  • how to be a bigger douche at guitar than those who actually play.

  • The best part of this game is "dynamic difficulty." If you start getting the hang of a song, the game adds more notes, etc. If you start to mess up, it takes some out. I am by no means a guitarist. My brother on the other hands has been playing for decades. I just want to learn a few songs to pluck out. I heard this game was coming out, then my brother had mentioned he was selling a guitar. The timing couldn't have been better.

Would my brother like this game? Probably not. But, I love it.

  • i live in the worst country of the universe (France) and i still wonder why we don't have this amazing game, better import from North America i guess...

  • @arnicane don't worry, around may or so you can torrent it from like piratebay or something :)) But you'll have to buy the cord for it a guess, which is why amazon was made :D

  • I mastered this song within 4 hours, slides, chords, singles, everything, lol. Rocksmith is the best guitaring game out there. It teaches you skills that you can use in real life band situations...

  • well, this better be good for my housemate!

  • just got this game today. it was a waste of 79 dollars.

  • @pivetlord13 haha! well at least you gave it a chance

  • @pivetlord13 its 59 dollars on amazon

  • 2 player?

  • @renzes123 yes, theres even a trophy for it.

  • how well is this game for intermediate and advanced players. It seems like a game for beginners.

  • @aguileogonzalez it's definitely not for advanced players (unless you particularly wanted to know how to play specific songs the game offers and you think 80$ is a reasonable price for it, or you want to rack up a hundred easy trophies). Definitely aimed towards the beginner, and will take you up to a confident intermediate (that's including "gold" rank on all the drills the game has to offer).

  • @thoughtsthroughsound including* - if you get

  • @aguileogonzalez it is for intermediate, it gets harder as you get more notes correctly....its not hard as playing it, the hard part is reading the way they write the tabs

  • Luckily I have an electric guitar =3

  • And it cost less then every amp that it can use lol

  • Guitar hero is for pussies that can't play rocksmith!

  • Amazon user reviews give this game 4 1/2 stars. I've owned it for a week and I give it 5 stars. I'm an avid musician but no guitarist. Though the game doesn't teach you how to read music, it works on your dexterity and endurance (the skill that is most crucial and takes the longest to master on any instrument). It teaches you all types of chords (power chords,2nds, suspended, 7ths...) bends, harmonics, hammer ons, hammers offs, scales and i'm only in my 10th hour of play. i highly recommend

  • Question: If someone hasn't got a guitar how can he play Rocksmith?

  • @Pides13 You don't. You buy one.

  • @Rocksmithgame PLZZZZZZZ PLZ Make an in game 7 string guitar add on with 7 string guitar songs

  • So many trolls out there.

  • You cant really plug in any guitar it needs to have a output

  • alright, ive been playin for 9 years. got this for christmas. the thing that kinda makes me mad is that everybody and thier mother is gonna think they can shred now. =[

  • There's a slogan that Rocksmith completely missed. "Guitar Hero may be fun, but Rocksmith will get you laid."

  • Does this work with bass?

  • @Rinok49 that's actually something I want to find out

  • why is it that people need a video game to learn guitar? save 60 bucks and just learn. plus, ill bet that most of you will say "yellow string" instead of the actual name of the string.

  • @thealieninja so what? the fact that you prefer to call "yellow string" like "A" or "second\fifth one" don't bother anyone. anyway, it's better way to learn something like that, - play with it.

  • @Wloudeemre .. really? lol. thats like saying i prefer to call an airplane a bookshelf.

  • @driscollcatholic its not exactly like, but what wrong with it?

  • im gonna feel shitty for people who have to play this with a shitty guitar

  • you're gonna have to pay for those walls...

  • justsomerandomdude22 Just calm down it was a question and you answered it now chill da fuck out and play some Rocksmith with your new brand new HD TV

  • rockband sucks rocksmith is awesome

  • HOLY SHIT

  • Holy Shit! When did this come out!!! I was looking for something i can use to plug my guitar in my PS3 or PC!!

  • How did the Marines get a 48" Flatscreen Tv ?

