God bless you. I have been terrified for week about my upcoming procedure. I'm 42. My father died of colon cancer at 54. Doc's say I must go now due to my family history. Your video set my mind at ease and I see now I don't have to be so terrified. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You are an excellent teacher, Priscilla, and your presentation was very reassuring. I am not looking forward to the prep, because of all of the comments I have seen, but you seemed to cope-- I hope you're healthy. Thanks.
3:37 was hilarious "...... I'm gonna slow down a bit."
I had a sigmoidoscocpy done a month ago and those bowel preps aren't fun at all; worse than the actual procedure. I was diagnosed w/ proctitis but I'm still not responding well to animal fats/proteins so my doc has ordered a bunch of Radiology scans w/ barium AND a colonoscopy. The barium for the CT scan was terrible and scary to pass through and the idea of conscious sedation for the upcomin colonoscopy spooks me. TY for the inspiration
I'm prepping for a colonoscopy tomorrow. i didn't get any pills, instead I have to drink 4 litres of the most terrible tasting liquid. I swear, don't think I can finish it...yuckk!
i feel so stressed right now about having this procedure. i have blood in my stool and had a rectal exam yesterday. there was a part there that hurt, but the doctor found no blood. he said i might undergo colonoscopy, which will still depend on the results of my CBC and Fecalysis tests.
the doctor also said it can be done even without sedative. i just don't know if that hurts or would feel uncomfortable in any way. but im also worried about getting sedated for fear of not waking up anymore
This was very informational! My Father was diagnosed w/ colon cancer at the age of 41 and I am almost 40. I have been avoiding having the procedure done but I feel I should. These videos have put me at ease. It doesnt seem so bad to possibly save my life!
I had my colonoscopy last week and I to drink a gallon of TRILYTE before the procedure, this sure made nauseous. I thought that most patients do this kind of prep. I sure didn't take any kind of pills as this woman did.
Thanks for this video! Haven't had it done in 8 years so I'm way past my time to have had it done. I have one coming up this Tuesday and my nerves are wrecked!!!
Thank you so much for this video, I've not long been told that I will probably have to have this done and was quite frightened. It doesn't seem so bad now.
Prep is as simple as four Duralax pills followed by a whole (238 g) bottle of Miralax mixed into 64 oz of apple juice. Prepare for "liftoff" because this is *very* effective. Next day the Doctor puts you to sleep and performs the colonoscopy in about 30 minutes. You awaken remembering NOTHING. Remember, this procedure is a highly effective cancer prevention if polyps are discovered and removed. Don't be afraid. Get it done.
I just had my 19th colonoscopy and they found a cacerous tumor. The next step is a complete colectomy with a temporary ileostomy. Then in about 6 months to a year they will open mr back up and reverse the iliostomy by connecting my small intestine to my rectum. That way I wont have a bag the rest of my life.I just hope that the cancer has not spread to my lymph nodes.the pet scan came back ok,but they wont know how invoved the cancer is until they get in there and check the lymph nodes.
Thanks so much for posting this video. It's very important to get the word out about preventative care and this test can literally save your life! I'm glad you're okay!
many people don't know how much they are lucky to have access to doctor and get diagnosis and help. those without health care insurance would have to pay (in Denmark) 1000-1500 euro for colonoscopy and 500 euro more for polyp removal.
I just had my third colonoscopy today. Had my first colonoscopy at 7 years old, had my second at 10 years old and now I'm 16 and had my third today. I had to take a disgusting lemon-lime gaterade laxative mixture and threw up towards the end. Today, I went to my local childrens hospital with my mom and had my procedure done. Sadly, I have severe colitis and will probably eventually have to have surgery to remove my colon at such a young age. To anyone going through this, god bless you.
Was interesting to see that he was going to inject her with I am guessing propafol... not sure of that spelling... but what Michael Jackson ended up getting from the so called Dr... at home! Interesting video however.
I had my first colonoscopy last week. I felt pretty weak from not eating, the prep was not as bad as I thought, I had the Miralax and Gatorade, I did not go to the bathroom until the next day when I drank the rest of the mixture. I had a headache from not eating, the procedure was not painful, the doctor removed 2 polyps, I had a blasting headache and was sick to my stomach from the pain medicine used in the procedure.
i did it i did y colonoscopy thanks for the advice i was never scared when igot there now i am getting a imac and ipad becuse i did it thanks guy rate watch and suscribe to my chanell
im only 12 i have problems with my stomach im so scared for my first colonoscopy i dont know how to take pills and im so scared if i wake up in middle please i need advice im going for it next week
I'm having my first colonoscopy next Monday. Although I will be put to sleep and not know it, it's that eerie feeling having a tube put in all through your entire colon never mind the embarrassment.
Look at it this way. Even the dirtiest part of our bodies needs to be cared for like any other body part. Besides, the one who is doing it is used to it and thinks nothing of it.
Thank you so much for preparing this video. I start prep tomorrow for my first colonscopy the following day and I'm pretty scared about it. I hope I can be as calm and collected as you were.
Part 2. All day yesterday I lived on Gatorade, orange and orange-pineapple Jello and consomme. Yum yum!!!! I got to the hospital at 9:45 am with a scheduled procedure for 11:15 am, but didn't get taken in to the room until just before 1:00 pm. My sister Lisa rode home in a taxi with me and we got home just before 3:00. Everything went very well and I get the results on January 28th. It sure felt good to eat real food again this evening. LOL!! :o)

Good video. My concern though is, what if you're hypoglycemic and can't go without food like that? Doing the prep would be hard if not impossible.

This is really awesome and informational and I like that it came from a patient and not a doctors view point. Going in Friday for mine. Thanks.

You were so lucky to do the pill prep! They gave me a gallon (!) of GoLYTELY as prep. I managed half. Fortunately it was enough. Nasty stuff!
