I can't wait til I get invited to another baby shower so I can make one. :D I love diaper cakes! We bought one for my sister's then as we helped her take it apart saw it'd be so easy and way cheaper t have made one. We could have had SO much more cute things for her if we'd made it ourselves!! LOL. :) Ours had onesies in it for the top tear, wipes hidden inside and lots of different binkies. They used receving blankets and bigger blankets instead of the ribbon a lot of hem use too. Lol.(: Cuute.

I had one given to me when I had my son 23 yrs ago.She used diapers with patterns on them and instead of individual diapers rolled,each diaper was wrapped around the next, then stacked in 3 tiers

I used to make baby rocking cradles using string & sugar water mix to stiffen the string(string is wrapped around balloons as the form for the cradle&popped when dry)It is a complex thing but so cute.Then its filled with all sorts of baby odds & ends Pacifiers,socks,lotions,etc..

I made one for myself last year when I was PG I used burp rags rolled them up and made a small triple decker cake design and pinned lil pink and blue silk type socks all around it to make it look like icing turned out really cute.

( I have been in the beauty industry for many years, however...salons, schools etc) He IS talented and has a good, humble attitude which is a rare find. Question: Do they unwrap it at the shower to see there is the powder, lotion, and baby oil inside? Or do you just tell them because I guess tearing the 'cake' all apart would make a for a big clean up. Also do you wrap the entire 'cake' with paper to unwrap? I have made one for my aunt and we told her what was in side but she just kept it in 'cake' form unti she needed the diapers because she thought it was so cute. Be sure to only but the hot glue on the ribbon not diaper. We didn't wrap it; that's a accident waiting to happen! We just had it at the table at the baby shower and surprised her. I just took it to the shower and it was used as a centerpiece for the table. After everyone ooohed and ahhhed over it, my daughter in law took it all apart and discovered the "goods" inside. Some put baby bottles filled with candy in the center as well.
