  • That's clever

  • what is the thickness of the board? what type of rubber have you used?

  • @raviloga The board is 9mm thick and the rubber I used was normal table tennis rubber which I bought in bulk from ebay (specifically Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers).

  • Which materials did you use on this, specially the rubber?

    Thanks

  • @Mikedduarte I used normal table tennis rubber which I bought in bulk from ebay.

  • @awesomdanz And how many have you spent?

  • @awesomdanz I spent a total of $165 AUD

  • What was the total cost of rubber? and have you made a "how to Video" yet?

  • @1755ottoman Total cost of rubber was $70. I've been intending to make a 'how to' video but i havn't had the time yet as I am studying at the moment.

  • Perfect forever alone training device

  • How much u pay for 1 side ? nice idea !!! i want to make it but i don't know how i can make it. TT

  • @miichaelip Both boards together cost me $165 AUD so I guess you could probably be able to make one side for around $100.

  • @awesomdanz Thanks 4 ans.

  • @awesomdanz Where did you buy the music stands, and what is the mode? could you tell me the link to their website you bought? Thanks. I have the link to the rubber, and still need to buy the music stands. Thanks.

  • @fishing4living I also got the boards from ebay. w w w.ebay.com.au/itm/Professional-Heavy-Duty-Music-Sheet-Stand-Black-/260874282879?pt=AU_Instrument_Accessories&hash=item3cbd51a77f

  • @awesomdanz Thanks a lot.... I will start the project soon. Thanks.

  • @awesomdanz Thanks. Since you also bought the boards on ebay, could you please give me the link? Thanks.....

  • @fishing4living the boards i actually bought the boards from a local hardware store and cut them out to a size I preferred. I cut them out to be 85cm by 40cm each.

  • @awesomdanz Thanks. I will stop by a local hardware store to find it.

  • @awesomdanz This Link are offline :-(

  • @MhfuForEver the start of the link (world wide web) have spaces between them (w w w) because it doesnt allow me to post it otherwise so when you copy and paste it, just delete the spaces and it should work.

  • @awesomdanz Yes i know xD But thats the problem! The link is offline in ebay -___-

  • @MhfuForEver ummm ok then. In ebay, type in 'heavy duty music stands'. Any of the black heavy duty music stands would work perfectly fine but I bought the music stands from 'ozplaza.living'. These stands are quite easy to customise to our requirements. Good Luck.

  • Hey, Can u tell me where you bought all the stuff u need and how you mounted it to the music stands? Thanks, but what is the wood made of?

  • @Cobbbg1998 l bought all my stuff from ebay. To mount it, you have to get the mount from the music stand that original attaches to the stand and put it on the boards instead.

  • Are these Mic Stand?

  • @rgayda no. they are sheet music stands.

  • WHAT IF I DONT PUT RUBBER SHEETS?

  • @msmuzikera13 The boards will still work without rubber except you wont get the same feel like your playing against someone else. By having rubber, when the ball returns, it will come back with topspin whereas without rubber, the ball will return with no spin. Also its much louder. But it will still work and you could always add rubber later.

  • Many thanks for prompt reply Daniel. I intend to copy these as I feel you have made a really good DIY job on these. If you remember the site on ebay you got the rubber tiles from I would be most grateful. Great work.

    Steve

  • @elliot666666 The actually rubber I bought was from 'Ping Pong World' and the rubbers were '20x Reactor Corbor Pips-In T.T. Rubber/Sponge, NEW'. They were the cheapest I could find and suit the purpose of the boards just fine. Hope that helps.

  • Hi Daniel where did you get the rubber tiles from for the front? Did you use any sponge backing as well?

    Many thanks Steve

  • @elliot666666 hi, the rubber I bought from ebay (was the cheapest I could find but still good quality). The sponge behind it is apart of the rubber sheets, they come as one and al I had to do was glue it on the boards.

  • also what were the dimensions for the block of wood?

  • @baseballguy724 my dimensions are irrelevant unless you have exactly the same music stands as the ones i used. You must look at the way the board attaches to the music stand pole. Then from that, you must figure out a way to attach your new returnboards to it. The block isn't very necessary. I only put it on so I could get a greater angle with the boards.

  • How did you get the block of wood shaped just like the music stand part though? and can i just use like elmers wood glue to glue it on?. thanks

  • @baseballguy724 well, to get the right shape, i sawed the block to roughly the right shape then i sanded it. Any wood glue should be fine

  • What did you use to stick the wood to the music stand? it looks like a piece of wood shaped to fit the music stand, but would i just be able to use a block of wood insead?

  • @baseballguy724 Correct, good observations. A block of wood should be fine. You have to customise the attachment to the type of music stand you have.

