You are right, but even some knowledge on Japanese will have you understanding quite a bit of it! Besides, there are two guides on Gamefaqs. One is a script translation by Wyrdwad and the other is by Banderson which is a walkthrough. These got me through the game with no bother at all!

Buy the original PS version! So much better as well! The final boss fight will really have you in awe! The enemy is far different to the PSP version and it is rather freaky!
