when music started to become stale and every one tried sounding like every one else, then came UK! they were SUCH a breath of fresh air to music... PROG ROCK AT ITS FINEST!!!
have been listening to this track since the 70s and the intro still kills me. i play bass but wish i was a drummer that could play like this. just awsome and totally awe inspiring. they just dont make music like this anymore. musicians need to learn more about classical music and harmony cos its all about shitty technique now. all quantity and no substance.
Yes, Eddie Jobson is one awesome musician and UK was one of my favorite bands in the late 70's and early 80's. I really miss this kind of progressive rock.
Love what Jobson does with the electric violin on this song! The man can "shred" with the best of them. Am I hearing vinyl popping throughout the song? I first owned this on vinyl too - yeah, those were the days...
Yes, those were the days. 100 W per channel Yamaha amp receiving its signal from a Thorens belt-driven TT armed with a Stanton 681 EEE Mk III Cartridge, pushing the sound out through a pair of AR 94 speakers; all the while the neighbours are wondering what the HELL is going on. So good to find this digitized onto Youtube, where I can play it through my Intel HDA sound card and through my Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 Surround system in Linux. Hmmm ... isn't that a step back?
@rherbert57 yeah, that's a trip, because I used to say, "man, to get a rich, full grand piano sound(one sound), they (artists) started to midi 27 keyboards together!" hello.
this is like King Crimson minus RF and adding some late 70s cassette player pop

I saw them play this at Madison Square Garden opening for Jethro Tull in '79. It was stunning.

This song reminds me of PFM.
That violin bit with the off beat time sig.

I saw their show in LA June 2010, their performance of Caesar's Place Blues blew everyone away!!
Having a few key connections with VIPs I got to hang out with Eddie Jobson after the show!
Epic!

The intro is a Luscious piece of music, like a long cool drink of water, sweet as honey.
