dude, i live there, i am dutch, he survived i saw it on discovery channel, but the camera broke, if u stand 10 meters from a explosian (a regular shot of a RPG), our blown back, i don't hope this happen agian...
I think the person who filmes this is a very brave person, i think that i would't stand a second when i see fireworks in the sky, i would run for my life. I think that we al must be very hapy that this person was so brave to stand there with his camera, to let the rest of world show this movie
respect for the cameraman, he could have died, fireworks are exploding just a few meters away. very sad that people make fun out of this all, very, verry sad
and what are bombs made of?? fireworks silly. If american TV has taught me anything, its that cars have fuel tanks made of aluminium, with dynamite for wheels, and the army uses sparkly rocket type fireworks to blow up buildings. ;P
actually if yoou want to know, just look at the documentary! just search on youtube discovery channel: enschede,
and the huge explosion was because the factory was storing fireworks that were too powerfull, in a solid bunker, which they were not licenses to store, and the firest explosion started a fire which lit the illegal fireworks in the bunker which exploded, watch the documentary!!!
I have friends that wound up in the hospital for lung poisoning. Although this is one magnificent display of firepower, i still wish it never happened.
I live in Duluth, MN. The annual city fireworks display about 15 years ago was set off from the ground. Well the whole works went up the whole crowd was ingulfed in fireworks I was few blocks away. They been launching them from a area far away from spectators every since. Was cool to see people running from the bombs. Boom Boom ahh ahh
and you are an idiot... both cameramen on that roof were fine.. one has son that is a firefighter.. save your crap... see the 6 deels from discovery channel dopey...
your are an idiot there where 3 cameraen one on this roof he was to close the other 2 were 4 streets behind him just look at the discovery or national geo documentary about this
Watch the documentay again. They clearly state there were two men with videocamera's on the roof. This third "cameraman" was a photographer and he was taking risks by being in the compound close to the fire together with the firemen. After the first explosion one fireman saw him in a house and wanted to rescue him. That is where that fireman got caught under debris in the second explosion.
So, the man filming this footage survived. He even shows in the documentary how he filmed it.
My familie sold this company to the bosses that it had before the fireworks disaster. They were called rudy I believe and another guy. Oh this is not a lie believe me. I know a girl and her uncle died there when he was extinguishing the fire. A little wall fell upon him pretty sad.
Enschede is mine home town. and the camera guy didn't die!! most people were killed in the own homes or just te wrong time on the wrong place bij things flieng around
Firework warehouses storage areas and factories shouldn't be permitted in residential areas;in the UK most firework company premises are well out of the way of residential areas.
Amazingly enough the camera man survived, I just got done watching a Discovery Channel documentary on this and they interviewed him. Actually two men on that roof and they both lived.
the fireworks begon when someone put on a toller (( ore something like that)) in the store,, then the whole store exploded!! if the fire had let the whole Grolsch factory exploded,, noboby could tell the story after it! it was horable

There was one who was prosecuted but then was cleared so it is still not clear who did it. The two chefs of the company were convicted because they used metal bunkers for keeping stuff like mortars instead of concrete bunkers. The 4 fireman on the scene who could have seen something were killed by the explosion so it probably will always be a something of a mystery
Just saw this movie, though it is quite a few years ago now, I still remember it. I lived about 3/4 of a mile from it. From that day I'm still a bit frightend to fireworks...

You mistake numbers. It's an usual mistake in USA. 1 Billion is 1 million of millions (1.000.000.000.000), not 1.000.000.000.

Unabridged (v 1.1) -
bil·lion /ˈbɪlyən/
1. a cardinal number represented in the U.S. by 1 followed by 9 zeros, and in Great Britain by 1 followed by 12 zeros.
