As a huge DQVIII fan I'm still mad that cause, of this we have to wait sooo long for another console DQ. You just can't replicate the same type of experience on a DS and I'm also disappointed there is really no story or actual characters which I think has always been the best and most underrated part of DQ games.

@taxidriver2929 the stories have always been about the sub-plots in DQ. even in DQVIII you had to solve problems one town at a time. over course the main plot was epic, but IX's story shouldn't be looked down either. the angel(you) has plenty of story in the main plot, even in some of the weekly quests, and the NPCs' stories more than make up for the lack of other PCs.

i was pissed when i saw the "make your own character" lazy programming bullshit, but excited when i saw after almost 20 YEARS squaresoft makes another multi player RPG (maybe instead of prostituting the name Mana they could duplicate the original formula again) but then i saw its on the DS and not the PS3 or even the WII. Square Enix should be embarrassed to showcase this game at this years E3. It's taken them ONE YEAR TO RELEASE THIS GAME Stateside. It's not like they had to redub voices or anything. It should have taken them 3 months max to get this game ready for a release outside Japan and even that's pushing it. Simply pitiful...

@danny6290 i'm sure it's been done for a while now. they just want to make it iconic to be released exactly a year later. there's also that with the weekly quests this game is actually pretty huge, so testers have to go through everything for quality assurance and make sure that no bugs accidentally pop up in the process.

@DannyDMF2 to be honest, you're not far off. as DQ is pretty much a national treasure in Japan, they're better off releasing stuff on the consoles that casual games, or expanded audience as Nintendo's CEO likes to call them. sure. PS3 might be more popular in among "core" gamers there, but DS is still the #1 console in sales.

So in short, it's more like Japan likes Nintendo better.