  • @GoodDayAmerica A. they are soldiers not marines. dont insult us by calling us so pretentious as a marine and B. we (anyone can get them army navy marines airforce. get tvs in country. they dont issue them, just use your hazard duty or hostile fire pay to buy one off amazon and it gets there in like a month. then when we switch out with a new unit we sell it at half price to the guys coming in so that way we dont have to ship it home. i know i know we are crafty little buggers.

  • This is just a rip off of rock band 3's pro guitar

  • @agentrob8 No.

the "pro guitar" is still buttons and software reacting to their pressing. Rocksmith is not that.

In this you actually PLAY the guitar and there's no pre-coded reactions. Rocksmith reacts and recognizes the frequencies you are playing. Its the very first "game" where you are actually PLAYING a real guitar and not a control that looks like guitar :)

  • Ah, this video must depict all the people waiting for Rocksmith to come out on the PC (Now May 2012).

Ubisoft you really fucked up, congrats.

  • I hear there is a lag, unlike guitar hero or rockband. Is it true?

  • Apparently this game teaches you how to play guitar AND be the Kool Aid man!!!

  • @Underwhelmingplywood Dude, you don't have to be so negative. I took lessons from a guitar teacher every day for a whole year and I still suck (obviously I need more dedication than that) but I see this game as making it fun to learn guitar, not long and grueling like it is the "old-fashioned" way.

  • This game is becoming an insult to guitarists everywhere.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood I see this game a more of a way that intermediate guitarists can practice and learn without taking lessons. It wont make it any easier. truth is, if you wanna learn guitar, you gotta keep learning and doing the drills. I'm a self taught guitarist and i see rocksmith as a training tool more than a learning tool. Getting good is hard work. I think that most people will buy it and will leave it after like 4 days of playing because they wanna shred like slash instantly.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood trust me, nothing will make learning guitar so easy everyone can do it. People are too lazy to get off their asses and actually learn the scales and the chords let alone all the different picking and fretting techniques. Nothing will replace REALLY learning how to play guitar!! XD

  • @Unholyspaghetti

A good musician is determined by their ability to understand music theory, read notes, and have rythm. These things can only be obtained through years of hard work and patience. If you can only read tabs, you don't understand how to solo or build songs off of chords, and you can't hold a beat, I don't want you in my band. I believe this game could be really useful however to those who play OTHER instruments who may have an easier time switching their skills to guitar.

  • @xXZANDER1994Xx yeah but rhythm is not really thought, it's more of a, you have it or you don't type of deal. The thing is that people can still be good at guitar even though they don't have the base of that musical theory. Hendrix had no idea how to read sheet music. The thing i love about the guitar is that it's super versatile. You can be a OK guitarist even if you don't know the base of musical theory. BECAUSE it's so simple. I play bassoon so i know where ur comming from though

  • @Unholyspaghetti This game isn't supposed to make you learn guitar, it's supposed to make learning to play easier and more fun and addicting for people. It's not supposed to turn you into a master. It's just supposed to teach you some basics and get you started and interested in playing and taking things to a new level.

  • @separator94 then why would their main marketing line for the game be "we can make anyone learn to play the guitar" ??

  • @Unholyspaghetti I think this guitar will help beginners to gain more mobility in the fingers, more speed, in order to perform techniques.

Then, if he wants to become a musician, he can dive into the world of scales, improvisation and theory.

On one hand this is bad because it will bring a fake musicians and guitarists surface congested environment ...

  • @MrFredRhoads i see what you mean there but anyone can tell a fake guitarist from a real one.

  • @Unholyspaghetti Yes, this is true...

  • @Unholyspaghetti i know some chords but no scales, does that make me a person who isn't learning real guitar? considering I'm using tabs but i can alt pick and pinch harmonics and AH and hammer ons and pull offs and triplets and pick sweep?

  • @crysisxforce Pinch harmonics and AH are the same thing just to get that clear... How the fuck can you pick sweep and shred without knowing what key you're in and what notes to play? How do you even learn to pick sweep without knowing any scales or arpeggios? I'm sorry but I call bullshit. You can't even think of shredding without knowing minor and major scales. Without scales you can't tell what notes will go well together. We enter now, in the world of REAL harmonics.

  • @Unholyspaghetti I mean Natural harmonics.. as I said I read tabs. AKA A7X has sweeping in there solos.. I use it for increasing dexterity and speed. and nice language it makes you sound intelligent..

