  • Antartica is a tundra. -feels like a troll-

I cannot love this song more than I do; it's my favourite Vocaloid song. :D

  • They win the award of the best couple in the world!!!

  • Someone, PLEASE make this a movie ;-;

  • @Pixel777Productions

This really would be an absolutely brilliant movie.

  • @katiemateymoo I'd be all SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY if someone actually did.

  • this is our future XD

  • I'm reallly impressed that amateur creators made up this.

  • 3:35

    GOOSEBUMPS.

  • @nickjonasbigfan

    Oh man, most definitely.

That part makes me want to cry, too, LOL.

IT'S KINDA LIKE YOU SAW THE SUN FOR THE FIRST TIME YOURSELF <3

  • I love this song, It's so beautiful and reminds me of many things. Vocaloid songs often have lovely meanings. I love hachi, his songs are marvellous. Wonderful.

  • Its like every impossible is impossible, its like making the rain stop, its like snow in a desert, its like everything is coming for me to absorb....its like now that final question is being aswered and told to me and its like nothing else you could see in the universe

its like, everything not seen, has been seen

  • @2222Warning

People make snowmen in the desert all the time

  • @2222Warning Antarctica is a desert.

  • @PieInYourTube

    Best reply ever.

  • Well this is just argh! I cant take it...im still crying! I cant believe it, mygosh Its like infinite reality and meaning reasons and stuff, are now all making sense to me Its like imagining the whole universe out there Its like going there to another galaxy and experiencing it And i am astonished And its like nothing else ive ever seen in my whole life And its like peace Its finally the time Its finally the part But somethin is still unexplained, is there somethin out there tellin me something?
  • I think I almost cried. (cries)

  • lol miku inspired me to write songs, so I got the garageband app on my iPad, then I looked up GarageBand on the internet, found out Rihana used it to write Umbrella, then I looked up Umbrella on the Internet, and this is the first thing that came up. Funny how it all loops back to Miku in the end, isn't it?i think Vocaloids secretly control people's destinies and we really don't know about it :D I mean, she's why I'm writing songs and learning Japanese and drawing anime ^^

  • @Hypophora i like your theory, but there are places now with no or hardly any ozone, like New Zealand.

  • @fierfly567 we can still assume that mr./ms. Hypophora's theory is what works in the world's end umbrella universe, though- let's say that the sun has reached the point where it will begin to die, and has started its growth as a super-star or something xD

the theory is also kinda supported by the last few lines of the song, and the human figure cowering under the sun's light in the girl's storybook. :>

  • @LUVcheese789 Amen

  • Amazing! \(OwO)/

  • I'd take Vocaloid over Rihanna or Lady GaGa anyday. :3

  • Man I love this song so much. So beautiful.

  • My interpretation is that people were slowly taught to think the sun was bad for their health. Creating an umbrella to block it. But that boy and girl knew those stories weren't true. He was tired of the endless rain both of them took the adventure to the top of the umbrella only to see the truth, how the sun was perfectly fine. She throws away the book that told tales of the sun for she now could feel and see it herself. They fall asleep happily to the suns warmth.

  • I love this song and PV so much I can't even explain it ;u;

  • Waaaait, so the video is technically a storybook but she has storybook?

    STORYBOOKCEPTION

  • The story is more about the adventure, not the goal.

  • Happiest sad thing I've ever heard...

  • The boy looks really unhappy through the entire song.

  • For some reason, I'm reminded of the hunger games. Maybe I'm just weird like that xD

  • @raphieeMahTurtleBoii

    What's the book called?

    I wanna read it ;D

  • OMG! This reminds me of a book that i was assainged to read in Laguage arts class and the book was called " Summer in a day" And the perople never saw the sun except for one girl :O

  • at first i thought this was a rip off of world's end dancehall but I'm glad i watched it. it's a really beautiful song

  • So what happens to the people under it still

  • I wouldn't compare City of Ember to this song, really. I think Gurren Lagann is more similar to that book than this is.

Aside from that or whatnot though, I really love this song and this PV <3 I didn't really get the song when I first saw the original text-only PV, but this version is beautiful ^^

  • This reminds me of the kind of thing Miyazaki would make a movie of~

    Hachiiii, I love you~

  • Thank you so much

    You did a great job

    Touching song!!!

  • Anybody else reminded of Final Fantasy 7??

  • WHOA. The console at 2:45 reminds me of 2300 A.D. in Chrono Trigger

  • This reminded me of Castle in the Sky a little bit. Love that movie, and this song is great! xD

  • Somehow this song really touched my heart...

  • Owww I love this song ^u^ and i dont know why but its so...mmmm beautiful :D and i dont know its waa soo happy and sad at the same time but so cute arrr well everyone understand this in their own way x3

  • you know this is alot like city of Ember the book doesn't it :D

  • @AnimeXDrawler OMG I was just thinking that!!

