  • I used a RCA to usb adapter I got from radio shack for recording from camera to computer. Just hook up the game system to one side and hook up usb to computer.

  • I have a (s14) 240sx with 300-400 hp and i cant maintain a long drift.. i can drift a lil and barely control back to straight and sometimes it flings the other way and i get out of control. and sometimes i dont pull away soon enought and i get stuck drifting sideways to a halt ... whats wrong is it the settings tires? help

  • I use both but perfer the lodgitech wheel because you can feel the car.

  • Comforts are a tire you can buy for no cost. I belive they are N2's. There are three tires at the begining of the upgrade shop and they are economy N1, Comfort N2 and Road N3.

  • All you need is the right tires matched to how much torque and power you have. Although having more torque can affect the way you drift.

  • Lessons aren't suppose to have opinions. Put your emo emotions behind and teach. You can drift without aids and they aren't for wusses. At least you know you dont need a 400 hp car to drift

    In steering wheel options what setting do you use? Amateur, professional or simulation? It seems too hard on simulation setting I can only drift on professional setting. What do you use?

  • I meant to put that in the video, its been so long since I set up the wheel I forgot about it. I set mine to proffesional and turn off the steering aids and such. All aids ever do is never exactly what you want them to do.

  • Thats not true its just easier to use a wheel. The key to using the controler is to watch your cars body lean and learn how to tell when your tires are griping and sliping.

    I know a few people that learned on a controler cause they didn't like the wheel and did very good with them. I can drift with a controler myself but not as good as I can with a wheel.

  • Depends on the skyline. I need someone to show me a decent set up for a AWD because my department of talent is limited to RWDs. No you don't need all the parts at all. All you need is cheap tires, a lsd and turn off aids.

  • The new one is. The old one can easily be gotten for $50 and thats the one I use. Logitech Force Pro. You can drift with a controler but I can definetly drift better with a wheel.

  • Man I'm tempted to get car and take it off just so I can build my upper body while driving. Mechanical steering isn't actualy as bad as a regular car with no power steering its just trying to move the hydraulic pistons with out the pump is what were talking about.   • Yup and the nice thing about the forces is that you can "feel" when to straiten the wheel. The 900 degree control and the feedback of the DFP are something to get used to but its great. Wait till you start doing "no hands" drifts.

  • Its been so long since I set mine I forgot it has settings. The set up I use has no steering assist, professional, no power assist and mild force feedback. Its natural for a car to want to steer it self and if you ever driven a car with no power steering you'd literaly have to fight the wheel when cornering. But those settings should clear it up, its ashame I should have put that in the vid.

  • Thats not very detailed but it sounds like your front grip is too weak or you haven't got the feel of the car and are steering to fast. You need to move the cars weight to oversteer, go to bumber view and watch the car lean in and side to side.

  • Its mainly through moving the cars weight off the rear wheels. You can shift the cars weight side to side (feint). Or you can brake quick and turn to lean the car foward (braking). Or you can be going so fast that when you let off the throttle it leans the car forward (kanzai). Or you don't use the cars weight and floor it while turning in (Power over). Or you can use the e-brake and ripp the e-brake while turning (E-brake). BTW all of these can be combined.

  • FR thats about it. MRs are harder but will still drift good and some people get 4WDs to work. Some cars are naturals and you can tell by driving them the 240sx is a good example.

  • Are you talking in GT4 or real life. You can drift unrealisticaly in GT4 (driving aids are a good example) but the way I teach and drift is based off real life logic. Not trying to say that 4wds can't drift but in my book they are very difficult to work with and get results. But I'f like to know your opinion and so why would you say they are the best to drift with?

  • First do you know what a LSD does. And full custom is set to 1.5 lsd and to make it a 2.0 you just set it 40 accel 40 deccel.

  • I does. it controls how much goes to each wheel to prevent slip. Basically closer you are to 100% lsd the more both tires will spin instead of one. The 1 way only works on acceleration the 1.5 way is 100% on accel and 50% on deccel. A 2.0 lsd is 100% on accel and deccel which is preferred for d1 drifters but is not good for regular racing since its al ot easier to lock up your wheels entering corners which is scary when racing.

