I don't know, but I think making Minato die is part of what makes 3 so good. It's bittersweet, and not many stories tend to kill off the protagonist... that's part of what makes Persona 3 one of the best RPG's, if not the best.

After finishing this game for the first time, well, i got depressed for more than a week. No other game ever made me cry before. Such an emotional feeling, so mature and deep, indeed a masterpiece.

They'll probably make him come back later in one of the series. As shown on P4 they're started ''Cleansing'' The darkness in people's hearts, the wish for everything to end, which is what keeps Minato locking the door to Nyx. Either way Elizabeth left the velvet room to find a way to bring Minato back so who knows, maybe someday she'll find it and we'll see Minato alive again.

Yes. In 4 (2 years after FES) Margaret says that her sister Elizabeth is trying to bring the MC back. Several Persona Team members have mentioned her return in 5 (weither she important or just a cameo). Also, several Atlus staff had said that there is a good chance that the MC will return. Theirs also several rumors (although I doubt their true) that he'll be in the new 3 & 4 crossover game that'll be out next spring.

It doesn't make sense for everyone to be so bummed out by Minato's death. I mean, he had NO personality at all, yet nobody seemed to give shit when Shinjiro died, and he had tons of personality. (OK, he was kind of a stereotype, and a bit of a douche, but still...)

The thing that I think made this game reach our hearts is that while you play as Minato, we kinda became a part of him as we saw him grow. He slowly became a part of us so that is why when he died it was so epically sad... When we first play this game we're getting used to the controls and the battles so we didnt think much of the character other than that he's a silent-type. At the end of the game however he became a part of us.
Persona 3 is definitely one of the best games in the world. <3
@XxMerunxX it wasnt just the protagonist. it was the other characters as well, they were emotional, the producers showed you clips of their lives without you around, giving them flesh and personalities. one example? Yukari.most think she's bitchy. to me? she was a normal girl that can relate to, stuck in a abnormal situation. but thats the point, the conflicting opinions show how the characters affected us.. P4 was good but it never managed to reach the same heights of emotions.
Comparing this song to "Never More", I am more attached to this song and the game than Persona 4. The game was awesome and like Jingle041 this game left me crying. I felt a personal attachment to it, hard to let go so I decided to play it again and again and again LOL. Great game this is :)

I mean this song sounds an awful lot like memories of the city and it made me think that the bad ending was kind of like an intro to the last month of the game Because the first thing you hear right after starting that path is memories of the city.
I swear this ending while way sadder than P4's ending, I cried in both. If they make a Persona 5, just if there is a possibility, then I hope they be nice to everyone and give him a happy ending, instead of one where he dies like that or gets sent away from his friend and loved ones.

True, but I think it's the characters that made it so amazing. But Persona lacks in gameplay, there's nothing wrong with it but there's nothing great about the battles. OST is good. And I'd say Metal Gear Solid is a close contender. Also thought Xenosaga Episode 3 was really close. The "such a piece of shit" was unnecessary.

@LeoFauston Just because the fog "in humanity's heart" has been lifted doesn't mean that Erebus no longer exists. I'm pretty sure what was meant by that was that Izanami has stopped interfering with humanity, and thus the feelings of humanity. Humanity will never be completely free of grief or hatred, pretty sure that's impossible feat. And considering this is SMT/Persona, I doubt they'd make everyone all happy and lovey-dovey just because some fog and some god is gone now.
@Arashile In a way, Persona and SMT in general adopts a Lovecraftian approach. Every victory is but a temporary setback for the bad guys, in this case Mankind is its own worst enemy.
I was so sad when I watched the end of this one guys Let's play (I kind of ignore his comments) and I cried so much... and I haven't cried that much for a long time it was just emotional to me(All though I didn't cry during from the beginning of the battle to before Minato died...)

Replay from before the bad ending to get the good ending and hear memories of the city play which sounds like a no lyrics version of this whenever you leave the dorm and go around the town. Then hear this once you've beat the game. Put it simple the last 3-5 hours of this game kicked ass becuase it was sad and indicated what was going on through changing the music.