  • @crysisxforce First off, grammar. In this case, your "AKA" would have to be replace by and "i.e."Yeah, but just reading tabs won't get you anywhere musically. It would be smart of you to actually listen and read cause you might learn something. What I'm about to say might shock you but, tabs aren't worth shit musically. Without a musical base, you're rendered useless without tabs. So no, you are not making music. You are rather imitating someone else music.

  • @crysisxforce (2) Either way, hammer ons, pull offs and alt picking are just a bunch of techniques that people learn in practice. In order to truly master an instrument, weather it be the guitar or the piano, you must know musical theory. Try playing the piano without first learning scales and basic theory. Without that, you're an empty shell. You won't ever be able to jam or to play with anyone if u don't know what they mean when they tell u to play in a certain key.

  • @Unholyspaghetti The most efficient way to learn is by being taught by an actual person.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood I totally agree but it's possible to learn another way :D

  • @Unholyspaghetti Yeah, but I still hate the ads for this game saying "Anyone can play guitar." It's just a slap in the face.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood aw yeah of course but its just marketing, don't let that shit get to you. I think that anyone can play if they put all their effort into it and if they have a real passion for music and guitar. :D

  • @Unholyspaghetti Yeah, that's true. Half the people that buy this game don't have that, though lol. So many people will drop this game.

  • @Unholyspaghetti Its like wanting washboard abs with little or no exercise. I taught myself bass, guitar and harmonica. It took years of wanting to do it.

  • @1216saab yep. music is work work work if you want to get really good

  • @Unholyspaghetti But it's a progressive learning process...They will create some method of learning in steps...

  • @Unholyspaghetti

I like how you used the word "training" rather than "learning", because it defiantly strengthens your fingers. I'm a fairly experienced guitarist, but i hadn't played in a while, and when i first got Rocksmith i was having trouble with barre chords. After playing it for about a week my muscles had strengthened and i was playing like i used too.

ps, no Hendrix? i was disappointed.

  • @420Bartman666 XD yeah forgot about good ol jimi

  • @Unholyspaghetti What would your opinion be on people that only like games for their core mechanics? I LOVED guitar hero because it was just a simple game - It was a glorified QTE simulator, and it was fucking fun to play. I played the shit out of it and got a few FCs, but then lost intrest in it cause the majority of the soundtrack sucked. Do you think that with the PC release I would be able to just pick this thing up? I've wanted to learn guitar for a while now and i got one for christmas.

  • @SiriusXification Well guy, there is a huge differance between this game and Guitar hero. This is more than just a game. As i said, i see it as a tool more than just a simple game because in my opinion, people who buy this game will buy it to learn guitar and to figure out if they have a talent for it. If you wanna learn guitar, this game is great for beginners BECAUSE of its core mechanic. Now if you'll have the drive to learn guitar for real, you have to want to.

  • @Unholyspaghetti It's cause guitar takes practice. Don't expect to be playing like a pro in 5 weeks unless you're the next Jimi Hendrix. To play guitar, like any other instrument, takes practice and lots of it. Guitar has Major scales, Chromatic scales, Minor scales. It's an instrument, not a toy and a lot of people tend to forget that. It may be easy to learn but to master the art of playing guitar is quite a different story. You have to love it.

  • @SiriusXification Either way it's your choice. It also depends on how old you are. Learning guitar requires patience and passion. I Got my first guitar when i was 6 years old and i hated it. It's not that I was expecting to play like a pro, it's that i also got a little book that told you the scales and what not. I'm 15 now and I've been playing for like 3 years no courses. I would tell you to try the new guitar out for 2 weeks, see if you like it and THEN buy the game.

  • @Unholyspaghetti because a 70$ investment isn't nothing. For example, you can get good without the game and you could put 70$ towards an OK amp, a good amp is about 300$. But yeah just learn some basics, decide of you like it and maybe buy the game if you want to. Inbox me if you have any other questions, I would be glad to help.

  • @Unholyspaghetti You sure have a lot to say. Almost all of the comments on this one page are by you as I'm looking for some funny and original ones.

  • @Unholyspaghetti agreed, it is the same old story with those fitness games too. But for those who really wants to play guitar but need something else to motivate more than a boring flat old class (imho), this game will be nice.

