@BLACKanimebrother well, it's a dimarzio x2n, but you can't quite get the whole picture with guitar rig 3 and a crappy soundcard. not to metion the video compression.
One of periphery's maybe trickiest songs rhythmically. (if there's such a word). You did it damn fuckn good, I am learning this right now and will definitely use this vid :)
ahh ok. im planning on getting a 7 string sometime in the next year or so and i really want to achieve that Periphery tone. I was chatting with Misha before the gig i mentioned and he told me try the Bare Knuckle Nailbombs.
hey man i love this cover. i saw periphery in Toronto a few days ago and it was UNBELIEVABLE! im just curious to know which pickups u have there in the bridge position
the bridge pickup is a dimarzio x2n, and i think i'd be better off with something else.. especially because of the low tuning.. an evo2 perhaps. but now i use a higher tuning on this guitar so it's ok...
@prog2djent Believe it or not, it sure is! I'm using Mega VST 64-bit, Iron Maiden edition. Speakers are Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier PC Speakers, they plug regularly through a "Super HD", and i don't have tower, it's an Alienware Castle actually.
@prog2djent dude, relax.. i thought you were fucking with me.
i used to be a metalhead when i was in highschool, i've grown out of it, and yes - i too share your distaste for "elitists" who think they're so special because they listen to complicated music that "most people don't understand" ..in fact, i thought you might be one of those when you asked me that question, it was obviously a misunderstanding. my apologies.
@IEATMETALHEADS 6 string :D it's an ibanez s470.. and it did a pretty good job handling that tuning.. ofcourse, the action was a bit higher, and the strings looser, but it was ok.. you just have to spend a bit of time finding the perfect setup.
Awesome cover bro, I was just wondering though... I have a pod x3 and I am having some difficulty getting the tone I want out of it ( a djent tone ) for recording. Do you think a soundcard would improve the recording results? If so which would you recommend?
@lxXAxisXxl thanx man! well, i'm probably not the best person to ask this, but i looked it up and it says that the pod x3 has a usb output "for computer recording", so a soundcard shouldn't make much of a difference i suppose.
@lxXAxisXxl Hey man!! Love the cover. Your POD X3 has an inbuilt soundcard so you don't need to buy a new one. Its the best for recording. as far as getting the right tone is concerned , you should just try fking around with the various amp modules. your sure to get a similar tone. Usually the gain is very low for djent tones. Hope this helps you!
@n1n3b1t don't have it anymore, sorry. i use gr4 now, and a different guitar so i made a new preset. and the only way it would sound the same is if we have the same sound cards..
and actually, i'd suggest you try making your own preset.. it takes time but you'll learn a lot about sound and stuff, train your ear, etc.
@Blacknail69 thanx man! well, i used a 7 string set .013 - .059 (D'Addario), and did some tweaking with the neck and bridge. the action was high, but not horribly high :D ..had a bit of problems with intonation but i've dealt with it by playing around with the saddles. that's it, the guitar had a good feel, not perfect though. now i've got a schecter hellraiser C-7 with a floyd rose, muuuuch better, although the 26.5 scale requires more strength :D but i tweaked it almost perfectly so it's ok!
I noticed a few mistakes, I thought the beginning triplets for the 8th fret riff part at 2:04 were always played 008, not 888. Might be just be me. 2:09 is kind of wrong, too.
@MetalcoreGodz haha, thanx :) but i noticed some mistakes since i uploaded it... and well, recording a cover is not nearly as awesome as making a great song like this one :)
you can judge the level of awesomeness when i upload my own stuff :D
@MrChiodo123 thanx :) well, i used a shitty camera, and simultaneously recorded the guitar into cubase. then i sync'd it all up in some video editing program, cant remember the name. deleted it the next day, it was crap :D
3:00 and on is such a sweet part, one of my favourite periphery moments, learned it yesterday and you NAILED it too!

@babbagoose do they have a 7string version of the pickup? idk.. but i'd definitely get a bare knuckle for my 6-string.. just don't know which one :)
ThePathosConstruct 1 year ago
@ThePathosConstruct They do have 7 string Nailbombs. I believe they have almost all of the humbuckers in a 7 string version.

DreamEclipse 1 year ago
@DreamEclipse standard Bb tuning with the 6th string dropped to G#
ThePathosConstruct 1 year ago
@ThePathosConstruct Dude, what string gauge are you using lol? That's crazy.
DreamEclipse 1 year ago
@DreamEclipse i think those strings were from a d'addario standard 7string set, not sure.

@ThePathosConstruct im surprised your 6string guitar has the capacity to withstand that tuning

good stuff man, i know its a seven string but what tuning are you in? cheers
starvingwhale 1 year ago
@starvingwhale this is not a seven string, but they're using them.the tuning here is, from top to bottom - G#, D#, G#, C#, F, A#
it's a dropped A# standard tuning.
on my seven string I have - G#, D#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#
standard sevenstring tuning, a half step down, and the 7th string dropped.
