I took a collage making class. "Collages are supposed to be random...why take a class?" you ask. Well, it was all about teaching us to not care about shapes or sizes of papers and rip them and paste them. Then comes the "try to have a theme" for the collages, but FIRST comes the chaos that IS therapeutic.

Never have I heard a better excuse to fire up Photoshop for a little while sometime this weekend. I should do that, just to prove that even with Photoshop it is still possible (very possible, trust me) to make bad artwork. :)

though on a more serious note, i completely agree that theres nothing wrong with making some bad painting, but i think we should have some standard of objectivity in this chaos of subjectivity that we call "art". basically my idea is that if you have something that looks like a 6 year olds drawing from art class, feel free to post it on your refrigerator, but please dont put it on display at a museum.

I'm always stunned when people can see a deeper meaning in seemingly simple things; symbolism in a book, words with a double meaning, and in this case, bad paintings. You are officially one of those people i am so in awe of because of their ability to think outside the box, and see the bigger picture.
