  • KEEP THE BEATS GOIN

  • thank you for the motivation man... one of the few hip hop videos out there.. good stuff

  • Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong

  • yo this is disgusting. great creativity. every DJ should have one of these eff serato

  • Yo I just got an APC40 2 weeks ago, since then Ive been practicing and I noticed that everytime I choose a song and trigger another one the song I choose has to adjust to the master tempo and will not play to its original speed, so I end up constantly changing the master tempo, it aggrevating because I'll have two songs that are supposed to be about the same speed but according to abelton I need to put one song at 90 and the other one at 190! Is there any way to fix this problem?

  • your songs are not warped correctly

  • I don't know jack about ableton so let me ask a question. Are you simply triggering loops??

  • yep but you have to setup properly so its more in the preparation

  • ya man ive been producing a lot of hip hop beats and progressions with ableton

  • ohhhhhhhhhh shit one of the first videos were the apc isent playing house or techno dammnnnnn wacchalle your being diffrent ay guayy

  • yea ableton can suit any genre i just wanted to show that

  • @djnos2000

    Big up! ;)

  • @djnos2000

    thanks for that dude!

  • dope-sauce. i want to pick up an apc40. where do you get your samples from?

  • well im a dj so they were all songs i had on my come i just edited where the best part looped out

  • im sure its just like any sample..u cut it out of the song..and edit it to your discretion..

  • i am wantin to get the APC..in a delimma maybe u can answer..I am ordering the MPD32..then i want to launch clips with the apc..do u think i should get both..or one or the other..?

  • @Brizzne I have both and barely use my mpd32 since getting this. If you plan on making beats - the velocity sensitive pads are great and using it as your "instrument" works well. I remap all the mpd32 controls to handle certain effects and trigger "one shots" with the pads. If I had to choose - APC40 all the way.

  • well if you know ableton its just a loop, its no cutting you just drag the cursor where you want it and it will loop for as long as you want it with perfect timing, if you set it right... so your not cutting anything really. you can play the loop or the whole some, so some parts of my mix are loops some are songs mixed in... all controlled via the MPC

  • Awesome! thanx for the help.

  • Im interested im music making and am thinking about getting the APC40 but dont have any ide how to use it or abelton live. any suggestiong?

  • before you get the apc, you should learn ableton live first, they have a tutorial that comes with the software, then you have other ones all over the web and youtube, once you get that down, you can use midi controllers

  • My normal setup is to run guitar, bass, and keys through a digitech JamMan looper and run beats separately on an Boss SP 505. I brought home an apc 40 last night, and am now retiring most of my setup. I'm still keeping the guitar in the mix bc I think its pretty dope for show to keep some real instruments in with the digital. There is a hell of a learning curve for this controller, especially having no previous experience with Ableton. BUT if you stare at it long enough, it starts to make sense

  • nice job man

  • Lets make something clear, If you ask me my opinion im going to answer it, for the smart ass dude, I dont use the crossfader cause its flimsy, I got a mixer thats made for scratching that handles that job for me, I didnt buy the APC to scratch on it. if you ask me something you better be prepared for my answer or else off my page and go get your own APC, damn !

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the props, yes the tracks had to be warp

  • Nice, props for seguing Rap. Slight key clash, though.

  • thanx bro, didnt mix in k just by beat, this vid was a right out of the box kind of thing

  • Beautiful! This is sick!

Did you have to Warp all the tracks first?

  • thanks buddy

  • kool mix. love that APC.

  • thanks, and I hope you get yours soon

  • ..Anyway.. :-) Good Job .. I´m a little jealous about the Akai! :-D

  • Good Job man....

But mixing Hip Hop is about scratches and lots of cutz.

Mixing in Ableton is to clean. Same Speed absolutely synced....

  • you can apply scratches and cuts to any genre of music, its just expression... Im using the unit in conjunction with my Turntables as a remix application this vid is just a simplified version of what i have in mind.

  • You can use the APC 40 for cuts, right? The crossfader works ok?

  • nope, even if you could i wouldnt, no curve adj and a piece of shit crossfader, I used the APC in conjunction with what I already got 2 turntables and a mixer

  • there is a curve adjustment in ableton live

  • really? I still rather used the turntables and mixer

  • yeah maybe for mixing but for production and clean tight beats theirs few things close to it. don't get me wrong I still push on my straight 8's but if you can save some time on set up why not ? I think a healthy mix of physical mxing and software is always in order

  • yea, i know but i just dont wanna break it, it doesnt seem all that sturdy

  • wot about the adjustment in ableton? fada still sucks?

  • i dont really used the crossfader

  • Sounds good. Great to see someone mix hip hop with Ableton.

  • Thanks man, yea everyone does Electronic with it, I wanted to change it up.

  • Are you using Apple or Windows?

  • actually I use both, but in this vid im using windows.

  • That is so frickin Hot!

  • thanks dude

  • sup bud, i like your mix. i know you prolly just picked that baby up - so keep it up! i dj too, what's your playlist for the set?

  • yea it took some getting use too, next vid ill have the effects synced up too.

    Playlist

    Hustlin -- Rick Ross

    Jigga What -- Jay Z

Chunk up the Duece -- Paul Wall & Lil KeKe

    Put On -- Young Jeezy

Big Pimpin -- Jay Z ft UGK

Love in this club remix -- Usher & Ti

    Rack Daddy -- Fat Pimp

  • The APC 40 is a f**kin' weapon. I'm going to get one. I still use 3 1210s. Can you assign kills on it? I use bass kills a lot for mixing.

  • yes you can assign kills to each channel, I use kills a lot as well. I have assigned the "record arm" buttons to work as kill switches, they are located directly above each channel volume slider, so it makes it very easy to hit 2 kills at once for a switch-up. This thing is an amazing piece of equipment!
