  • Are Russian ladies all so beatiful! Who is the blonde at 1:02? The Brunette dancing at 1:47? I'm ready to travel to Mother Russia. Wolfetone427@yahoo.com

  • @WolfeTone427 polish are cute as well. the downside is they are total headcases and masters of the headgames... after all its a chess and kgb country :)

  • the beatles were to good 4 this world

  • This represents Russia has been occupied by western at cultural level, which is sad for me.

  • You have to notice the magic this guy has with his audience. Picks the perfect song and these people forget about their problems and everyone is singing, dancing and smiling. Like I said before, I've seen him live in concert and he is one hell of a showman.

  • And now since diskobanger feels that Paul can't sing, he will post a YouTube of him singing the same song to thousands of his adoring fans! What? He has no adoring fans and sings like a pig?

  • I was proud to have been in Red Square a few times ice skating and such and to have traveled a bit and be marrying a russian lady, and I like the heck out of russians!

  • This was classic Beatles "Hey, let's write a song about the Big Bad Commies and make fun of the whole ridiculous situation."

  • The irony is just to much.

  • Great song, great performance!

That's what we came on here for! Not to comment on things you have 'heard', or 'think' you know!

  • horrible .... he cant sing

  • @Diskobanger

okay let say you sound like Nikolai Gedda but would you get that respond?????

  • Anyone notice how after George Harrison died, Paul always sings . 'and George is always on my mind, instead of 'and Georgia's always on my mind'.

  • @metafis It sounds exactly the same. He could be saying either or.

  • фак всегда делали литве

  • @infofloor hahahaa

  • Fuck ussr, nice song btw.

  • For me it"s very funny to read several political comments about USSR))) It seems to me that many people learn World history from Holiwood films and comics. Go to school better ))) On 14 December 2011 Paul will gig in Russia for the third time and we will sing with him Back in USSR again, remembering 60s-70s-80s as very happy and kind life in Soviet Union (that;s also why crowd is so glad) . We again will be lucky on 14.12.2011))) Thanks, Paul, for visiting us!!!

  • Is that Jack White?

  • just great thats what it's all about

  • I think that's the best performance of the song in its whole history :)

  • But I love the Beatles ant it's the great song.

  • This song is great but it's quite not actually, because there is no communism in Russia now and it is the capitalism country.

  • @TheKailon LOL !!!

  • If I become a musician, I want to perform in the Red Square, and at Budokan at least once each, and I want to be good enough to feel I deserve it.

  • I live here, it is pretty much the best venue in history of concerts to sing THIS song. At least 100k, Red Square is HUGE, takes 10 minutes to walk across it..., gives you an idea how packed this place was. Plus the history of the surrounding buildings you see, is beyond words. Check out Pauls other songs from Red Square, this ain't a USA crowd.

  • Are you All stalin worshippers? Coz i heard that stalin was a bitch who killed millions of people

  • The Russians are the best freaking audience in the world. It must be an awesome experience playing over there.

  • red square never will die...Stalin

  • Oh look: the Russians have a sense of humor about their past. Some of them are even waving the old Soviet flag around.... Are you paying attention, Germany??

  • Almost 70 still rock'n'roll himself

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Anyone else get an enormous feeling of patriotism despite not being Russian?!

    Fuck, these guys are perfect.

  • @MrEthanhC I don't get any feelings of patriotism Rock and Roll is now international but I do get a feeling of togerness which makes sense as, although I'm British. My father was Polish (from the Ukraine lol) my mother was born in South African from Danish Parents and I'm still bashing my guitar in Prague at 69 and I, like Paul who's the same age as me, don't sit down when I play.

  • @MrEthanhC Yeah for sure

  • You can be sure that Lenin rolled over in his grave and then some Russian hippie kicked his ass. I own this DVD and I will never - ever tire of watching it. We in the West can never know what it must have been like to grow up in the old Soviet Union. To have Paul play Beatles music in Red Square is like having the Russians driving their May Day missile carriers past the Washington Monument. Unbelievable.