  • Song?

  • these guys rage like crazy

  • These Rocksmith players look very pissed off by kicking their walls. :S

  • @cheapcape: real music and rhythm, classically correct in composition, and performed with meaning rules in every genre, and overules non-musically informed sentiment on my genre of choice being superior to those genres which I do not like, for non-musical reasons SHUT UP. iF YOU LISTEN TO DECENT RAP YOU SHOULD BE FAR LESS LAME IN YOUR DISSES. i BET YOU DON'T EVEN LISTEN TO IT AS YOU PLAY IT.

  • @cheapcape no...

  • @cheapcape LOL

  • Having fun learning... We are lucky as a generation of rockers!!!

  • so do you need a real guitar? Aw that sucks, I wanna learn but I got no money but I do got money for MW3!

  • @cheapcape hey blood and gore rules but music rocks hard!

Who wants to sniff pixie sticks?

  • I searched for italian pizza song and this crap came up, fml

  • Wow. I'm learning guitar right now but at least I have the pacience to do it the real way.

  • Haha, love this ad, AND the song is Stone Temple Pilots' "Between the Lines" -- awesome!!

  • ok, will this teach me (and my kids) to at least play some basic guitar? i have an old guitar that i never learned to play, so... it must be cheaper than lessons, right?

  • well i think this is a good way to learn how to play guitar people are just afraid that the rock will die but it will come back people have to understand that the notes your hitting dont have to make sense as long as it sounds good then your on to something

  • Dude, this game is ridiculous! The controllers cost at least $200.

  • @LysanderxX ..What are you talking about?? You dont need any "controller", your guitar is the controller!! You can buy the game itself that comes with the special cord needed for only $80 and then you can plug in any guitar you want in to your Xbox, PS3, or what ever you have. The $200 package you are talking about is for people that dont already own their own guitar cause it comes with a real Epithone Les Paul Jr.

  • @damon323 I was making with the joke. You need a guitar to play, and guitars usually cost some good money, ect. :p

  • STONE TEMPLE PILOTS !!

  • This is why Rock died...when Rock was "real" you had to learn your shit by ear...internet ruined real "life".

  • @peeptalk fuckin agreed man....i never had someone so much as teach me how to hold a pick ...everything i learned was from years of practice, patience, and marijuana use ..lmao

  • @peeptalk You realize the irony being on YouTube blaming the internet for ruining "real life", right?

  • @chaff5 It gets everyone, I know it's ironic...but yeah :(

And what's the use now :( You can't go back to the good old times...We are not enough to change this generation and bring back good old rock...or are we?

  • she had a bawws looking sg

  • Check out real air guitar on my page!

  • Why need this when you got Marty Shwarts?

  • They need some real songs in there.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this for wii tell me.

  • I have the game for sale at 60 bucks with the cord if anyone wants to buy! its been played 1 time only. and i am too much music oriented to play this game! reading notes are confusing if you study music! message me if you want it!

  • would not the fact that you own an electric guitar be enough motivation to want to learn to play it ? when you have a guitar cord you plug it into an overdriven amplifier not a damn video game console. i lold too @ all the people just playing down stroked two note chords in the commercial.

  • I'm a guitarist teaching a friend of mine and I plan to use this as a tool to help get her more focused (severe ADD)

  • does the game work with the original xbox 360 model?

  • We are def gonna jam this!

  • @peasley9 i have to much homework and your arrogance know it all attitude is annoying, So im blocking you.

  • @peasley9 "I don't see many true guitarists even trying to play this game and i don't see many talented guitarists coming out of this game either" yeah your close minded, this game hasnt even been for more than a month and you act like you know the future of everybody who's playing. Your arrogant and close minded because you speak so boldly about a game and about players who have only had the game for a month. I already have to deal with arrogant people like you in college.

  • This is one of the biggest poser inventions I have ever see!! Whats next a machine teaching you how to throw a football instead of dad? A machine teaching kids how to cook, sow and clean instead of mom? There are some things that should be learned from a human. Music is so passionate and heartfelt, it should be taught by something that has a heart and soul, a real live person!!!

  • @bodyjar1000 it don't make a difference where you learn or how you learn it. if your passionate about it you will try to do anything that can help. This will help. plus some people cant afford a guitar teacher, or don't know anyone that plays guitar. the self learners can use this too help somethings.