  • save money no moving pa rts to wear out nice

  • how thick is the plywood what kind of plywood very nice set up

  • @macdaddy1600 the thickness is 8mm and th type of plywood. The plywood I used was the basic one sold at the local warehouse. Hope that helps.

  • could you also tell me the dimensions of the boards/type of wood used?

  • @baseballguy724 The boards are about 85cm x 40cm each, roughly and the wood used was a think piece of ply wood

  • where did you buy the rubber to put on the boards?

  • @baseballguy724 I got them from ebay.

  • Great

  • clever idea... what do you use to stick the board and the music stand? did you put the screw straight on the board?

  • dude how did you make that? I have a music stand but paper and other stuff doens't work. plz respond

  • @maxk880 you actually have to use plywood or some other light wood and have to replace the board with the frame that holds the sheet music OR an easier way would be to just attach the wood very tightly to the front of board where you put sheet music on. It works best if you stick rubber on top of the wood to get a properly table tennis bat feel. Hope that helped.

  • @awesomdanz Well I didn't really understand it. Maybe you can make a video tutorial? So I have my music holder, I turn it forward, and then?

  • @maxk880 it's really hard to explain. Yerh, I might make a video during the week explaining how I made it and what I used. But keep trying to figure it out.

  • hey man, this is just fantastic. Can I have the name and model of the music stands too?

  • @ravaneli55 Yerh.. cause I got the stands from ebay, it doesnt have a model number. They were just the cheapest ones I could find but they have to be 'Heavy Duty Music Stands' in order to support the weight of the boards. So .. Goodluck.

  • @awesomdanz Thanks, boss. I looked at ebay before I wrote this, but they don't have good pictures, and it is hard to see the tilting ability. The potential problem I fear is that the stand is designed to tilt BACK, while the returning board needs to tilt FORWARD. So I just wanted to make sure I buy stands that can tilt forward. If u can find any information about yours, it would be helpful.

  • @ravaneli55 Yerh, music stands are made to tilt backward and only a little bit forward. Mine only tilt a fraction forward but it is heaps to be able to practise. I've had professionals test it out and they could get no where near the full forward tilt of it. So even though it seems they cant tilt forward much, it still does everything you want it to.

  • Man !!! You're a genius !!!! I was thinking how the hell I'm gonna do a homemade return board. That's it. The strange thing is that I'm saxophone teacher, I see those music stands every day and I didn't though of it. Thank you SOOO much .

Do you know the price of an original Michael Pollack return board ? About 400 euros.

It's too expensive for me, so thanks again for the amazing idea!!!

  • @paulogolin Thank you very much ... hope you have as much joy as I had

  • @awesomdanz did u tested your return board BEFORE gluing the rubbers? I made return boards exactly like your but I still didn't put the rubbers (too expensive to buy this month hehe). They don't work for me ...guess it's the lack of the rubbers. when I play with them reclined to the front the ball hit the board and get down instead of going up and reach the other side of the table.

  • @paulogolin no sorry, i didn't test it before i put the rubber on but in theory, because the boards have no grip without rubber, the spin on the ball can't get grip on the boards so the spin has no effect which is why it rebounds down and not back over the net. The rubbers are very important for the function of these boards.

  • I applaud your ingenuity!! Could you provide the dimensions of the boards and what they are made of? I'm guessing most of the cost was the rubbers. Again, good job. With your help, maybe mine will work out as well.

  • @drwise2 Thank you. The boards are about 85cm x 40cm each, roughly. The board itself is made of a think piece of ply wood and correct, majority of the cost was the rubbers. In total I used 20 sheets of rubber for the two boards. I wish you all the best for your boards as well.

  • Great, great idea! What tripod and adjustable connector is this?

  • @ddoosey well, the stand I use was actually from a music stand. I order 2 heavy duty music stands then I took off the board where the sheet music was put and substitute the return board in it's place. It was almost a like for like swap. There was only some minor modifications that I needed to make.

  • what rubber did you use? great design!

  • @vivoviv Hi, well I used Reactor Carbor Pips-In Rubbers. These are ITTF approved rubbers and they were just the cheapest I could find. For more info on the rubbers, just type '20x Reactor Corbor' in ebay and you will find the exact price and all the stats.

  • thanks for the info will look into it

  • whats the cost

  • @placid21 well ... for both of the boards together, it cost me about $165 AUS.

The ones you can buy from Germany cost $328 AUS (251 Euros) for the basic double model, but my return boards can do the same things as the speed and power returnboards which cost $383 AUS (293 Euros) and $493 AUS (377 Euros).

  • Oh, man, ¡¡your returnboards are fantastic!!. I love the returnboards, I have my own design, but your design is very good. Bye.

  • @viejoteca89 Thank you.