  • From Edomonton we have a large Ukrainian community and I loved this song and video. But wtf...they were showing Joseph Stalin in the video...he is a mass murder of kids!! are you kidding me!

  • @2427301 I think Stalin would have been furious - it's basically mocking him - Paul wrote the song at the height of the Cold War when the Soviet Union was supposed to be this big scary evil entity - and he was saying no, they are people just like us. Whereas Stalin wanted everyone to be afraid of the USSR. That's my take on it, anyway.

  • walking, talking history is Paul

  • Thank you Sir !

  • @tomcardello no, most of them look at least they are above 30.

  • BACK IN THE USSR!!

  • 22 R.A.P. shit lovers....don't know real music. I should feel sorry for LOSESRS, but I don't. Beatlea are the Greatest band ever and your R.A.P. shit will never come close to it. Because the Beatles are REAL music....YOUR GOD FOR LOSERS.

  • people are people everywhere...check out the homage to the beach boys in the chorus and the hottie at 1:03.....roll over joseph stalin and give paul mccartney the stage.....

  • Dont Quote me on this but i think thats Lenins Mausoleum right next door lol

    "turn down that racket!"

  • back in the Russian Empire...

  • Moscow Girs: Unsurpassables...

  • @MultiTyrannosaurus GirLs of course!

  • I saw and i heard the same theme, the same show the same magic and quality in LIMA PERU!!!! :D Yeah!!

  • 21 people have no ears.

  • only place to truly play this live

  • What a gig that must have been when he sang this song.

  • 21 capitalists hate Paul McCartney, Hate The Beatles and THIS SONG!

  • 21 capitalists heat Paul McCartney, Hate The Beatles and THIS SONG!

  • simply the best

  • Goosebumps!

  • paul blows my mind !!!!!! :) sitting hear with a shit eaten grin on my face

  • now I know the REAL reason behind the Iron Curtain..they didnt want us Americans taking a peak at their women. There arent many hotter than Russian women, although my russian friend says romanian women are hottest

  • @subliem7467 And the Moscow girls really knock me out

  • Anybody see that British flag out in the crowd?

  • De vuelta a la URSS !! Unión de repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas!

  • @MrMartbcn Pero en la canción es USSR

  • Comment removed

  • i can't believe that i've seen he live :D

  • Back in the Sojuz Sovietskish Sotsialistitcheskish Respublik!

  • Maybe Paul is old, but still having a younger spirit

  • @TheJorgeFilms Yeah, he's old but I bet he could score with a thousand eighteen year old chicks a day and every day if he felt so inclined.....how about you sonny?

  • @Maxshard <3

  • between liberalism and communism, nice haha xD

  • É FANTÁSTICO, EXTRAORDINÁRIO!

BEM VINDO, PAUL, AO RIO DE JANEIRO, PARA NOVA APRESENTAÇÃO!

  • Notice when MaCartney sings the line ' I've been away so song I hardly knew the place', he desperately tries to stifle a laugh when he sings 'place' and actually turns away from the mike to cover it up, because he can hardly believe how much the crowd is rocking along.

Regains his composure like a consumate pro, but reminds me of John Lennon trying not to laugh out loud when The Beatles played to the hysterical crowd at Shea Stadium.

  • love the girl at 0:40...

  • @Aleo987 Girl? Like Paul would say, "she's a woman"!

  • @Helmut83 is different?

  • @Aleo987 Well, people use to call them "girls" when they are less than 25 or 30 and "women" from then onwards. That one was well ahead her fourties.

  • @Helmut83 naaa i think max 30...however I like

  • @Aleo987

or the girl at 0:55 or the girl at 1:03 ...

In short, I feel a trip to russia is in order

  • @LIVINGONTHEDOLE and this morning I got tickets ... November 27 assago forum milan .... PAUUUULLLLLL

  • Thumbs up if you got goosebumps at the second "moscow girls" part.

  • @akagi30200 Your'e from Orlando, is that Texas and you think Lenin and Stalin, both mass murderers who would make Hitler blush are cool? What kind of left wing communist maniac are you?