  • @jr13323 I respect that opinion. I just feel that learning a bunch of popular songs from a video game is not going to be a good influence for the music of the future. Many of the great musicians from the past were either self taught or had someone pass it on to them. It's just too bad that we're all getting so lazy with our lives that we cant do anything without the influence of a machine. I would think through public school we could learn basic notes or read a book on music in our spare time

  • @bodyjar1000 That is true we are getting lazy. It would be better to learn from a guitar teacher or a friend. the people that play this game will only get so far in guitar if they ONLY play this game. the people that really wanna play will play this plus get help from a teacher.

Point is.. people that read tabs, go to teachers, and practice everyday until their hands fall off (like me lol) will make it much further than people with no dedication or motivation besides this game.

  • @jr13323 Yes, good point. I hope the best for beginners, that this will maybe ignite something better. It is a step above guitar hero / rockband which are glorified karaoke machines that make some people think they are rock stars or real musicians. I guess as long as people are having fun and it promotes learning music, that's a positive. It's just not the method for me

  • @bodyjar1000 I'm with you not my method either. i learned from friends, family, teachers, and good old tabs.

  • @jr13323 how lol im just asking cuz ive been messing around with tabs myself ...but maybe theres some sort of step im missing... are we just supposed to play the tabs and build our skills?

  • @link281615 yea that pretty much what you do. you play the whole tab sheet and practice.

  • @bodyjar1000 What does being lazy have to do with buying this game, and what do you have against machines. You used a machine to type your message.

  • @centralbeeee I did use a machine to type this message, that is correct. Unfortunately letter writing and news papers don't do the job anymore and soon I guess we wont have music teachers or be able to read or write as good because we have so much technology to help us out. I'm not trying to bash machines, they do a lot for us. I'm just saying that music is a passionate expression from humans and I prefer not to be taught by a machine. The discussion I had with jr3323 was reasonable, please look

  • @bodyjar1000 "I guess we wont have music teachers or be able to read or write as good because we have so much technology to help us out" why wouldnt we be able to read or write as good because of technology. Human beings are more likely to be inconsistent. Also it seems more and more society is becoming more individualistic, why deal with someone elses emotions when you can get taught an unbiased lesson. And i dont understand how being taught by a machine takes the passion away

  • @centralbeeee This is just my opinion. I learned music from humans, so I'm supporting my background. I learned from a 65 year old man who charged $12 per lesson and it was in the ghetto when I was in my mid teens. He had me learn timing, chords and theory. He also had me improvise lead while he played rhythm, which I was shy about, but the pressure made me better. He may not have been a Satriani, but he gave me a real foundation to build on when I went on my own later.

  • @centralbeeee The issue that I have with some technology is that it can make us impersonal and distant from others. It seems like when I get in groups anymore everybody is playing with their phones. I am guilty of the same thing. When it comes down to it though, do you want to be playing music ALONE in your house with the t.v. or do you want to play in a REAL band with REAL people for REAL people? Isn't that the whole idea of music?? I'll stick with the traditional way & play in a REAL band

  • @bodyjar1000 i dont play with my phone while talking to people, because i consider that rude. And as far as being in a band goes, id rather know how to play all the instruments or hire out musicians, because ive read about to many bands breaking up and disrespecting each other. Why deal with a drug addict bass player when you can just learn to play it yourself. Why worry about leaving your children with some could be pedophile when they can just learn from the tv.

  • @centralbeeee I'm glad to hear that you don't do that. I guess people have different experiences depending on your background and who you know. People can be scummy, we have all had bad experiences with people. I was fortunate to be around some good people who loved music, not everybody has that advantage. Like I said before as long as people are having a good time and learning something there's no harm in that and I wish everyone to have success in the path they choose. You as well

  • @bodyjar1000 and after i graduate college, and start making more money, i will eventually take private lessons, but for now this is the only thing alot of people can afford. 12 dollars an hour is expensive for alot of people. and like i said before it just seems like i have less faith in the human race than you do

  • @bodyjar1000 i guess when it comes down to it, it just seems like you have more trust in the human race than i do. Theirs nothing wrong with that though.

