I have an 09 civic si and heres my opinion of vtec..yes the technology is great but i hate not having any lower end torque...I feel like im driving a car that has like 100hp when vtec isnt on. but when vtec is kicked in its awesome. they should have lowered the rpm in which it kicks on. yes i know you can buy a hondata chip or whatever it is but why didnt they lower the Rpm right outta the factory...fuel economy?...retarded?...i want it to run on vtec all the time lol
heres y honda doesnt put vtec on in lower rpms even if you have hondata vtec on a switch or anyother gheto shit the valves move really fast and over time running vtec alot puts stress on your valves and they come out of allignment
i doubt that, more lift shouldnt really effect the valves in that sense, the reason they did it is to give it more pop so ppl could actually feel the difference

advancing cam timing is in no way shape or form adjusting the valve lift.
the only one that you mentioned a second time that does infact adjust lift is the Toyota VVTL-i which you spelled incorrectly.
The main difference between VTEC and VVTi is that VVTi maintains the same cam profile and alters only when the valves open and close in relation to engine speed. Ok i drive trucks for a living and i dont see why you would ever double clutch in a regular vehicle...you dont need to. We only do it in big trucks because we have to give the motor time to be at the correct rpm for the correct gear..in sync with the tranny. double clutching in a car would only slow you down
@Molinar04 While I downshift, I usually press the brakes with my toes, then I move my heel over to the gas and press it while my clutch is in and I'm switching down a gear. Double clutching is essentially the same thing but without the brakes being pressed. Think of it as downshifting, but you blip the throttle in the process.

The C6 Z06 Corvette has an average of 25mpg but in fifth, so, it still drowns over gasoline on launch and on the other five gears. The displacement isn't everything on a fast car, and the torque is good but the horsepower over pass it. So, that's the reason 4 bangers still kick some ass because the can't get much torque but they sure can take some ponies out of a 2 liter.
ls1 doesn't know, logic all wrong. Cars in the 70's had better average mpg than cars today - before they didn't need catalytic converters. Our mpg rating today is crap compared to back then. it doesn't matter if its 4banger or v8, how big or how small your car is. If it's fast it's fast hands down so stfu with the import and domestic wars. But on a side note, even the gt-r vspec beat the zr-1 around the ring. Go look around and you can see gt-r 700lbs heavier than corvette, but 25hp less still punches the shit out of that v8 for the same price or cheaper so it doesn't matter as long it's fast

see i like this guy lol...ive been a GM fan my hole life,BUT i drive a 07 SI as my daily driver and have a Camaro project car for weekends cause i dont feel like driving a car that gets 9mpg everyday. the SI is a quick fun car not the fastest thing but its fun as hell to drive.

lol gear ratios? ummm no that does have to do with torque but there not tall as hell gears.... they just dont have that big of displacement... and ok them compare lets say a ls1 f-body with a 5.7 and i average about 25mpg and again if you do the math you should still be gettin over 50mpg easily... lol im just turning it around cuz too many ppl bitch about a 4 clyinder beating a v8 and its less than half the displacement, so im just turning it around on the comparing something else!

The C6 Z06 Corvette has an average of 25mpg but in fifth, so, it still drowns over gasoline on launch and on the other five gears. The displacement isn't everything on a fast car, and the torque is good but the horsepower over pass it. So, that's the reason 4 bangers still kick some ass because the can't get much torque but they sure can take some ponies out of a 2 liter.

ls1 doesn't know, logic all wrong. Cars in the 70's had better average mpg than cars today - before they didn't need catalytic converters. Our mpg rating today is crap compared to back then. So if you do the math the CivicSi shouldn't be getting 50 easily. Also comparing Corvette to Civic? LOL, if you do have a "penis" it must be tucked between your legs or must look like a light switch.
