Since were going to talk racism this brings back a story for me. I'm a white guy that did 3 years in prison. I was in a minimum security prison cafeteria once eating lunch. We were having baked chicken that day, it was quite good. There were about 300 black guys in there and about 10 white guys. Some black guy wanted to give his piece of chicken in a trade( I can't remember what for, but it was of little value.) I'll never forget that I got TWO pieces of chicken that day.
@20sackjack I don't know what prisons you were in, but most of the ones I was in the food was terrible also, however, at that minimum security one, once in a while there was some good food including that baked chicken. If there is one thing black people could do in prison, it was cook some good ass chicken.

Therefore they lived with farms all around them. If you are poor and starving I would imagine 2 of the easiest things to grab and run with would be produce....like a mellon or grab a chicken by the neck. Fried chicken is, as with most of the things that Whitey attributes to Black folks, is merely southern. Therefore they lived with farms all around them. If you are poor and starving I would imagine 2 of the easiest things to grab and run with would be produce....like a mellon or grab a chicken by the neck. Since there were more poor starving blacks than poor starving whites the stereotype just stuck with the blacks

I was blessed by being poor that I never knew I lived on 'the wrong side of town'. I was spared all this crap I see today. I never knew there was any difference between myself and a black person at all. No more different than me than a female was. That's where I BECAME. I became a human being. Later when I joined the military and I trained alongside black people this was reinforced. Further...when I was deployed I saw the same thing.
We are ALL brothers from the same mother. Be kind.

In the present day, there are successful, hard-working people of all races, nothing is stopping anyone from getting a basic vocational certificate in a valuble medical field or starting an online business very cheaply, but many poor people have just given up.