  • Platimun045 man not to be disrespectful but your video posted showed me that your not in position to make suggestions on set ups. Your on the right track but you need to bring your set up closer to stock its to extreme to work with.

  • i also have a suggestion for learning how to drift: try buying a 2002 RX-7, give it S1's, set both TSC and oversteer to 0, but leave 10 on oversteer. have fun

    Translation:

    Buy a new Mazda RX-7, fit it Sports Hard tyres. in Settings go to driving aids ad set all to 0 except for the one in the middle (oversteer), leave it on 10

  • You mean turn understeer to 10 because turning oversteer to 10 would stop you from drifting. It does work but its not at all close to real and in a way its ceating but I say no aids but what ever floats your boat (or rather drifts your car).

  • ah yes u'r right, 10 on understeer. and it's not cheating when u'r learning, it's just the way i started, now i also set all aids off...

  • Thats a good point, though once you can start a drift its as better than understeer aid. But I guess it wouldn't be bad if you've been getting fustrated with drift entry and wanted to focus on control. All in all its not a bad idea for beginers and I've tried it myself. Though it should be any aspiring drifters goal to have full control of his car.

  • Sure is different, but every car drifts drifts in its own way and there are just certain corners that car can drift better than any other. Its why drifting is so great.

  • I Drift better in GT3 than GT4 for some reason they control isn't the same between the two.

  • Its not for some reason, Gt4 physics are very different from 3. I like the game factor of 3 and the fact you can get around a load much faster. Just thinking about when it first came out brings a tear to me eye.

    And I still can't understand what type of upgrades for my car to be able to drift that well..

    I've been trying with stock cars in arcade mode, and I've been progressing..

    But I want to try the easier way, with the upgraded parts in a customized car.

    But I just don't know the setting.

  • Well settings differ for every car and style of drifting, thats why I think its more important to try to learn with the cars natural suspension. The biggest effect of the tuning is the "hp to tire ratio". You want enough HP to break em loose but not to much and not have any drift recovery. So get a car put a 1.5 way Lsd on it, take the aids off, get close to 240hp and put comfort tires on it.

  • I use the camera mate its an adapter for video cameras to your computer. Then get recording software.

    you gotta have this before you start your drifting or else youre gonna break your drive terrain

  • actualy thats not true because an lsd puts more stress on your drive train. The reason you want one is so your car doesn't waste all off its horespower and gives you much more control in a drift. LSD makes both back wheels share power during slipage so that you don't just spin one wheel like a car in the snow.

  • i use honda s2000 with 1st slot turbine kit for more power, on economy tires, stage 3 reduce weight, port polish, engine balancing ande everything else stock. 300hp. i drift on apricot hill, el capitan, trial mountain and deep forest. also tried costa di amalfi(thought there are a bit too narrow turns).

    why do u buy fully LSD? You dont even modify it.

  • The reason I say to buy the full LSD for one it doesn't cost that much more and the unmodified full lsd is a 1.5 way which most cars are fine with but ocasionaly I need to change the settings for some cars or racing set ups so realy theres no point in buying the others.

  • To answer your second question. I modify a car on the way it handles, the setups in these lessons are made to let you learn how these cars handle in a drift so you can learn fundimentals so that you can make any car you want to drift comapared to getting full blown set up and not being able to apply what you've learned. I have modified way too many cars to count, mostly RWD imports.

  • ya usualy the first thing that prevents anyone from drifting is the driving aids and I can stand the fact that you can't turn them all off in the options. I don't even use them for racing.

  • My friend is the same way. Its realy personal preference, I also belive those who master the wheel drift alot better. It took me 2 weeks to get used to the wheel. Then again I've seen some realy good controler drifting. I guess my best quality is being able to make any rwd drift good and have drifted with almost stock cars.

  • dude your drift are amazing its 1000% sure u can do it with a steering wheel and a high powered car i dont play gt4 anymore dude i lost my game to answer your question my car was a kind of high powered big angle drift skyline r34 spec nur tuned up to 850 hp this car is awd so i putted a 3 way lsd economics behind comfort in front 17 downforce at the rear end i think 7 or 8 in the front end
