To answer the question from the title: yeah, he deserved the kill, lol. He got the last shot off into the car and you stepped next to it. Mistakes were made. Gotta make sure you watch out for cars on fire. You have to be more attentive, especially when trying for the nuke.

Guys, the car blew up and killed Jive.

The reason the other guy got the kill as him just walking around is because MW2 doesn't have killcams for exploding environment such as red barrels and cars and gas tanks.
