For a song to be great, it has to stand against time, fads and move beyond culture. This song meets that criteria. In other words, this is a cold piece!!!
WAYNE COOPER& ANTHONY LOCKETT CO-LED THE CAMEO CLASSIC SONG SPARKLE IN 1979. MR. LOCKETT WROTE SPARKLE AND CO-WROTE THIS SONG WITH CAMEO FOUNDER LARRY BLACKMON. WAYNE WAS DYNAMIC ON STAGE WHICH MADE CAMEO DYNAMIC. WHEN CAMEO WOULD SING WHY HAVE I LOST YOU AND SPARKLE BACK TO BACK, FEMALES WILL ACTUALLY BE CRYING. 1977-1981 WHEN WAYNE TOURED WITH CAMEO IS LEGENDARY. WAYNE LEFT IN 1981 AFTER THE CAMEOSIS TOUR. WAYNE DIED IN 1984. HIS ERA OF CAMEO IS THE MOST DYNAMIC IN CAMEO HISTORY. THEY WERE BAD
THIS IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE BALLAD EVER! THIS GROUP WAS PRODUCED BY LARRY BLACKMON( CAMEO). I AM SUPRISED CAMEO DID NOT SING THIS ONE FOR THEMSELVES.THIS IS THE ONLY COLLABORATION BETWEEN WAYNE COOPER AND CHARLIE SINGLETON(BOTH OF THEM PLAYED MAJOR ROLES IN THE HISTORY OF CAMEO) YOU CAN HEAR WAYNE'S HIGH FALSETTO VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND ESPECIALLY AT 3:12-3:22! WAYNE LED, SPARKLE AND WHY HAVE I LOST YOU, THOSE ARE TWO CLASSIC SONG'S BY CAMEO.BOTH WAYNE AND CHARLIE DID BACKGROUND ON THIS SONG.
An ESSENTIAL 80s funk staple!!! I'm selling all of my soul/funk/jazz LPs including a pristine orig NM/NM copy of LA Connection - Now Appearing if anyone is interested, hit me up!
@jjjsgirlagain i am from sandford, florida, been living in n.c. for 20 years, been looking for this song forever....the people here never heard of them....i moved here in 84,today i found my favorite song of all times. Thanks You-Tube!!
Yo Borgy66! Sorry I'm so late gettin' back. Unfortunately that album was it! I left Louisiana and moved to Cali in '85, haven't seen most of the fellas since I left. Roger Harris and I reunited very briefly and cut one song here in L.A., but that was all. Have spoken with some over the guys over the years. Stacy Cole unfortunately is no longer with us, God bless him. Was fortunate to find our album released on CD by Back Records, a reissue company in Germany.
Yo mistermalix1, we didn't play for Carl Carlton, we played for Randy Brown, we were his band at the time. He had a single out called "We Ought To Be Doin' It" on Chocolate City Records. Carl Carlton was on the show, he came on after us, then Cameo, Teena Marie, then Rick James. I was the keyboard player in L.A. Connection.
I grew up with these boys! What you know about cool, sly and wicked or Flourescent Smogg. These were the original names of this group. They also performed as Carl Carlton's band to perform Bad Mamma Jamma at
this group was a break off , of some of the memebers IN CAMEO , ALSO THE GROUP MANTRA, WERE ALSO SOME OF CAMEO, REMEBER CAMEO DID DOWN SIZE...........
NNNNNNNNNNNN- Neither Mantra nor the "Connection" was a "break off" or downsizing of Cameo, merely a production. Larry Blackmon produced these two bands and though Cameo may have contributed by singing additional backing vocals, none of Cameo's members were "active" members of either splinter group.
This song was on Mantra's album first then Roger Harris joined L.A. Connection after Mantra demise. He sung this on Mantra as well.I have both albums and I'll find a way is just as good.
My dad actually sung this song for my wedding. He did it for my husband and I first dance. It was beautiful. I wish the rest of them could have been there. A great big reunion.
thank you for sharing this song with me its absolutely wonderful. Although i just started high school in 82, i really never heard it, but Cameo was a hot group back in the day.
Nothing like a beautiful love song that stands the test of time; nothing like a beautiful love song played at 1 in the morning with a beautiful woman and beautiful thoughts of her on your mind with this song gently playing in the background. "I don't want you to walk out that door, girl, I need you. Stay with me, stay with me forever..." Powerful!
yo! yo! YO! i've been searching for this song for about 1 year thanks for having it so i can listen to it. now i'm trying to find it to download on cd or mp3 any ideal where?
PROMISE ME, DRAGONFLY???