  • @luckyluckydia cool ! :D It fits in like that perfectly :D

  • @AnimeXDrawler ikr?

  • They should make an anime out of this. I mean they already made a anime music video. Now all they need is the episodes part.

  • thanks for the translation!

reminds me of the book City of Ember...

  • @delucified OMG I was just thinking "this is so much the the book Ember.." and then i saw your comment and i was like LOL

  • @luckyluckydia lol :D glad to hear i wasnt the only one who thought that. ...huh... actually there are a couple comments about that now, isnt there? xD

  • anyone noticed that the boy and the girl looked like pein and konan? >.>

  • @CarolElric3 hmm....the hairstyles are the same :)

  • My interpretation of this video is that the "umbrella" was constructed in order to preserve human civilization at a future time when the sun's radiation has become so extreme as to be deadly (perhaps the partial disintegration of the ozone layer). Although the boy and girl were able to observe the long forgotten sun, they both succumbed to radiation poisoning soon afterwards.

  • @Hypophora

I agree, and I'm going to add that I think that people constructed large subterranean cities, (maybe when it wasn't so bad, and they could still move on the surface without any trouble) maybe because of limited space for overpopulation, so it isn't exactly an "umbrella". (This kind of reminds me of The City of Ember in a lot of ways, just looking at it.) :)

  • @Hypophora yeah, that would happen ._.

  • @Hypophora this fits pretty well, but them how did the the plant life flourish so?

  • @PrimrosePanther THEN :3

  • I think the umbrella symbolizes the way we judge things based on how the media supplies us with information, with lies and half-truths. The bit at 1:40 could mean that few people can see past the general assumptions, but for those who can, the world is 100% the way they see it, not others' views, and reveals its beauty to them, not marred by others' prejudice.

Hachi's songs have such deep meaning.

  • @BerrySubs i was close to tears T_T

  • I'm confused... Is this or is the version with the flute and piano and electric keyboard in the beginning the original version of "World's End Umbrella"? I'm getting all mixed up...

  • @BerrySubs This is the remade version. THE WORLD END UMBRELLA, which has a different intro, different verses, and a mouse-drawn PV with the lyrics making pictures, is the original.

  • This is the reason why i listen to vocaloids more than mainstream music. Here you can get an actual message and it can bring you to tears. And the mainstream music? It's just too shallow; it's like every song talks about sex, drugs, 'i love you so much', 'why did you leave me' etc.

  • @AyaSteel I so agree with you. My friends think I'm weird because I don't listen to the same songs as them, but maybe they can't understand what real music is. They just listen to what's number one on charts, they don't even think a little about the lyrics (which are always the same in these times, always about a boy and a girl, or about sex... like you said.).

I'm not saying I don't like this kind of music, but I try to interest myself in something else.

  • @fraisejuteuz me too -_- none of my friends listen to this stuff so they're all like WTF is this?! and i reply " it's real music" :D

  • @AyaSteel IKR! its all "i want sex" or "i love you" or "why'd you leave me like this" or "i need drugs" or blah, blah, blahhhh

  • i don't get this much... i mean, a giant umbrella? is it just about a sad and gloomy world or what?

  • @JeremyB796 Well, really, it is a story about a giant umbrella that was constructed to cover the city. The people in the city never saw the sun, so yeah, it was an unhappy world. The couple, sick of their world, want to see the sky, so they venture into the tower, being the first ones to go in in who knows how long. So they reach the top and see this beautiful world, with the blue sky, and find happiness. (But I think it cost them thier life...)

The story's both symbolic and literal. :)

  • @BlazeinTheMorningDew that is so messed up... but thx for the reply... but it seemed as if they fell asleep....

  • i thought this was a parody of World's End Dance Hall xD

  • this reminds me of the city of ember for some reason o.O

  • where can i download the song?

  • Two people couldn't get the umbrella tower door to open...

  • Does this song remind anyone else of Yahiko and Konan from Naruto: Shippuden?

  • the PV reminds me of Laputa,.. great song~

  • Wow just noticed but in the end that's one short dress she's got on

  • it reminds me of shadow of the colossus a little at the end... idk xDD

  • @KouYamiAura your mom is a super awesome lady

  • it looks like its from an anime >0

i love it and the song is awesome the meaning and everything :'D (its kinda sad in a way as well~)

thank you for posting this : D

  • Poncho Dress- The epitome of Hachi's Poncho love.

  • Ka-wa-iii!!!~~~

    Amazing!!! =D

  • The great umbrella hiding the Earth.

A tower is built in the center, a mass of machinery that props it up.

As a being would suspect, the villages below got no sun, and are tormented by "rain".

But the others do not question.

    For it is commonplace.

