In the Nirvana live and loaded video they describe Extreme as a schlock rock band and talk about how much they suck. If Extreme were playing on the same bill as Nirvana they would have totally destroyed the so called kings of grunge. Kurt Cobain even on his best day would have been annihalated by Nuno Bettoncourt on his worst day.
ps just to note the first time i heard this me and my mate sat an in old volvo stoned in 93 overlooking a lake at night singing our tits off inspiring shit i tell you one day someone will write like this again But in our life times im not so sure.
as a musician i can honestly say that if one day i write a piece of music like this my lifes complete. beautifull they just don't write them like this no more shame.
Music like this isn't completely dead. Check out a band called Muse. The lead singer Matt Bellamy is a guitar god, a amazing piano player and a brilliant composer. There is hope!
This song is so fucking amazing, on a diff note, so many Extreme fans hate More Then Words cuz it's a mainstream song, but I love it for that reason it launched them into the mainstream eye which got other people to try out their other songs ergo making them more popular :D
Brings me back to a very pivotal period in my life as I listen every time. I knew that these guys were good musicians, but the 3rd side of this album was just perfection. Thank god I had good people handing this tape to me or I would of missed it, a time for everything.
This is truly an amazing album. There is so much meaning in this album for me. I never really "listened" to it the 1st few times I played it. The music and lyrics are almost on the same plane as the Who's Quadrophenia. I said almost so everyone just relax. I am a recovering addict and found so much "truth" in the Truth side. It really made me look at myself and why I am the way I am. I can so relate to "Stop the World". Thanks aerosmith80 for all 3 songs. There is no other way to listen to them

this album was so far ahead of its time it was incredible. they had the guts to challenge their fanbase. some of us got it...the others wanted another more than words and lost the faith.
this album should be revered....its just simply oh so very special.
Saw these guys at Westbury. They opened for RATT and BLEW RATT away!!!!!
Ratt just sat up there like they got nothing to prove anymore. Ratt really put on a boring show. Extreme was so full of energy and NUNO is my all time favorite guitarist and looked great that night with his usual JEFF BECK look. Especially with the feather around his neck.
Extremes concept album surely ? great music and as the album goes on it builds and gets better. I used to love listening to this back then and really liked Stop the World onwards... very musical !
The very fact that such music is being uploaded is ample proof that both, people who create real music and people who appreciate it still inhabit this planet, although maybe in a lonely secluded corner.....
More than Words went to number one. This one did not, even though this one is probably about 20 times better. That's okay though. Extreme fans keep this one kinda secret, a place to go that's not too crowded where we can just sit back and appreciate amazing talent playing amazing music that means something for our lives.
Great album. Its also full of biblical imagery which is unusual for a rock band. Its down to Cherone's Christian faith I think. Given that it is written during and after the First Gulf War I don't think its a coincidence that there is a lot of apocalyptic stuff going on. Makes it very relevent today given the mess in the Middle East now!!
One of my all time favourite Albums. Truly amazing work and still ahead of it's time. Operatic style borrowed from Queen and done today by Muse Resistance. Extreme did it first though!! From track 7, Seven Sundays to the last track, Who Cares should be turned into a stage theatre show - it would be riveting stuff!!
i was shocked over the diversity and excellence in this album over Extreme's music how could Nuno perfectly produce whatever he composes, i had this album since its release... and i believe its one their best albums so far ....
I remember hearing this album for the first time and thinking that the whole movement was such a musical masterpiece. If you never knew that the concept of music was a creation of God himself then you have just recieved a little piece of heaven. Absolutely amazing musicianship and a highly ignored and underrated band.
@fishguru73 u said it all. I saw them on this tour and still the best show i have even seen. The public only knows them for More Than Words. What they dont know is that they are the most versatile band ever. Playing fiunk, rock, acoustic, and masterpieces like III Sides. Very well said, and waht a great video.
@fishguru73 Music is dying my friend. Where will compositions like this be in the future? I think we have seen the last of the truly, great compositions and concept albums (CD's) It is slowly being replaced by mindless beats or pop schlock. I rank Extreme right up there with the best bands in the world. As well as with some of the best written pieces in history.
Just wanted to say thanks for adding all 3 songs from 'The Truth' part of the album. This album is one of my favorite of all time. Extreme really put some thought and artistry into it. It's too bad that typically when a group asks too many questions, strays from the norm and makes music that isn't commercial that they get forgotten. Their 2nd album went double platinum, probably because of 'More than words' and 'whole hearted'. While those songs are good, they are nowhere near as good as these.
yeah hes right Pornograffiti wasn't their debut album it was Extreme 1... their first album.. Pornograffiti was they music career changing album cuz they worked amazingly hard on that album... all their albums are amazing though :P
@rackalot could not agree more. This is one of the best albums of all time. So much thought and mental prowess apart from the ability to create good music has gone into this one. Its like a beautiful painting, with all colours and shades in it. Artistry is the exact word which should be used, I am so damn in line with your comment. Only someone with true understanding of music can write a comment like that! GOD bless!!
@rackalot You are so right, and it's always like that.. Not only with Extreme, I think that usually the better songs of most of the bands are the less known ones.
@rackalot I want to disagree but i guess ur right, although Pornograffiti has some boss tracks on it, namely he-man woman hater, but this song is just a masterpiece
Thanks for the comment. The video starts with ground zero, I used military images and other pictures from NY, Chicago and Kansas. I like this song and I like United States in all the different sides of their history.
gotta agree....total contradiction. a time of so much, but still so much of the same... THAT thought may fit the theme of acceptance in the movement, but really seems ill suited here. big propaganda stuff. boisterous national noise no matter where you go.
Agree totally with the last comment. 3 Sides is, without doubt, the best!!!!