  • @Maxshard

Orlando is in Florida. It is the most visited city in the world.

Lenin and Stalin were long ago and I did not see them at this concert. Nor did I see Hitler. MY guess is what you call a "left wing communist maniac" is a guy a little more knowledgeable than you and a bit less prone to extremism.

  • @RichardinJax Why not look up the list of the top most visited cities in the world before you make an even greater imbecile of yourself than you already have? Orlando isn't even the most visited city in the USA. i believe Paris is number one, followed by London. New York gets a mention. How delusional can you be? Are you another dumb yank who believes that the world consists of the USA alone, lol?

Oh, and it's 'a guy more knowledgeable than yourself', not 'than you'.Learn English Yank!

  • Not because you say so "limy".

Paris is a distant 3rd. Now, in your European experience Paris Rome and Barcelona are tops. For "tourist" destinations Orlando is it. I agree, I have no idea why. You mention Paris London and New York. ON a national basis France in Number one. USA two. The point I made is where the tourists concentrate. IN USA it is ORLANDO! IN France Paris, Provence and Normandy. The biggest tourist population in the world are the Japanese..and Orlando is their Mecca.

  • And you ask if I am "another dumb yank". I was reared in the Netherlands. I do live in the USA now..and we do not do your "queens English" here. We threw that out in 1789.

  • @RichardinJax America gained its indepence from Britain in 1776, not 1789 you idiot. Haven't learnt American history have you, so I doubt whether you have assimilated much.

I would say you should go back to Holland but you will find that it has become swamped with Muslims and third worlders. Whites are no longer welcome apparently and the Netherlands will fall to Islam, just as the USA will, because you are too collectively stupid to stand up for your dumb arrogant asses.

  • At 32 aeconds McCartney almost loses it and laughs because he can;t' believe the passion of the crowd. Bit like Lennon almost losing it at Shea Satdium.

  • I am a Canadian, yet to see the reaction of the Russian fans cheering about a song of them, written back when the Beatles never entered te USSR, I felt the feeling go right through me as they did. I love Russian women, met a Ukraine lady 10 years ago, and to this day we are still good friends, I been to Keiv, and we dated for two years, she even came to my home in Canada, but her family was back in Ukraine, but the is the memories and the fact we are still good friends and we talk often.

  • I feel bad for Paul, his two closest friends, John and George, gone :( At least we have Paul! Ringo is a drummer, hes not as good a soloist (I don't mean that offensively)

  • everytime i hear ANY live paul songs, i get goosebumps. it doesn't matter what song it is.

  • THE song

    THE place

  • It's hard to believe that just 12 years before this was performed, the Beatles and these types of songs were illegal. Oh how times have changed :)

  • how appropriate =))

  • How awesome must it be for those young musicians playing in Paul's band.

  • In Soviet Russia, Paul McCartney is still just as amazing.

  • Hands up, who else think Stalins rolling in his grave?

  • @Joesolo13 Is he? Let's shoot him!

  • @Joesolo13 He's doing cartwheels bro!!! LMAO!!!

  • @Joesolo13 probally not considering the song is glorifying the USSR.

  • @dane18owen ...not according to the communists hated them and called them somthing to the affect of "the vomit of western culture"

  • how do you think the 60's generations were so bleeping crazy and selfish....its because as children we were taught bomb drills how to hide under our desks....practise evacuations etc..I imagine USSR did kids too.... till 1989 I don't remember not expecting my life to be cut short by nuclear winter or direct bombardment.....you kids try enjoy and try to make happy...tired of all this jingoism...

  • SUPER

  • Of course he would sing Back in the U.S.S.R :))

  • This is incredible

  • the ladies dancing at 1:02 and 1:47 seconds would be worth a trip to Moscow - drop Red gorgeous- wolfetone427

  • Stupid images behind, the song is not about Stalin but about people.

  • Back in the U.S.S.R.... in the U.S.S.R. AWESOME!

  • For me this is where the cold war ended.

  • I miss USSR. My favorite part of history, especially when it has to do WW2. :3

  • I was there... Feeling like it was yesterday!

