  • you what its absolutely amazing to see the white running backs breakout again i remember tryout for a high school team and i got turned down because of my skin color..you know it kinda sucks that racism has spread to sports white guys have been running the ball for the first 20 years of the sport.. coaches need to do whats best for the team not for there reputation!

  • we love him here....in nebraska ...thanks plano high school ...send us another champion ...thanks

  • better play in the nfl

  • If rex keeps up this work next year he could be in heisman race

  • Before he is done I think Rex will finish his career behind only Rozier and Ahman Green as the 3rd All-time leading rusher for Nebraska. As a Freshman Rex weighed just a 190 lbs, now he is 218, and 95% of that is solid muscle. Rex hasn't lost any speed. He's not the fastest back we have had, but he is faster than most people think. His lateral movement, and vision are incredible. He is one of the most powerful runners around. He also has very good hands. Catches the ball well.

  • Rex Burkhead is the 3rd best running back in america!

  • @TheGibby26 In your opinion or in a poll?

  • @NUHusker09 In a poll i can't remeber which one though.... but 2 months ago he was named the 3rd best running back in America

  • @TheGibby26 Really? That's good. He is definitely going to be one of the big weapons on offense. He's already shown he can dominate.

  • @TheGibby26 what # was he ranked? was it college or all around?

  • Spencer stein highlights..next rex

  • atta kid rex. youll always be remembered here at PLANO SENIOR HIGHSCHOOL.

you cant just say Plano High School. cause theres 3 of them. Plano Senior, Plano West, and Plano East.

I play for plano now, and the coaches still talk about him, everyday. "Why cany you work as hard as Rex?" etc..etc..

Ive been watching this kid since he was in 8th grade, at Schimelpfenig Middle School. I knew he was gonna be great. and he is.

  • @TheDemetriusLukas He looks great. I can't wait for next year. He's going to be the starter, and I have a feeling he'll be just as useful as Helu. He looks like he can never be tackled every time he runs the ball. He's not a Reggie Bush who jukes and tries to get away. He'll run right at you and knock you over. I really like him.

  • this kid plays with his heart and he talks with his pads

  • @TheMrsamuelson That's exactly how you define him. lol.

  • Thank god he didn't go to the Shorthorns :)

  • @CornTasteGood I know. We're going to rely so heavily on him next year. He's got such great athleticism to become an amazing running back for us. I can't wait to see what he does next year in the Big Ten. He's a very good running back. Every time we line up in the Wild Cat with this guy I feel like I'm going to scream I get so excited. He's really a special key to our offense.

  • heyy grahamcrakr99 yeah right

  • @grahamcrackr99 That's awesome. Is he your friend?

  • He went to my future high school!

  • @brianwitt123 This guy is all we need. lol.

  • this dude is a beast

    1:34-1:40 was pretty sick!!!

  • @Mrbradboy1 I know. He is very good. Nebraska needs him this year!

  • The kid is a stud - but more importantly is a great kid. He became my favorite Husker as a freshman. Donald James Parker Author of All the Fury of the Wind

  • check out Blake Martin from Lovejoy dude is a beast.

  • there is a kid named gerald gafford AND is very talented and he is from dallas too check out his video on you tube by typing gerald gafford and comment on his video he is the next REX BURKHEAD

  • Burkhead's just a good football player. Reminds me of a guy named Wes Welker (former Texas Tech star, now with the Patriots). He's gonna be a star in the next few years.

  • He's started to show it just after watching him play against Arizona in San Diego when I went there. He looked amazing at Qualacomm Stadium!

  • @HuskerFanatic We've got one heck of a backfield in 2010. I can't wait to make it out to Lincoln from Maine in October for the Texas game...I'm so freaking pumped for this season!!! We're back baby!!!! GO BIG RED!!!!

  • WILDCATS BABY!

  • wow what talent... a white boy in HIGH SCHOOL running a 4.4 at 190. fuckin prospect right there son

  • Lol, NO ONE could tackle. Do they teach form tackling in Plano or what? Jesus.

  • He over talents them dude. Texas has a lot of good high school players, and Rex is no east task to wrap up!

  • @Luckyboys4080 This is a highlight vid so it is going to show clips of where he did his best and in a lot of those times he didn't get tackled.

  • they do

rex is just a bad ass

  • Zoom out! The camera needs to show us more of the field. Please Mr. Camera?

  • I believe the video is on Rex Burkhead is only showing Burkhead because he's the most important object in the sight. If you wanted to see the whole field you might want to change the title of your search. Sorry man. I hope I could help you. And no I am not being a Smart Alic if I may sound like one. I am being Sincere. =)

  • this guy went to my middle school shimelpfenig middle school in plano and my footbal coaches loved him

  • Cool! A lot of people know this guy. He did great when we played Colorado!

  • Yeah i go to Schimelpfenig! and i am there 7th grade RB Coach Kelen, Coach Bassem, and Coach Herpeche still coach there!:D

  • duuuuude i went to schim to!

  • hope he has a good showing against his home state texas for the big 12 title. He is special.

