 1, the program would constantly quit unexpectedly. Hence the workaround, and necessity to export XML. This helps the file stand alone, and prevents the data flaws that cause it to quit unexpectedly. Regardless, it's IMPERATIVE to be constantly saving your work. Color 1 is INSANELY glitchy.
@xonkarate No, you can export an EDL file from Premiere and work with it in Apple Color. You need the original footage in order to conform it with your EDL file.

If it was a pan, you'd be right.. but it's a jib shot. The camera is on a 15 ft. crane.

Shouldnt the moon stay at the same relative image position as the trees, because the camera only is panning?

Where can
I learn from the beginning to use color? Starting from importing the file to learning to make changes or color changes to the imported file?

I edit with Adobe Premiere,
in order to grade color with this software, do I need to export the footage and then import it on this software?
thanks

you don't need to export, you send to color, then send back to Final Cut Pro. It is quite handy