  • @MrReedyCat wow!!!i wish i was there too :x

  • @MrReedyCat you are so lucky,i would have had a blast

  • @mikemik712 And I did!:)

  • @MrReedyCat Man, thumbs up for you. That's one of the most epic claims anyone can have.

  • @MrReedyCat Wow you witnessed history being made there, congrats , it was and eceptinal performance by Paul &wings

  • @Timeofflux

You are mistaken. Soviet State = cool, the Soviet dictators (not all) = dog shit

  • it would have been better if all the beatles had been there.pauls band is good but theres somthing missing.

  • "Those who wait for the USSR to reject Communism must wait until a shrimp learns to whistle." -- Khrushchev

    Guess what that shrimp whistled?

  • @bscottb8

Gorbachev instead of shrimp has whizzed the USSR

  • Ha ha haha! Paul is wearing red! I know he did this on purpose! Hahahahah

  • Well, if all Moscow girls looked like "Anna Chapman", I'd singing and shouting too! ;-)

  • this song helped bring down communism because it lifted up the spirits of an oppressed youth!! thank you sir paul, a true world hero!!!!

  • Seriously... people are waving a communist flag at 1:15... thats jsut plain stupid... what ignorant people would support communism? i thought russians are smart besides "brave and sincre."

  • @starwarsfreak1111 the flag is iconic just like your dixie flag lighten up haha

  • @starwarsfreak1111 the easiest slave to control - is the one that believes he is free !

think about it - then look at the flag again . then look at the "freedom" you think you have ;)

welcome to the world of the realist ! your so "ignorant" - you did'nt even realise your own status .

wake up - the british and americans did'nt abolish slavery , they perfected it ! look up "its an illussion " by john harris - on you tube - of course . peace and wisdom to you .

  • @maythe4thbewithyou59 well your arguments do stand to reason and i don' deny that at all but what exactly did you think my point was?are you suggesting that the state of my people is basically the same now as it was when it was a communist state only in different colors?because i beg to differ.Maybe you should look into Communist Romania and Democratic romania as it "supposedly" is now.

Sure there is an illusion of choice but communism robs you of everything that makes you human. No exageration.

  • Moscow girl nr. 1:04 fuckin' randy!

  • The Beatles made this song like reaktion on invasion to Czechoslovakia 1968.

  • The Government =/= the people

  • I'm an American, and I have no problems with the USSR.

  • The effect this song had was interesting to the communist youth: "Wait... what's so bad about the west? They sound alright to me... " And it kind of brought the two cultures together to say that no matter what, they were still human.

  • In soviet russia, ussr re-visits you

  • This is not right without the rest of the beatles!

  • Wow, that otta be interesting.

  • TOTALLY AWSOME!!! NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT!!!!

  • 6.5 hours drive from Saint Petersburg to watch this, totally worth it

  • His whole career proves that he can not only make great rock songs but he can also make the most epic songs of all time. Thank you so much Paul for giving us such great music. :]

  • what an honor to performing in Red Square!

  • Back in The USSR is Right ! Russian Ladies Are Beautiful And There Are Scores of Them in the Crowd !

  • This was written as like a parody of the beach boys's California girls. I wonder if it was available in the USSR when most western music was restricted? Shame if it was.

  • @swestdartford It was not. The Beatles were so often snuk into the USSR that the government lifted the restriction and allowed all Beatles music in

  • i love russia, but i love the ussr more.

    greetings form the U.K

  • The USSR and BOAC have gone, but Paul McCartney is still going strong.

What strikes me most is the age of the audience - they're all kids (which is fine). Same as the audiences he drew with Beatles back in 1962.

If you're Paul McCartney do you think you'd have this sense of time mysteriously standing still? No matter how long he goes on performing, the girls in the audience stay the same age ... and they're still screaming for him.

    :)

  • Every Russian person I met was really cool and nice.

  • I remember seeing this on TV, and being completely blown away by its historical significance, and its absolute brilliance. The Russians are having a great time. Thanks very much Sir Paul.

