  • mannnn by the looks of #1554 you would never think she would be restored! as for 972.....PLEASEE!!! ;(

  • So the 1098 is back to Port Clinton..right?

  • @4202EJW yes

  • @4202EJW this is the first time the 1098's been there.

  • will 1098 ever run again someday

  • @Strasburg1991 Ye when the money & time is raised.

  • The last intercity passenger train to serve Jim Thorpe was the Interstate Express from Philadelphia to Syracuse with connections to Buffalo and Albany, NY and Montreal. Gas was maybe 20 cents a gallon. Well it's not anymore, and Amtrak for the most part runs sold out. It's time to bring thru modern Tilt Train Passenger Service to the Lehigh Valley. The Interstate Express died because it was a mail and pullman train. The highway people got the mail put on highways. The train was very popular.

  • That video was taken on my birthday.

  • A little known bit of info...

Where the 1098 is pictured in this film, on the pit track, is where she was moved under her own power in 1998... So hard to believe that 11 years has already passed since then... They came so close to having her out and about again... If only...

  • @notalott A) SHE MOVED UNDER HER OWN POWER IN 1998?!!!!! So close but yet so far!!!! B)What happened to the locomotive at 3:35? What's the history behind it? There are no videos of it running, I've never seen it run...so what's her story?

  • @guitboxchicken 1098 there are 1 or two vis of her here...the 1098 was sold to Andy Muller (Read. & north) along with all the rail tours equpt...1098 is now stored at R&N headquarters in Port Clinton. She was moved there a few months back

  • @jimbo2317 Ok, so what happened to that faded yellow and black diesel locomotive that I believe was painted for Amtrak? It's at 3:35. I've only ever seen a few of this type of diesel locomotive. I can't make out the road number in this video.

  • @guitboxchicken Dunno...my friend notalott would know...he worked for rail tours

  • @guitboxchicken I you mean 2.35.

I think it is a Santa Fe (blue and yellow) CF7. The are converted F-units. I also noticed a B&O wagon top caboose.

So a good collection of stuff.

  • @guitboxchicken The 1098 moved herself around a few times in 97 and 98.. A one and then two-man crew of Strasburg vets were working on her freelance..

The locomotive at 3:35 is the 1098.

  • That little steamer at 2:03... is that the one sitting down by the Tamaqua Station?

  • yes

  • I never knew 1098 was Canadian Pacific. And I like the loco at 2:35.

  • That was definitly Mr. Mart, but I caught it at 4:42. I "worked" with him on the Stewartstown.

  • Yup, that was Uncle George...

And me again walking in front of you camera..

  • The Good Old Day's of Rail Tours. May Goerge Hart RIP. He did this world good by providing us all a great place to have some good rail fun. I rode behind 1098 a few times. Great Video. Frame 4:42. I think you caught Mr. Hart walking.

    Len.
