  • Only new order is allowed to play this song

  • nice guy, great song but can he sing?

  • Sumner's vocals are horrible! Catch Hooky touring this year, he does a spot on job covering JD tracks.

  • The only band that i've seen that play slower live then on the album.

  • its cool to see some dudes traveling 30 years back in time by using a song as a time machine

  • If I saw this performance I probably would have been in shock my whole life!

    Wonderful performance!

  • As one who sees New Order and Joy Division as two completely separate music groups whose only tolerable crossover is Ceremony, I was horrified when I saw this title in the search. They nailed it. This is exactly how New Order should be doing this song. So good.

  • @Salsashark516 I completely agree..I was also horrified when I saw it haha.. but it wasn't too bad. Will always prefer Ian singing this song.

  • @blackclouds909 but Ian's DEAD. So prefer all you want... he's DEAD.

  • @01ersatz Thank you captain obvious.I don't know what part of my post insinuated that I thought differently...

  • Stephen "Human Drum Machine" Morris

  • there are two people with heads up their own arse-holes, cameron and clegg probably,( before anyone else says it ) or each others

  • there are two people not dancing to the radio.

  • nice but i prefer ian

  • touching from a distance all the time - how very poignant now , you can still picture ian windmilling away - magnificent song great rendition long live joy division

  • I SAID DANCE, DANCE, DANCE TO THE RADIO!!!!!!!!

  • There is something very fucking exceptional about this track. One of the greatest UK singles of the late 70's. RIP Ian - respect.

  • wow i do miss seeing ian singing this, but this is good too!

  • sadly they need the energy of Ian curtis to perform that kind of song :] anyways new order/joy division rules

  • Great many thanks. Just a couple of comments: it certainly took them a while to figure out a second guitar was needed live. And Barney sounds as though he'd actually rehearsed for the gig, which was not often the case in the past.

  • je suis né en 68 et joy division a été le"groupe" merci a new order!

  • @jimmyL88 true its the only way to bring it to people live and it gives it to a new younger audience, but you cant honestly be saying that this is as good as when ian is singing it. obvs its a mint cover and they sound so good together, but its just not the same without ian. i think i just dont like it because its not got him singing it coz it is actually a good cover. but i still think that NO shldnt play joy division stuff just coz bernard doesnt sing the same as ian.

  • Of course New Order can play Joy Division songs you wombat! They all the wrote them together, only folk who know nothing about JD/NO say that they shouldn't be able to play JD songs! Plus for us fans it's the only way to hear JD songs that we missed cause we weren't born then! I saw Bad Lieutenant before xmas do JD & NO covers, all great! Going to see BL again in March, can't wait. Sumner rules!

  • @gmtx12 im not saying new order are bad at all. they are their own amazing band in their own right. temptation is an amazing song, and substance is without a doubt an amazing album. BUT they have no reason to try and dig up old joy division songs, wich shld be left to lie as the best band in the history of musickind. wat im saying is that their versions of joy division songs without ian are weak because bernard's voice is nothing compared to ian.

  • Ian Curtis was a one off talent - cant think of another singer that could do the song justice - at the end of the day joy division is being brought to a new audience which is all good

  • I think Tom Smith of the editors can do it. they have very similar voices. editors are the only reason i got into joy division

    love them both

    :D

  • The editors are crap, how you can even mention them in the same breath as Joy Division I don't know.

  • wow

it was just an idea a bit of an over reaction dont you think. calm down and let other people express their opinions without loosing your head. no offence but i hate it when people abuse other peoples opinions. And if you read carefully without being engulfed with your hatred of the editors you would see that i love joy division.

  • ian was not a great singer bernie is the best ever

  • this is good, but they are shit without ian curtis. its kinda sad they tried to resurrect it without him, but fair play for trying and it sounds good, but its nothing without ian singing

  • @TpaparazziK mate do you know nothing about New Order? They went for 18 years without playing any Joy Division songs to establish themselves as a proper band. It was only after their reunion in '98 that they started to play JD songs again. And they aren't shit without Ian Curtis, as much a tragedy as his death is, they still made amazing tracks like The Perfect Kiss, Bizarre Love Triangle, Regret without him.

