What a handsome couple Esther and Abi were. They're singing this live, unlike most TV performances now, and Esther hits all the notes bang on. A class act and no mistake!
The German audience is so terribly well-disciplined! They are brought up more strictly than other people to follow rules and do as they've been told. Whenever Esther is singing in Germany they still do the same thing - I couldn't and had to shout "DENMARK LOVES YOU ESTHER!", much to the amazement of the German crowd in the hall... She's still simply astonishing! :-)
if Germans were as well disciplined as you and the world think they are (in other words robots that can't do anything but follow commands)why is it that we are noted for "Das Land Der Dichter und DENKER. And what about the Reformation?
Since you are from Dänemark and obviously educated, unlike most people in the US, i think you know what I'm talking about.
Hi Elke, and thanks for commenting. I hold a great respect for Germany and many Germans - don't get me wrong there, and you are right about all the fantastic poetry, music and art coming from G. I was only referring to "Das wohltemparierte Publikum", which indeed is quite different from the rest of Europe. It truly is something that you notice, if you've been to other concerts in other countries in Europe. I hope you will understand. No offence meant.
Well, we Brits only had the Beatles, Stones, & The Who, And Syd Barrett. Along with Bowie, Dusty and Scott Walker. Not to mention the Fairports, Sofy Machine and Kevin Ayers. What would we know about raving? Moody's, Procol, Tornadoes.........
@cisco9x hahaha that's why they aren't raving. sour face krauts lol plus the ofarims are jews, so everyones sat there with all that on their conscience.
She was absolutely beautiful, the most wonderful eyes I have ever seen. Something really special, the makeup a little strange, which gave her a sort of ancient Egypt look - Cleopatra might have looked like that. I was only a small boy in the sixties, but I remember being so attracted to that face.
I was bought this single for my 5th birthday by my mum & dad because i loved it so much and still do. I'm just really happy to see its still around in some form or another and hey its still "GOT IT ".
Well I remember it. Written by Mason Williams with Nancy Ames (the That Was The Week That Was girl). I think I remember them doing it on the Smothers Brothers show.
God how I miss the talent of Esther - being able to perform like this.... and how it makes me dislike the likes of a Penicillin Dijon and a MaDumber... WHERE ARE THE REAL TALENTS OF TODAY???
Cliff was the copycat (as usual). Abi's resplendant ruffles and Saville Row cloth were present and (entirely) correct on the "2 In 3" LP released in 1967. Cliff's prancing Eurovision performance of "Congratulations", where he dons a poor approximation of Abi's tailor's nifty lines, didn't occur til Spring '68. I reckon mono-browed Abi's a better prancer too.
... ist so beautiful and I mean even timeless !

I agree completely . Music today is repugnant , vile , tuneless garbage . With every fibre of my being I long for the days of yesteryear