  • Wow. Just Wow. Stunning moment in history!

  • Wow...russia has nice racks lol jkjk

  • I love Russian people. Really enjoyed my travels there. This performance in Red Square is mind-boggling in scope. There was a time that Beatle records in Russia were forbidden, only bootlegs possible. And here... is Paul McCartney singing this song in Red Square to the joy of this free crowd. Unreal turn of history that we have witnessed in our lifetime.

  • The song is a small piece of genius. The best of pop music. A profound simple idea juxtaposing the rock and roll idiom of Chuck Berry and the Beach Boys with the the obvious chorus that yes Russians love their country too. . . Example of how a simple piece of great art can do more than armies more than diplomats. . . . . . let me hear your balilikas ringing out come and keep your comrade warm. . . . Genius. . .

  • In Soviet Russia they dont bring sexy back...SEXY WAS NEVER ORDERED TO LEAVE!!!

  • Rock´n´Roll Music is something given by a higher instance and of course it can sweep away stupid ideologies. In the 70s even some musicians said that their own music could not do that - we have seen the proof against it later on.

Never get too desperate, have a bit patience - music solves it !

  • I like to see the so called musicans/singers of today (Beiber, Jonas Brother, Cyrus) attempt to rally a large audience like this!! Only people with actual musical talent could get that many people!

  • Proud of being Russian!!!!!!!! :)))))

  • What can I say? Great Band, Great Song and ofc Great Country..

  • Hail RUSSIA!!

  • This got to be the wet dream of rock stardom; millions of people jumping and screaming for your music. Thank God it was for Paul; at least he deserves it.

  • Ya" Russian Girls are Beautiful , I should know , Russians in Sacramento California.

  • Okay - there is propaghanda (? spelling) from both sides. As I said, my sister-in-law is from a communist country. she lived it. and she speaks the truth. it is a horrible system striping people of freedom - they are owned by the government. Much like we are seeing here in the US.

  • Are you old enough to remember when the Beatles started? They were banned from the USSR. Why - because they were considered to be harmful to the society. In fact, the Russian teenagers were not allowed to wear their hair cut like the Beatles or own Beatle Records! Yea, so much for communism. People who came from Russia to America - does not seem to have your same feelings.

  • @bealestcat That's a lie before they unbanned them (70's or 80's I forgot) you could listen to them.... you can get it off the black market ;)

  • My sister-in-law is from a communist country. If communism is so damn great - why do they have to kill people trying to LEAVE? Nobody is shot because they leave the US. America was founded on the idea of people being having the freedom. But some people like for the government to make decisions for you. And that, my friend, is the difference.

  • i wonder how much controversy this song made when it came out- in the 60's, the Cold War was at its peak

  • This should be the naional anthem for the USSR if it comes back!!!!

  • @harris3693 there is one problem. When communism ruled, the Beatles were banned from Russia. The government dictated no one could grow their hair like the Beatles and no one could own their records. The Beatles were poster children of the evil cultures of free countries. That is why this concert in Red Square is so celebrated.

  • @bealestcat true, but then again, no one every understood english as they thought the west might also spread propangada to their people!!

  • WE NEED THE ROCKIN USSR BACK,ENOUGH OF USA CAPITALISM!!!!

  • i wonder how many people were there

  • Return USSR,the full world need ur strong spirit,ur ideals, capitalism have no future,in USA are illiterates, and in Europe we dont have nothing, there isnt job,and banks hurt our savings, lets do a better revolution, with honour

  • Years after the Beatles were banned Paul shows up an plays and even President Putin showed up to listen to the concert- the Beatles and Paul truly are amazing!

  • to tell the truth Russians have a large soul. Their language is very huge full of many forms of words. Of course their living conditions are low level as the result of the soviet politic//

  • @upsalat2 I beg your pardon, if u ever saw the economic state before the collaspe of the USSR, their economy was actually greater than that of the USA's!!! their living conditions are low due to the russian mafia plaguing their major cities after the collaspe!!!

  • How COOL must have it been for Sir Paul to play to this song to these people in RED SQUARE????
