I have had such a change of heart concerning the Amish. I realize that maybe not all of them are so cruel, soulless and heartless, but from what I have seen from many different sites..I no longer hold them in high regard. Dogs are NOT livestock!!! Amish do not use phones, so I do not believe this is an Amish individual. However, it's a good video to show where your "PET STORE" puppy is from. There are no pet stores that use legit breeders, it's all people out for money and not breeding for the love of the dogs or betterment of the breed.

I dont know of any kennel that has been successful in breeding quality dogs on a large scale, not saying that it cant be done,
most top working dog breeders i know breed on a small scale so they can handle the hard job it takes, and knowing not to quit there day job thinking that there dogs will carry them

Its an issue of religion. This Amish fellow is allowed by his religion to kill animals, in order to survive. His way of killing the dogs in not one bit more cruel than the way they kill cows, to eat their meat, or make shoes. The issue here does not pertain to a farmer shooting an old or sick dog. If the dogs in question were humanely being killed for a necessary product or serious health issue, than there would be no argument. Unfortunately, we're not analyzing a meat factory, we're discussing a farm that treats animals, meant to be sold as family pets, inhumanely. Dogs sold with hereditary diseases, which run rampant in "purebred" breeding facilities, are not quality products.
This whole industry is cruel to the breeding stock, the puppies being sold, and the ignorant consumers who have to pay for the faulty puppies. If you refuse to view dogs as the family pets that humans bred them for than at least analyze them as the unhealthy, poor quality, products they are.

I must agree with you to a certain extent on what you say there. Everybody does seem to get an uproar when a dog is involved but when it comes to a cow or chicken being slaughtered they do not think twice. However, with that being said, I think the main concern is that these animals were not being properly cared for. My husbands family raises cows which end up being "slaughtered in the end, but they are well cared for and fed in the meantime. I do agree the Amish are Christians.

What about the breeding dogs that will never leave their tiny cells? They won't be adopted out to a cushy home. They will breed multiple times a year until their uteruses rupture and they can't bear litters. Then they will be shot. Dogs are bred to work, which by your definition would earn them rights, but these aren't given a chance. Breeding untill you die is hardly a job. I define that kind of a lifestyle as cruel.

If you take a dog from a shelter, you are taking a stolen dog, if it has been "rescued". If the dog has been donated or found in the streets, thats another story. This is very sad. Should you want an AKC registered dog(puppy), don't buy them at petstores. Find responsible breeders who care about the breed, not their profit. We have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Our breeder is awesome! Rescues and shelters are also good places to find animals. Stop puppy mills!!!
And last but not least, to all owners of dogs in the -poo family (yorkiepoo, shipoo, ect) they are designer mutts. Just because you went to the pet store and overpaid for a mutt doesn't make you innocent or smart. The AKC papers on those dogs are about as worthless as the puppymill that created them. Nine times out of ten, those were accidental matings. Do your research. Designer dogs are mutts for profit. Might as well go to a shelter or breed rescue, better results-less money.
As for everyone else, the government aka USDA sanctions this. IF they quit lisencing for commercial breeders (im sure we all agree that between shelters, private breeders and breed rescues, there are more than enough dogs). I have been a pet-store employee all the way up to vet tech and i absolutely refuse to purchase a pet-store dog and encourage mixed breeds and breed rescues above them. Dont waste $600 because you want "cute." Use common sense and buy for love and life not purebreed status

Understanding how many (but not all) Christians "interrupt" the Bible concerning animals that God gave them dominion over the animals then this video makes sense from that view point. They feel that they can do anything they like to animals because they are the animals master (god). They also believe that animals do not have souls nor do they feel pain as a human would. Agreed. It's supply and demand that keeps the puppy mill cruelty going. No reputable breeder sells their puppies to pet stores. Pet stores get their "stock" from puppy mills. They will claim they get them from USDA-certified breeders...which means very little in terms of animal welfare.
Opt to adopt. Ignorance keeps people buying pet store puppies and ignorance keeps the supply and demand of puppy mills going.