    It means nothing.

    It is basically "law".

Struggling together through the recurring rain, the two reached the tower.

The great two doors would not budge, but the two would never be rejected.

  • My mom, on Facebook after I shared this, probably came up with the deepest thing I've ever heard about this video:

"It reminds me of your wonders in life's unknown, but the faith you have that once you find that special person, everything becomes possible and beautiful."

ffffmom. I almost cried after re-reading that.

  • This is like city of ember!!

  • Gosh, every time i hear this song i'm just thinking "City of Ember, City of Ember, City of Ember..." Lol.

  • @TheSpyderGurl ikr?? thats wat i think too

  • I love this song, because it tells a beautiful story. At times, I come close to tearing up. At first I thought it was pathetic of me to do so, but now, I just let my emotions play out, because I think any great story will bring some kind of emotion out of anyone who hears or reads it.

  • Whoever disliked this couldn't find their way out of the umbrella.

  • WHO DISLIKED THIS? I'M GOING TO HUNT YOU DOWN. >:C

  • I liked this PV better than the original. :x

    This is a wonderful song, and I love it. ;A;

  • I seriously cannot find Hachi's stuff anywhere, let alone any mention of the guy that isn't on Youtube or Nico.

    Anyone know where to look?

  • Really Good :3 Luv this song!

  • Somehow watching this video I am reminded of a game for the Wii called Fragile.

  • @TheAiMyMe Coincidentally, I am currently playing through Fragile right now. While listening to this song.

    It's pretty awesome.

  • Who disliked this? Seriously wtf. I -love- this video.

  • Oh my godddd what a nice song ;A;

    I loooove it~

  • AHH! I finally understand the lyrics to this moving song ;)! The guy looks scary o.e

    Thanks!

    --

WAAIIT whats that thing at the end @_@?

  • This kind of reminds me of City of Ember(a book)

  • @shinekishm hey me . they are pretty simalar.!

  • Very beautiful song and video. I love the message, too. Thank you for subbing it.

  • yay I feel better now that I know what they are saying xD

  • What a beautiful song, thank you for subbing it!

  • thank you so much for adding subs to this because when I watch it with just japanese I don't know what they are saying and the song wasn't as meaningful. But now I got to understand how beautiful this song is. I reallly like simple stories like these! Now when I listen to just the song I'll understand it. :)

  • omg i agree with u 100% XDD

this song has soooo much more meaning now and i like it a whole lot better <33

  • omg this made me cry. this is beautiful. no, its more than beautiful!!! the story is really touching and sweet. i wish theres more songs and pvs like this.

  • I don't get the meaning. ;_;

  • ....let's see if I can help...what don't you understand?

like the whole theme of the song?

  • The whole theme...

  • @k12kyle I'd like some help too! All I really understand is that there's an umbrella and then they go to it and the door behind them locks them out and they are happy on top of the umbrella.

  • @wondermist Unlike some of Hachi's other songs, I really don't think there's much additional meaning to be gleamed beyond what's apparent*. Other than an underlying message about having to take action if you want to make your life better, and... I dunno, pollution, maybe.

    * After all, it even SAYS "there's no time to look for reason, nor any desire."

  • @vgperson Thank you very much :)

  • @vgperson it might also be that if you live your life under an umbrella of shelter, your life is going to be like a gray sky, sad, like crying rain, but you can sometimes find happiness ontop of your umbrella, well ^^" that is what i take from it, only the composer knows for sure!

  • @wondermist

I like what vgperson said. though it doesn't seem like much additional meaning,

(like Mrs. Pumpkin or Qualia) Really, It's the two of them, rebelling against what was told to be 'law'. It's like a romantic, non-romantic journey. It's like finding out something that is not suppose to be. They achieved their dream of being able to see the fairytale sky. Which they truly believed that there was one. Finding that they sleep peacefully on top the Umbrella. That probably didn't help. -_-

  • -Awesome...

  • great translation! thanks for this! :D

  • I love the pic at 4:41! Anyone know where I can find it or somthin?

  • Not a clue but if you REALLY want it, I'd maybe suggest screen capping and then crop the picture in Paint or PhotoShop?

Onto the video: Gah, I think this has quickly become my favourite Vocaloid song after hearing it a couple of weeks ago~ The new video to it is just gorgeous! <3

  • Great translation.

  • Damn you're the best!! THx for sub this soo quickl^_^

  • i want the cd so bad but i cant find anywhere that sells it online T-T maybe someone will put a copy up on yahoo jp auctions in a few days...

  • There appear to be several of those already, actually. Hachi said he's going to work out a way for people to order online, but in the same message asked people not to resell it on Yahoo. Not sure what that means in terms of the ones already up.

  • @vgperson Are there any news about that. Cause I so wanna have his songs on CD
