Someone commented about the length of the shadow "hands." The gnomon in the center is spear-shaped, so the red hour lights are located on the uppermost ring to shine on the top of the gnomon, shining slightly downward to project a shorter "hand." The minute lights are on the middle ring and the seconds are the lowest ring, striking the fattest part of the gnomon and making a longer shadow.

There are only 30 LED's for seconds, so it advances every two seconds. I just bought one of these kits and I can't wait to get it assembled and running in my office.

Each diode in the LED is at a different place in the led, you would have to angle it to where the blue diode is on top, and the other two where the would make different shadows.