  • awesome version by New Order. And in some parts of the song its like I'm hearing Ian Curtis singing.

  • nada como ian curtis! esa voz no trae nada! :(

  • Chupala

  • One of my fave JD songs. Pete's bassline is amazing, and so is Bernard's guitar work, but I sure wish that Ian was singing

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck this band is tight.Morris and Hook unreal.

  • morris is the living drum machine

  • @cavdragoon and barney what ?

  • @Tincho730 true that. Barney is the man

  • TOO SAD so good MISS IN U

  • Beautiful performance, so much power in here!

  • Hooky is awesome..

  • wooow esta cancion me pone loco

hahaha quien mejor que new order

  • Ian Curtis is missing. :(

  • absolutely outstanding stuff

  • True, most punks are bullies and cowards.

Syd Vicious was a princess and I would have loved to see him get in a fight with the dude from swans

  • The term 'punk' is a joke.

Iggy Pop, Mc5 were living punk.

Sex pistols wanted to destroy music and blah blah blah but they were still playing the same fucking chords just faster. What's dangerous about that!?

NO WAVE = The True Punk Philosophy

Lydia Lunch would eat Syd Vicious for lunch.

  • Good call. My money would be on Arto Lindsay.

  • no weve... amen..

    mars, dna, esg

  • shure!!!

  • Although its still the same people from Joy Division, you cant beat the original! Ians voice makes Joy Division Joy Division

  • Manchester has produced some of the best music ever

  • Anyone know if the sprayed " DEE DEE "on Hooks amp a Dee Dee Ramone tribute?

  • Yes. Watch the Finsbury Park video for "Ceremony." Hook gives Dee Dee a shout out before the start of the song.

  • Was there, fuck me it was muddy!

  • U guys don't bitch, it's still the original members of JD. Who knows toplay this awesome music better than Hooky, Barney and Morris? Still loves it, miss u Ian.

  • Ian was pure punk. Music today needs him

  • mmmm what? he was a well dressed well mannered civil servant married with one kid!! thats not typical punk material is it??

  • Punk is not just loud guitars, I happen to think Heavy Metal is useless. Ian, in this original view on life and love, made him punk by being real. Not a hippie fake like the over-rated Beatles or hairy rubbish like Guns n Roses

  • So what is mastermind ? Enlighten us to the definition of a true Punk.

  • ok in fairness that is a good question well its.....SID VICIOUS that is punk ian cutis is post punk period

  • Sid Vicious was a fucking pain in the ass by all accounts. A bully and a coward wrapped up in the obligatory leather jacket. A hopeless musician and a junkie murderer. And you think that tosser is the definition of Punk ? If Punk was dead it would be turning in its grave lol

  • the fact he was a "pain in the ass", "bully" and "coward" is irrevelant, he IS GENERALLY regarded as the face of punk whether u like it or not, which is why his look vs the look of ian curtis are poles apart considering they hailed from the same era and died in that era for that matter as well

  • Ahh I see, we're discussing the 'face of punk' eh ? I didn't realise the superficiality of Punk was being debated. And there's me thinking we were discussing 'definition'. I suppose you could be right. His ugly mug tends to be used when Punk is under the spotlight. When you wanna discuss the infinetly more interesting definition of Punk, let me know.

  • to quote u howard u said "definition of A true punk" defining punk as a whole is far more complicated and not for utube

  • it must be weird for them to play this without ian standing in front of them

  • Ah. I appreciate the effort but this song is not the same without Ian's tortured soul and voice. A+ for effort though.

  • Joy is dead with Ian.

  • post punk?

  • uhhh not exactly punk , but better

  • pure fuckin' punk rock

  • does bernard have an autoprompt?!
