I was watching this program back in Japan when I was little. The audio was all in Japanese then. Were they airing it the US as well???? Also it it the roots of Roller Derby of today? Or is this Japanese Roller Game was a US import of Roller Derby back in the '70s? Could anyone educate me?
It was good to see Danny Reilly in this video for he trained me to skate with the LA-T-Birds and I was an rookie for 2-years and pro just 1 year and went into Bible Collage;
Seems like they were. That's the only way we knew them here in the East. The fans from out West probably won't believe this, but Reilly, Ralphie and Liz were really good at skating red. We weren't supposed to like them, but we always appreciated their talents, and they always gave us a great game.
Thanks, Hot Jam. I'd heard a lot about when the T-Birds went to Japan, but never got to see any video of it. I think some of the Japanese players eventually came to the States to skate with the T-Birds. By the way, I think that was Reilly at his best!

great skating action, unfortunately Roller Games lacked in announcers over all, where's Walt Harris or Ken Kunslemen when you really need them

Total agreement with you but Dick Lane would have been great here too. I
Elmer "Elbows" Anderson was a prominent skater from the 50s and was the announcer for the Philly/Eastern Warriors back in the day.
I always liked when the T-Birds went on the road and played the heel team. Danny Reilly played the heel as well as anyone.

It's a great find.
I was crazy about exciting games on TV in the '70's.
I love The Tokyo Bombers forever.