  • @bodyjar1000 lol you do realize that people have learned music from paper for hundreds and thousands of years. and that has less soul than a machine does. it does not even move. your so retarded. your like the grandmas that say you dang kids with your cell phones!!!! when i was little our phone stayed on a wire and thats the way it should stay because change is BAD!!!!!! we like no variety. if you want no variety go listen to some pop music on the mainstream while watching the cubs

  • @GodIsFake69 I hear ya, I'll admit that I am somewhat resistant to change at times. I did not make this comment to attack anyone though, just to voice an opinion, so please don't call me names and pretend like you know what kind of person I am. If you want to contribute to the conversation then tell me why this is a good invention and how it will benefit others and not how you think I am a retard. Thanks

  • @bodyjar1000 i think it's a benefit because it shows kids a different type of music which most kids are oblivious to these days. most people listen to pop. the whole reason i lost respect for pop. is for one, they never play their stuff live and if they ever do it's just a backing track with them singing over the original. and plus too much cheating like autotuning and drum machines. ive played this game and it really helps you to decide if you really want to take that extra step to a guitarist

  • @bodyjar1000 lol plus guitar hero got me playing real guitar bc i was so good at guitar hero and people kept telling me i should play real guitar bc guitar hero is so nerdy. so i was like what the hell, it's a challenge so i tried and i was hooked. now i'm in a band and i play drums guitar bass and piano and i sing. ive been playing guitar for four years and the rest for about a year and a half since i got in the band. sorry for being so rude before lol

  • @GodIsFake69 I agree pop music in this decade has become a joke. People in pop used to at least be able to sing well. I'm definitely for the promotion of rock music, so that's a plus. I prefer music with soul and meaning to it. I hope people do benefit and learn no matter what way they choose to do it, this is just not the way I prefer learning. People do need to be introduced to good music though, I don't like the way mainstream is going. Hopefully this will help in that area as well.

  • can i use a schecter hellraiser c-1 with this shit?cause i actually play guitarand i think this will be fun...finnally!!a game i can beat in one night lol

  • @underbass35 Yes you can, any guitar. You plug the chord that comes with the game into your standard input jack.

  • I'm sorry, if some fag was playing a stupid guitar game and they kicked down my wall.... I'd beat the shit out of them!

  • i typed in nyan cat guitar cover and it brought me here. wonder if this game will teach me how to play it xD

  • Most expensive controller ever :(

  • Just tried this out at my brother's. It's very nice for instant feed back. Yes, while it may not teach you theory, a good teacher could supplement he's pupils with this game as a teaching aid. It will help keep the students interested due to the feedback and visuals. I like the game, and my sister who's never played guitar thought it was fun and she was able to improve in just a few tries. Of course your mileage will vary but it's fun and addicting. Take heed, it may cause your fingers to bleed.

  • Are you implying that by playing this game, I can kick through walls?

  • @PierreSophy ya it also implying that if you jump of the edge of a cliff you could be able to fly but what do i know about tv these days lol no offense.

  • ahahaHAHAHAHAH I GOT HERE BY TYPING GAYEST SONG EVER

  • why the hell couldnt make it also for the wii it has two plugs in the back nobody said the wii always had to be wireless >:(

  • well its better than having a guitar and being able to play something instead of nothing. besides some teacher are duchess . im pretty sure once a begginer gets the hang of playing a real song he will start to explore and try new things on his own. this game is excellent for real world application for starters but not rock star material.it wont teach you how to be creative

  • i might get my bro this game, since he's too impatient and shortspanned to learn the old fashioned way. i might play it too for the mini games, seems like fun

  • Everyone and their mom will know how to play the same 20 songs after a month of this game's release without understanding how or why the notes they're playing make sense . Hurray for that .

  • @TheFinnlozada not even a guitar class teaches you that, for that you need music theory

  • @TheFinnlozada Is there really a need to know why or how the notes they are playing make sense? I think not.

  • @TheFinnlozada So pretty much the same way we learned to play as kids? I've got bad news for you but this is how everyone learns unless you had a classical piano education first. Most of us (except the unlucky like me) just picked up the guitar learned some songs from a teacher or friend and then went back and filled in the theory later when they got serious about it. This is no different. It's good that it will expand music to those who otherwise wouldn't have the patience.
