there was a band names SOMA that played around Montreal in the late 60s early 70s, could it be the same band? I've been looking for them for soo long!! Please anyone let me know.
I was drumming with The Axemen in the 60's when Jackie was just starting to learn his craft. Within a few months he was light years ahead. Knew Richie well when we played in opposing groups and at HWMHS, and had the honour of Frank doing a set with us in Lantz one night. Awesome video...thanx so much for sharing it with us.
I remember when they open up for santana in moncton,,,the drummers for Santana all wanted to know where Jackie learned how to play drums,,,they couldnt believe he was just a natural
This video freaked me out!!! It's 1970 all over again and Train sounds as fresh as if I had just heard it yesterday. Ritchie Oakley, Frank "The Beast" McKay, Donnie on keys, Zipper on bass and Jack "it's all in the wrist" Harris on drums. Ahh sweet youth.
@baconcow I remember seeing Jack Harris in the early 70s playing with SOMA -- still consider him one of the greatest drummers I have ever seen ---we used to say "he plays from the wrist". Great memories of this band.
Here is the B3 and Donnie Dinacat. .Song is called 'The Box" ,and by all means wait for the organ solo at 2min 36 sec .There's the B3 Boom !!!!!!!!

Jackie Harris on drums and Zipper aka Donny Morris.
Jackie was a freak of nature back in the early '70s - nobody played like him. :o)
They did a warm up for Chicago and freaked them out.

Here's a try
Richie Oakley - Guitar
Donnie Muir - Organ/kybds
Frank MAcKay - the biggest undiscovered international rock star of then70's. Still acting and singing - still great
Zipper - bass
Forget drummer's name. Someone will know it. Ginger Baker type of fellow
Pam Marsh singing backup on this.
All of these guys may well have sounded in other bands. Oakely was a great band, Frank's R&B was stellar,