I agree. Ignorant is the best word to describe puppy buyers. They go to the store, see the bright lights and cute little faces and never make the connection that those puppies came from a mill. They keep buying and they keep the cruelty in-business. "USDA-certified" only means 6" in front of their face and 6" above their body, and 6" on each side. That's it. To the Amish and many others, dogs are cash crop and nothing more.
Absolutely adopting a stray is far better. Im from the UK so I wasnt aware of the regulations regarding USDA-certified space for dogs and that can only be described as confinement. I have had such a change of heart concerning the Amish. These are the kinds of treatment that said bible verse condemns. Shooting a sick dog, or horse, etc, has been a common practice for centuries (people can't even afford doctors and they should afford vets?) and it is not wrong. The verse in proverbs that bondroi quoted refers to purposeful abuses of animals, without an economic sense. If I put a yoke on a couple of bulls, they probably don't enjoy it, but that helps me feed my human family. If I kill a cow to make it into burgers, the cow doesn't enjoy it, but killing it is the farmer's way of life, and there is no sin in it, according to God's law. Its an issue of religion. This Amish fellow is allowed by his religion to kill animals, in order to survive. His way of killing the dogs in not one bit more cruel than the way they kill cows, to eat their meat, or make shoes. Instead, his religion has made him go to jail and die burnt in the stake rather than killing fellow humans (even in self defense), his religion does not allow adultery, fornication, premarital sex, lying, HATING, nor denying Christ. Police is not needed among Amish.

The issue here does not pertain to a farmer shooting an old or sick dog. If the dogs in question were humanely being killed for a necessary product or serious health issue, than there would be no argument. Unfortunately, we're not analyzing a meat factory, we're discussing a farm that treats animals, meant to be sold as family pets, inhumanely. Dogs sold with hereditary diseases, which run rampant in "purebred" breeding facilities, are not quality products.

I must agree with you to a certain extent on what you say there. Everybody does seem to get an uproar when a dog is involved but when it comes to a cow or chicken being slaughtered they do not think twice. However, with that being said, I think the main concern is that these animals were not being properly cared for. My husbands family raises cows which end up being "slaughtered in the end, but they are well cared for and fed in the meantime. I do agree the Amish are Christians.

In any case, it is not right to take someone else's private property. What about the breeding dogs that will never leave their tiny cells? They won't be adopted out to a cushy home. They will breed multiple times a year until their uteruses rupture and they can't bear litters. Then they will be shot. Dogs are bred to work, which by your definition would earn them rights, but these aren't given a chance. Breeding untill you die is hardly a job. I define that kind of a lifestyle as cruel.

If you take a dog from a shelter, you are taking a stolen dog, if it has been "rescued". If the dog has been donated or found in the streets, thats another story. Many people make their living making NGO's that supposedly "rescue" dogs from puppy mills and make these amish look like jerks. But they are the jerks themselves. This is very sad. Should you want an AKC registered dog(puppy), don't buy them at petstores. Find responsible breeders who care about the breed, not their profit. We have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Our breeder is awesome! Rescues and shelters are also good places to find animals. Stop puppy mills!!!

And last but not least, to all owners of dogs in the -poo family (yorkiepoo, shipoo, ect) they are designer mutts. Just because you went to the pet store and overpaid for a mutt doesn't make you innocent or smart. The AKC papers on those dogs are about as worthless as the puppymill that created them. Nine times out of ten, those were accidental matings. Do your research. Designer dogs are mutts for profit. Might as well go to a shelter or breed rescue, better results-less money.

As for everyone else, the government aka USDA sanctions this. IF they quit lisencing for commercial breeders (im sure we all agree that between shelters, private breeders and breed rescues, there are more than enough dogs). I have been a pet-store employee all the way up to vet tech and i absolutely refuse to purchase a pet-store dog and encourage mixed breeds and breed rescues above them. Dont waste $600 because you want "cute." Use common sense and buy for love and life not purebreed status

There is nothing wrong in eating hamburgers, I think, (except the cholesterol and the fact that to produce a gram of protein from meat costs like 20 grams of vegetable protein). God gave all animals to be under mans dominion, and if cows are treated this way, I dont see how dogs should get more civil rights. It is simple, if you dont like it, dont buy them. Agreed. It's supply and demand that keeps the puppy mill cruelty going. No reputable breeder sells their puppies to pet stores. Pet stores get their "stock" from puppy mills. They will claim they get them from USDA-certified breeders...which means very little in terms of animal welfare.
Opt to adopt. Ignorance keeps people buying pet store puppies and ignorance keeps the supply and demand of puppy mills going.

I agree. Ignorant is the best word to describe puppy buyers. They go to the store, see the bright lights and cute little faces and never make the connection that those puppies came from a mill. They keep buying and they keep the cruelty in-business. "USDA-certified" only means 6" in front of their face and 6" above their body, and 6" on each side. That's it. To the Amish and many others, dogs are cash crop and nothing more.
