The reason this trio was awesome was because of their defense. The bulls dominated because of their commitment to D. Jordan could light it up, and Pippen was right there behind him, but thats just offense. The things that really win games, defensive and rebounding, players knowing their roles, that is why the bulls dominated. And Jordan being the best closer of all time was the icing on the cake.
pippen was the best all around player they had.....he could do some point(great ball handling skills)....he sometimes played the 2 guard(he could shoot the 3 and had the jumper) and he mostly played small forward(his natural position) and sometimes played power forward(he was long enough to block and rebound)....and he was great at all of those positions.....plus he did a great job at defending those positions also......not too many players can do that
shit man. boston's "big three" aint got shit on this big three. rodman will outwork garnett in rebounding and defending, pippen would shut down peirce and score on him like nothing, and of course, MJ would just dominate like he always does.
I know it's been said, but Pippen didn't get nearly the love and respect he should've during his career with the Bulls. He was a defensive beast and almost as good offensively as Jordan, plus he was a world class athlete. Number 33 was a MONSTER.
Pip was great but to say he was nearly as good as Jordan offensively is an exageration dude. I think Rodman was the most under appreciated player in the history of the NBA. No one will come close to his offensive rebounding ever again.
I dont think Pippen was close to Jordan. He was great, but like Kobe, he is in that second tier of all time greats while Jordan is obviously in the top. They were a great trio though, the best trio ever. Over three years they went won 203 out of 246 regular season games and won championships in all 3 of those years. Thats crazy.
That was kind of my point. Recall that I said Pippen was ALMOST as great. Think about it: how many nights would Jordan drop 40 and Pippen be right behind him with 25+? It happened more than you might think; I don't have official numbers in front of me, but I'm sure someone's compiled stats like that. And, if Pippen and Kobe are in the "second" tier, that second tier must be comprised of MONSTERS.

pippen lacked jordan's spirit, heart and killer instinct. MJ was also the much better scorer. always thought that pip was the better defender though.

this is what i miss most back then. nowadays every offensive player believes that he gets fouled every single time they drive the ball. not like that here. still can't really blame the players. refs call such pussy fouls at times that players are used to getting every call.

That's because today's players seem to only play for the money, and the NBA is not as tough anymore because of the soft fouls called and the defense is weak.
At least we have Lebron he reminds me of watching Jordan, not game play because their game is totally different but when Lebron plays I expect to see something great.

The reason this trio was awesome was because of their defense. The bulls dominated because of their commitment to D. Jordan could light it up, and Pippen was right there behind him, but thats just offense. The things that really win games, defensive and rebounding, players knowing their roles, that is why the bulls dominated. And Jordan being the best closer of all time was the icing on the cake.

pippen was the best all around player they had.....he could do some point(great ball handling skills)....he sometimes played the 2 guard(he could shoot the 3 and had the jumper) and he mostly played small forward(his natural position) and sometimes played power forward(he was long enough to block and rebound)....and he was great at all of those positions.....plus he did a great job at defending those positions also......not too many players can do that

I know it's been said, but Pippen didn't get nearly the love and respect he should've during his career with the Bulls. He was a defensive beast and almost as good offensively as Jordan, plus he was a world class athlete. Number 33 was a MONSTER.

Pip was great but to say he was nearly as good as Jordan offensively is an exageration dude. I think Rodman was the most under appreciated player in the history of the NBA. No one will come close to his offensive rebounding ever again.

I dont think Pippen was close to Jordan. He was great, but like Kobe, he is in that second tier of all time greats while Jordan is obviously in the top. They were a great trio though, the best trio ever. Over three years they went won 203 out of 246 regular season games and won championships in all 3 of those years. Thats crazy.

That was kind of my point. Recall that I said Pippen was ALMOST as great. Think about it: how many nights would Jordan drop 40 and Pippen be right behind him with 25+? It happened more than you might think; I don't have official numbers in front of me, but I'm sure someone's compiled stats like that. And, if Pippen and Kobe are in the "second" tier, that second tier must be comprised of MONSTERS.
