I don't think so. He was wrestling unattached. He tech falled or pinned his way into the finals. I think it was Michael Stokes. I wish the results were online but it was too long ago.

Stokes stopped wrestling in 1989. You must be talking about someone else.

I saw Stokes get stacked in the 2nd period by TJ Jaworsky in the finals of the UNC Open in 1993. It was unreal. I didn't know who Jaworsky was then but I had heard of Stokes and thought it wouldn't be close...but Jaworsky made beating him look easy.
