  • OMG! Brecker at 1:52. Thank you for posting this vid

  • for anyone whose heart broke when eric dolphy died, it's making me warm all over to swing along in my chair listening to these most worthy wailers, seeming exponents of the dolphy school of hard bop. that improvising together is so difficult to pull off well, it seldom happens by amateurs or pros, and here it's a gas. bravo and crank up the volume to indoctrinate the neighbors!

  • wow michael brecker is just beastin it like always!

  • Thanks for posting!!

  • Totally Priceless! What a great way to start off 2010! Thanks, Bret, and thanks to YouTube for not cutting it off at 10 mins!

  • 9:50 I'm loving the enthusiasm on the face of the bass-player.

  • That's Rufus Reid on bass,I was with him in the 604th AF band.Small world.

  • was he playing trumpet back then?

  • Yep...he was just starting to dable in bass

  • great! is there more from this concert?

  • I cannot thank you enough for posting this!!!

  • Michael Brecker is simply awesome! For me personally it's beyond all qestion that he was by far the greatest tenor player around. The progression he managed to make during his whole career is simply amazing, and his early death is a great dilemma, not only for myself but for jazz as a whole.

  • Great stuff, what tune is this?

  • there is no greater love =)

  • @Aiden057 There is no greater love.

  • Thanks to both of you and, "There Is No Greater Love" than the love of Jazz. :-)

Hi Bret, love this vid, three saxplayers -totally individual and different from each other- with a rhythm section who match everything, this is for me the way to play standards in the new century with an acoustic instrumentation!

all the best from Hannover/Germany --- David

  • one can never have too much sax!

  • im a trumpet player so i have to say this TO MUCH SAX

  • so, you don't like big bands then? :)

  • its a joke by the way ive got this on going thing in my school stage band about sax players

although soprano saxes do annoy me due to the lack of internation and the constant reminder of Kenny G.

  • Wow

  • beautiful, thanks JVG for posting!

  • Thanks JVG a great take
