EarthBound and Mahoujin Guru Guru? GENIUS CROSSOVER HERE.
Just... for anyone that cares... Mahoujin Guru Guru is an anime parodying RPGs with an emphasis on Dragon Quest. An unlikely 13-year-old hero from 'Plain Old Village' and a ditzy magic user go out on a forced adventure with tons of sexual innuendo and toliet humor along the way.
While I agree it shouldn't be at all like the series you listed, anime DOES evolve, and you are a fool if you do not see it. Watch more than the brand new series and you'll see what I mean.
Man.. the Mother series kicks ass, but I'm glad a series like that doesn't exist. A "typical" anime would suck nuts. It was a very crazy game, with a really crazy design philosophy, and if a show based on it were to appear it'd damn well better be something that does it justice. Not fucking bishi, or chibi, or Naruto, or Pokemon, or DBZ. Skip the J-Pop opening, throw out the big glittery eyes. It doesn't fit the feel of the game at all. Anime never evolves, it just updates periodically..
