heres a tip i heard somewhere. if u rake through the lock really slowly, ull here a click, and thats where the sweet spot is near

For PC you can get a UI to show you the exact spot, if you want. It kinda ruins the fun though, but of you don't want skills in lock picking you can use it.

If you are and adventurer and you don't wanna waste time with lockpicks just level up and buy indestructible lockpick perk.

From level 67 I only have a lockpick in my inventory

@RyanCooper101 Nah, it's not worth it, IMO. From my experience, if your lockpicking is that high, master locks should be pretty damn easy (without investing any perk into lockpicking).

@navydayv You can find them in the theives guild lair, i forget the name of the room, but its the door just past the rat waste (sewers) and in that room theres a bunch of beds with chests at the end of them, inside each chest there should be loot with 5 lockpicks each, no worries :)