@JHUB3R atlus did a great job with minato. In other games where theres a silent protag(fallout,oblivion) theres no connection cuz he only does wat u make him do. But in Minatos case he has a set character design and does things beyond your control. So its like "i didnt save the world, minato did." I just helped him along his journey
@admiralrandom They did. -Trinity Soul-. It's a loosely connected anime. But it does take place in the Persona universe and followed the events of P3. You can usually find a dubbed version on an anime-site or soemthing.

And in the FES version, in The Answer, we learn he died for fuck all, just to keep humans from touching Nyx, not to kill Nyx. I bawled when I learned that, because such a large sacrifice, dying for what you think is the salvation of the human race, but to die in vein, for nothing... Oh god... The memories...
@TheK12314 hy didnt die in vein he became the great seal to keep peoples calls for death from reaching nyx because they all find out you can kill nyx so instead of sealing nyx he basically became a barrier between the world and nyx so really he did bring salvation :D

And Personally I think Sony shot themselves in the foot by not making the PS3 backwards-compatible . . . . Cause these 2 games are amazing and there are dozens more of PS2 titles that blow anything today out of the waters
@DJKasres The PS3 is backwards-compatible, it depends which model you have. If you have the new slim ones, none of those are backwards-compatible and some of the old thick models are. An easy way to tell if its backwards compatible is if its a thick PS3 with 4 USB ports. The 60 gig is better than the 80 gig if you're going for backwards-compatibility.
It wouldnt hurt to remake the game by adding enough shadow bosses for the 22 major arcana. At the same time make it longer while adding a hard ass dungeon that rewards one with a better ending.
I wish Minato entered a coma. So the Kirijo group keeps him preserved until they come up with a way to heal him. When they do fix him its been several years so everyone he knew has passed away. But has a new threat to humanity to deal with.

He is your avatar in the world of P3.
Its the reason why its so easy to get attached to him.
Hell, it holds true for tons of SMT protagonists in the various games.
I am never gonna forget this game, its the one game where I felt that my choices truly affected others, the immersion was brilliant.

Comparing this song to "Never More", I am more attached to this song and the game than Persona 4. The game was awesome and like Jingle041 this game left me crying. I felt a personal attachment to it, hard to let go so I decided to play it again and again and again LOL. Great game this is :)

Also don't know about anybody else but does anybody think it was intended for people to get the bad ending first? I mean this song sounds an awful lot like memories of the city and it made me think that the bad ending was kind of like an intro to the last month of the game Because the first thing you hear right after starting that path is memories of the city.

I swear this ending while way sadder than P4's ending, I cried in both. If they make a Persona 5, just if there is a possibility, then I hope they be nice to everyone and give him a happy ending, instead of one where he dies like that or gets sent away from his friend and loved ones.

There is one VERY negative aspect of playing Persona 3.........
it pretty much killed the PS2 for good :P
every single other game in the PS2 is such a piece of shit compared to this one, its so good you literally wont ever feel the same way about videogames again. No other protagonist will be as compelling, no other sad moment will be sadder, no other soundtrack will be more awesome.......

True, but I think it's the characters that made it so amazing. But Persona lacks in gameplay, there's nothing wrong with it but there's nothing great about the battles. OST is good. And I'd say Metal Gear Solid is a close contender. Also thought Xenosaga Episode 3 was really close. The "such a piece of shit" was unnecessary.

@BloodyFingersify Which could easily be replaced with tarot card if they really were scared of that, even if fans bitched. The Evokers were never that important and no other Persona user in the series has ever needed them outside of the Users from Persona 3 (probably because they weren't directly aided by Phil or Izanami)..

.. gee. Broaden your horizons. The games are amazing (Mainly 3), but I don't find other games to be lacking in comparison. Persona was lacking in gameplay and graphics. Try Shadow of the Colossus.