  • Yes, it will be very exciting. I am so thrilled he gets to play in the Big 12 Championship! I will be watching the game tomorrow from my couch.

  • Omg, 1:35 he dismantles that guy

  • No surprise there. He has some sweet moves!

  • Why does every talented white running back ALWAYS get hurt when they get a chance of a lifetime shot.

  • Don't worry, he's only a Freshman.

  • What a talented player!

  • Well his foot is broken right now so...

  • REx IS a BEast. i know him

  • Cool.

  • such and explosive athlete

  • Cant wait to see him bust some of these moves on people

  • He already has.

  • Not really... from what ive seen he has been running straight north and south. where are you from NUHusker?

  • I know.

I was born in California. I was raised in Nebraska, and I live in Califronia right now.

My father got his PhD at Nebraska. My great great, great Grandfather came to Colorado from Norway and he got married to a woman from Nebraska. So somehow my dad's family is from Colorado and Nebraska.

  • Bad news today out of lincoln... Rex is hurt. "out for a while" is what they said. Helu Jr. and the 4 other reserves all got reps in practice today.

  • I know, I heard. Well atleast we have Helu and I will be looking forward to seeing some other Husker Running Backs hopefully have some playing time because I don't know all of our Running Backs all too well because Helu's talent takes up there playing time, but I'm sure Helu will be the guy with the most reps.

  • Helu will get most of the reps for sure. Austin Jones (Menelik Holt's half bro) is another I back the will get time hes decent and we might even see the big lester Ward.

  • I know. Atleast Burkhead isn't the starter.

  • omg i went ot all the plano games just to see Rex "break some ones ankle".

    man those were the days

i got like 80 high fives from this guy

he was also a real good person

  • He also helped us dismantle Mizzou a little bit.

  • I remember seeing him play at Plano and he could do it all. He was very good at running outside, and good between the tackles. He was one of the best running backs Plano had in the last 10 years. Nebraska was wise in choosing this player. The first time I saw him play, I knew this guy was division I material.

  • He's good, but Helu performed much better than he did tonight. I am proud of the Huskers for such a miraculous comeback, against such a hated rival. They rubbed it in out face last year, but this year we rubbed it in there's. Very pleased.

  • Burkhead's a true freshman but mark my words he will be a good player come next year when Helu leaves eventually.

  • Maybe...

  • If Bo put him out there as a true freshman, he must really value this guy.

  • What you have is guy who will get you 10 to 30 tough yards through the tackle. He will be a good receiver out of the back field and you can use him on special teams. He won't out run anyone but he'll get you that 4th and short and can be used in the Wildcat formation. He won't be a Lawerence Phillips or an Ahmad Green but he'll be a good player for you.

  • I was the game last night, he's gonna be something special! Go Big Red!!

  • i used to watch this guy on friday nights. he will be good at nebraska

  • cool. he's an excellent player

  • Yes. I think we need to make more option and reverse plays, because we have a mobile Quarterback and talented backs. I would like to see them do this.

  • Did any of u guys see rex lower his head on that one play in the 4th quarter as he was getting tackeld and those 2 florida atlantic guy smacked heads lol those 2 was hurtin u could tell lol rex is a hard nosed runner he remindes me of marion barber from dallas.GO BIG RED!!!

  • Great to see Bo getting kids out of Texas!

  • Well Callahan got some too. The guy Rex is replacing is from Texas. Quentin Castille. I miss Quentin, but atleast we have Rex! It's not a terrible loss!

  • Burkhead looked very promising last night.

  • he looked good, but didn't make any insane plays like I'd hoped for.

  • You can't expect too much from a true freshman on his first game.

But he did show the ability get across the field and showed toughness.

    He'll only get better.

  • rex played great against fau

  • GL at Nebraska Rex, Show them What Plano football is all about

  • He scored tonight!

  • yea Q was good this guy will make up for it GBR hope you all will be watching the game tomorrow night !

  • Yes. I look forward to watching the Huskers. Me and my dad got it on PPV we're ready to watch the 09 season!

    GBR!!!!

  • The Great White Hope! When is the last time u have seen a white running back...as tough and fast as this dude.GO BIG RED!!!

  • I've met a white running back as good as this guy. He goes to Stanford, and was the top running back for rushing yards in California in High School, and he went to my future high school. His name is Tobey Gearhart, and he now is the half-back for Stanford.

  • quick strong FAST way better then Q

  • Q is gone now. I am pretty upset dude.

  • This guy will be the starter soon. As far as losing Castille, look at his individual stats for every game last year. 7 out of the 13 games he averages 1-2 yards a carry.

Burkhead was going to be 2nd string by November.

  • Maybe.

I can't believe he got kicked off the team for good. That's too bad. I will miss having him.

  • New 2nd string rb as of 2day. Since castille was an idiot and got himself kicked off the team

  • represent plano senior high

  • I like this guy.

  • Me too!

  • I'm a Plano homer from Nebraska as well. Rex was a mentor for my dd's grade school - very nice guy.

