I am sorry to say you are wrong in some aspects. 1- Juan Santamaria died in the battle of Rivas, a city located in Nicaragua, on April 11th, 1856, fighting the fillibusters. Santa Rosa was a previous battle (March 20th, 1856) in which Costa Ricans confronted invading filibusters coming from Nicaragua. 2- The "casona" was the base of the filibusters, not of the Costa Ricans. The Costa Rican army arrived and defeated the U.S. filibusters in fifteen minutes.
