@hogiesanKenobi Firstly, these are re-enactors, not professional troops. Secondly. In retreat, you ALWAYS expose yourself, to get away the fastest. And thirdly, fumbling on weapons IS hard not to do. You obviously have never handled a weapon properly. Especially when the adrenaline ruch hits you, you can have issues loading the gun, and guns are actually quite tempramental. They have a lot of problem when fired. Go back to Call Of duty if you think weapons are perfect.

I've field stripped a gun to fix it when the round had a problem. That's not fumbling with the gun. If you throw your equipment away, then what do you have to fight with when you are called to fight again (and you could be fined for that aswell.) You need to learn a lot about weapons. Stop thinking you know it all.

General tank practice was to only reverse out of an engagement if you were close enough to reverse into coverage, i.e: woods, forest, buildings. If not, you drove straight out but swung your turret around so that you went forward but had your gun facing backwards, providing retreating cover fire.
At least it looks like these guys are doing a show at their re enactment. I know a guy that want noone there at their reenactments. I just don't get that. If he want to ride his sidecar rig with the rest of us that's ok. I don't want to here his nazi wanbee stories

Way I see it, if a tank takes about 4 times as long to get out of there in reverse, it's mitigated if presenting your rear makes you ten times as vulnerable.
Even going at a snail pace would be better than the rear armour, because one/two rounds could blast that tank up.
If he was going backwards he could also use his barrel to shoot back at them. If you we're driving a tank would you show your rear armour which is most vunerable to any sort of projectile attack?

Although this looks very damn realistic and good and I am quite interested in the vast historical happenings in WW II, I kind of can not say I support this. Immagine some 50 million people died there. Every single one of them was loving and beloved and precious. I know that implementing tactics is a game and very interesting ... but I just hope that every man on that field bears it in mind that war is aweful.
I'm sure they know, they look old enough alright. I mean really, it looks so realistic in fact that some part of them must be afraid, if only on a minimal, sub-conscious level. That intensity should let them appreciate what it was like.
Yea, i was in a reenactment and had a rocket shot at me, an actual projectile came out, except instead of a rocket's fin, a parachute opened up and stopped it. It finally died about 20 feet in front of me. But it scared that "you know what" outa me.

Geez, some people on here are so critical. The only thing that bothered me was that the Tiger was retreating like it was advancing, when it probably would just start reversing instead of turning a full 180 and fleeing.

These reenactors try to entertain the public in a very small arena and at their own expence, also alot of the Germans were infact German, Duch and Czec reenactors not just English, I agree it was a bit of a cluster fuck, but thats down to a lack of organisation with too many diffrent groups involved in the battle, some good some not so good.. but at least they are trying to put on a good show and dont deserve to be slagged off .....

I'm not an expert in military tactics, but I don't see the point of that Tiger retreating while showing the back (the most vulnerable part of the Tiger) to the enemy and not firing while retreating. In a desperate retreat, the Tiger could just stay far to their own infantry because its range was higher than the American Sherman and keep the infantry engaging the enemy. In this case I think they would destroy some tanks, not that stupid retreat without fight.
Sry for douplepost but yea that dosent make any sense why that tiger shows her back armor, but actually it dosent matter a shit becouse allied tanks wont take out tiger so easily eaven if they fire its rear armor. Only wery few tanks actually could knock tiger out easily. And stantard M4 sherman needs to have 7 tank group so they have eaven chace to blow tiger, coz they are fast enough to flank it and fire rear armor.

Why is the idiot with a rifle strapped to his back firing away with his Luger? That is retarded, it has no accuracy at that distance. I know it is an reinactment but keep it realistic.
General tank practice was to only reverse out of an engagement if you were close enough to reverse into coverage, i.e: woods, forest, buildings. If not, you drove straight out but swung your turret around so that you went forward but had your gun facing backwards, providing retreating cover fire.

@rowleyac: The way many people would see it is this: re-enactment (and the same goes for airsoft too, because idiots like you pick on that plenty) is a HOBBY that people do for FUN and at the end of the day, they can go home and get on with their lives without being maimed or killed or mentally damaged. Being scared or cowardly doesn't come into it.

They do this as a hobby, so that the history is preserved and people don't forget the lessons of history, so those same mistakes are not made again. Way I see it, if a tank takes about 4 times as long to get out of there in reverse, it's mitigated if presenting your rear makes you ten times as vulnerable.

Even going at a snail pace would be better than the rear armour, because one/two rounds could blast that tank up.
If he was going backwards he could also use his barrel to shoot back at them. If you we're driving a tank would you show your rear armour which is most vunerable to any sort of projectile attack?

Although this looks very damn realistic and good and I am quite interested in the vast historical happenings in WW II, I kind of can not say I support this. Immagine some 50 million people died there. Every single one of them was loving and beloved and precious. I know that implementing tactics is a game and very interesting ... but I just hope that every man on that field bears it in mind that war is aweful.

Yea, i was in a reenactment and had a rocket shot at me, an actual projectile came out, except instead of a rocket's fin, a parachute opened up and stopped it. It finally died about 20 feet in front of me. But it scared that "you know what" outa me.

These reenactors try to entertain the public in a very small arena and at their own expence, also alot of the Germans were infact German, Duch and Czec reenactors not just English, I agree it was a bit of a cluster fuck, but thats down to a lack of organisation with too many diffrent groups involved in the battle, some good some not so good.. but at least they are trying to put on a good show and dont deserve to be slagged off .....

love it how the heavy armour retreats and the dude on the side car is going into attack.....get it right guys, tank would reverse back using coaxial mg 42 and 88 putting base of fire down, soldiers retreating back pepper pot formation under cover of mortar fire even then for the tiger and that ground force tobe on the retreat they would have to be facing such a massive force, the Germans were pretty bold fighters IMHO

I'm not an expert in military tactics, but I don't see the point of that Tiger retreating while showing the back (the most vulnerable part of the Tiger) to the enemy and not firing while retreating. In a desperate retreat, the Tiger could just stay far to their own infantry because its range was higher than the American Sherman and keep the infantry engaging the enemy. In this case I think they would destroy some tanks, not that stupid retreat without fight.
