  • Yee I own one! A 1959 Oldsmobile Scenic Coupe. Green with white 2 tone paint! Gosh I am sure glad I own one, Since there aren't very many in California!

  • I must be the only one who always thought those fins were UG-LEE. My uncle had one when I was a little kid... and I used to think... UG-LEE.

  • A rocket ship on wheels! Why can't they bring back the fin?

  • Say, I sure would like to have deluxe roto-matic power steering in my car.

  • @LaurelCowgal money can't buy you love

  • oldsmobile 1959 the best car in 1959

  • Ya gotta love those fins! You'll never see those again!

  • you can see the fins if you buy one of these at a store

  • they dont make cars like this anymore

  • "Sports" sedan. LoL

  • i wonder why they spelled it SeniCoupe?

  • Ha Oldsmobile , the creator of the current

    automobile industry.

  • However, the bean counters at GM killed Olds in 2004.

Olds could have been saved had GM cashed in on the retro trend that was just starting when they pulled the plug.

Olds could have been saved with just one or two platforms.

The Cutlass/4-4-2/Vista Cruiser platform would have been one, as That 70's Show was in its prime, and it was once the #1 car in the US.

#2 would have been something for the old men who still loved Olds and now drive Buicks.

Olds could have brought back the 98.

  • One of my favorite sales slogans came from Oldsmobile, although it was a 1970's slogan rather than a 1950's one- "Escape from the ordinary". Another, from the 1980's, was for the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser- "Have one built for you".

  • my grand pa drove one into a pole and knocked it down and the car was slightly damaged.a new car would have been wraped around the pole.

  • @captionpsycho

Your ''grand pa'' is bullshitting you.

    Search here on youtube for:

2009 malibu vs 1959 bel air

  • @captionpsycho

A car from the 50's might break down a telephone pole, but the lack of seatbelts, solid frame and solid steering column would likely also break the driver.

  • Wow, these old cars were works of art. It's a shame that GM forgot how to build good cars. The old ones may not have been easy on the gas, but they were better built than the new stuff in my opinion.

  • you cant sit on the side of new cars and talk to the girls.

  • Always a good thing for a guy to be able to do with his car. Excellent comment.

  • you can sit on them, its just wouldnt be the same, i think a fixed up 57 chevy would get the girl faster than a cobalt ss, if your old school

  • cobalt ss? LOL Tin box.

  • tin box? not at all, more like plastic box...one step away from good old cardboard--lol

  • Christmas Island?Where is that?

  • And then there's Easter Island for that matter.

  • loved those '59-'62 Oldsmobiles with the speedometers that changed color and that oval green "cold" light that would stay on until the engine got up to operating temperature.

  • @5BGVO4

You and "OldsVistaCruiser" just made me want to drive one at least once in my life.

1959 was the year GM rightfully took the label "The Forward Look" away from Chrysler.

  • Now thats wat i say , this is a American car, beter than now days

  • long live the oldsmobile name....

  • Amen to that.

  • I miss my '59 98 Holiday SportSedan (the 4-door hardtop with wraparound front & back windows)!

I had it from 1991-98, and it would still keep up with current-day 5.0 Mustangs, but it was a rust bucket! :-(

I tried to see what it would do on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and air got under the fins and made the rear end "do the hula" at 115 mph.

It had a bar graph speedometer that was green until 35 mph, then turned orange from 35-65, and turned red above 65 mph.

  • sweet. I drive a my 61 dynamic sedan every day. love it.

  • Oldsmobile was such a great marque. I still miss my Cutlass Supreme...