@LeoFauston Just because the fog "in humanity's heart" has been lifted doesn't mean that Erebus no longer exists. I'm pretty sure what was meant by that was that Izanami has stopped interfering with humanity, and thus the feelings of humanity. Humanity will never be completely free of grief or hatred, pretty sure that's impossible feat. And considering this is SMT/Persona, I doubt they'd make everyone all happy and lovey-dovey just because some fog and some god is gone now.

I was so sad when I watched the end of this one guys Let's play (I kind of ignore his comments) and I cried so much... and I haven't cried that much for a long time it was just emotional to me(All though I didn't cry during from the beginning of the battle to before Minato died...)

Replay from before the bad ending to get the good ending and hear memories of the city play which sounds like a no lyrics version of this whenever you leave the dorm and go around the town. Then hear this once you've beat the game. Put it simple the last 3-5 hours of this game kicked ass becuase it was sad and indicated what was going on through changing the music.

Geez.. I cried for hours after I beat this game. Seriously. Goodbye, every, single, meer shred of manlieness.. which I, sorta, never had XD. No, but, seriously, this left me in a state of crying, eating waffles, and quietly flipping through the TV channels for atleast a week.

@JHUB3R atlus did a great job with minato. In other games where theres a silent protag(fallout,oblivion) theres no connection cuz he only does wat u make him do. But in Minatos case he has a set character design and does things beyond your control. So its like "i didnt save the world, minato did." I just helped him along his journey

@admiralrandom They did. -Trinity Soul-. It's a loosely connected anime. But it does take place in the Persona universe and followed the events of P3. You can usually find a dubbed version on an anime-site or soemthing.

@admiralrandom Well, personally, I though it was OK. It's a mixed-opinion thing. It features very little original characters from P3, but it's ment to explain the impact destroying the Dark Hour. Seriously. Try it out. It's not good, but not bad. That's for you to decide.

I cried because of the valor of the sacrifice Minato made. He died to save his friends, his loved ones, the world... And in the FES version, in The Answer, we learn he died for fuck all, just to keep humans from touching Nyx, not to kill Nyx. I bawled when I learned that, because such a large sacrifice, dying for what you think is the salvation of the human race, but to die in vein, for nothing... Oh god... The memories...

@TheK12314 hy didnt die in vein he became the great seal to keep peoples calls for death from reaching nyx because they all find out you can kill nyx so instead of sealing nyx he basically became a barrier between the world and nyx so really he did bring salvation :D

Ah, I see. I had a similar experience. When I was 9, I almost drowned, and my life was flashing before my eyes, and when I came to, I was wondering what it would be like to die. Simplesmente Um personagem que me descreve Minato com o passar do tento ele deixou de ser um personagem e começou a ser um estilo de vida andar com a mão no bolso sempre proteger pessoas que pra você são especiais.Minato me encinou muita coisa agradeço a ele e espero que ele volte! @ninhquanghieu exactly like me except you're probably a guy and i'm a girl playing as the guy and i cried for almost a week but i then realise he died to protect billions of people maybe it's just me but after i finished watching a LP of the answer and i lied crying in bed i heard a voice in my head saying "Don't cry, it's okay, i'll protect you." you probably think i'm crazy but Minato will always have a place in my heart, whether he's real or not.

Grrr, i really wish I still had my PS2 . . . I love this game and wish that I could have gotten Persona 4 . . .
And Personally I think Sony shot themselves in the foot by not making the PS3 backwards-compatible . . . . Cause these 2 games are amazing and there are dozens more of PS2 titles that blow anything today out of the waters

@DJKasres The PS3 is backwards-compatible, it depends which model you have. If you have the new slim ones, none of those are backwards-compatible and some of the old thick models are. An easy way to tell if its backwards compatible is if its a thick PS3 with 4 USB ports. The 60 gig is better than the 80 gig if you're going for backwards-compatibility.

It wouldnt hurt to remake the game by adding enough shadow bosses for the 22 major arcana. At the same time make it longer while adding a hard ass dungeon that rewards one with a better ending.
I wish Minato entered a coma. So the Kirijo group keeps him preserved until they come up with a way to heal him. When they do fix him its been several years so everyone he knew has passed away. But has a new threat to humanity to deal with.