Unbelievable player - plays with a lot of heart. He'll be a very good contributor to the Huskers - I still have my tickets, but rarely use them - I think I'll go more just to see him play (probably as a jr/sr - I could see him running back kicks as a frosh.

  • Definitely worthy of more than he received. Arguably the 2nd or 3rd best back in TX, not 6th. And 240 overall!?! Are there really 239 players better than him? Burkhead will make a name for himself at Nebraska, how many of those ahead of him do you think will even pan out?

  • rex is my favorite player down here in texas i even know him and his parents cant wait to see him play at my favorite college. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!

  • That's cool, me too.

A lot of people known these players.

My cousin is trying to play on the Huskers.

  • o really where does he live and whats his name

  • He lives in Villa Park California, and he just transfered from Servite to Villa Park. His name is Connor Hayden. He is starting his Jr. so I'll tell you where he goes to college in 2 years.

  • villa park? i hate that school.

  • there is a new saying

    you can't catch 22

p.s. if you're not up to date he changed his number from 20 to 22

  • Trust me, I am up-to-date.

  • man. im a husker fan and i saw rex tear it up against my own school on our turf. im glad he's going to my favorite school so i can at least root for him this time.

  • i got to therapy with rex and talk to him every once in awhile hes very modest and works very hard. great kid and athlete.

  • That's cool!

  • allen is overrated and way too cocky

  • allen also has almost two times as many kids its about time allen wins something. almost 6000 kids? im surprised someone didnt screw up this year and allen doesnt have a prayer of winning it this year.

  • What do you mean?

  • rex is a beast we were best friends in our freshman year.

    GO HUSKERS!!!!!!!

hes gunna be a pro some day

  • How can you say that, when he hasn't even started?

  • he started at the 2nd half of his freshman year!

  • Wow. Pretty good accomplishment. I just put up these videos. Because I know you guys like to watch them. Not because I specifically like this player. You know?

  • ive known him since 7th when i was a schimelphenig hes nice..

i see him every once in a while at plano

  • Cool! This is amazing how many people know these players.

  • ..well, we (allen) shut him dowwnnn. ON OUR WAY TO STATE!!!!!

    GO EAGGGLLLLEEESSS!!

  • Which Eagles? High School?

  • Allen High School

  • I see. Nebraska has a big future when they get guys like this one!

  • When i see him play I know he is a RB but i think of him as a Wes Welker meets Eric Crouch mix. I think he will be a special player at Nebraska and he will help propel us to the top. Go Huskers!

  • Yes. He is a very good player. I agree, GO HUSKERS!

  • Rex is a great representative of Texas. Known him since 4th grade; one of the nicest guys you could imagine, and humble at it!

  • Are you sure you know him? lol. He's a tough player. I hope he sticks with our program and does a great job at Nebraska!

  • We will miss him. Be thankful Nebraska. Best work ethic i have every seen in my life. He works out every minute he can. every since 8th grade. He was able to dunk in 8th grade.

  • i love to see a white guy that has sub 4.5 speed and a 38" vertical! this kid looks like he could be really good. hopefully hell provide a consistent running back in the future, which so far we havent had in awhile (hopefully helu will be that guy in 09).

  • I think rex would be a great slot receiver. he reminds me of wes welker

  • come to think of it, he does seem a little like welker, except welker is probably a little better reciever while burkhead seems like hell be the better running back type. either way, its a good comparison and he should fit well into the nebraska offense. might eventually have similar numbers to lucky in 07

    (1000+ rushing, 700+ recieving).

  • very true!

  • But if you watch his ten yard burst, Rex really pulls away from guys in the first ten yards and still has the vision and enough speed to break long runs when there's a seam in the D.

  • Yeah. I noticed. So what do you guys think? Should I make another video?

  • yes.

  • Hah I think you should give HuskerVision some credit on this video, I know they made it because it was me and two other student workers who spent 3 sleepless nights making it! But with that said rex is a beast!

  • the guy is just packed with muscle. looks like he will thrive in james dobson's weight training program. he will be a freaking monster after a couple years with dobson!

  • lol. People are telling me he is the freak of nature.

  • haha he sure looks like hes gonna be. i watched a video from rivals, rb vs lb or something, and he freaking beasted every single one of those lbs except the last one, which was only because the pass was bad lol. i saw that before he committed to nebraska and i was like "we better freaking get this kid!" lol

  • The guys agility and burst is amazing. He also has quality vision and fights for yds. like a Junk Yard dog. One of the Rivals Scouts, Jeremy Crabtree, admitted that he'd likely be a top 100 prospect if he were black on a t.v appearance. Rex's top end speed compared to 4 and 5 star recruits is average a best though (kind of like a B. Westbrook or K. Moreno, b/c he does everything else so well), but I hear he's working real hard on speed training. You could also say he's a bigger Wes Welker at HB.

  • this boy iz gone be a beast!

  • We'll see!

  • hopefully

  • Yeah, It could be anyone, if this guy leaves us or never is good enough to start, we will still have plenty of guys to use.

  • 0:45 i was there to see that catch on the side lines and man...

i see why the dude is the best
