I found this a very interesting and insightful course introduction. I would stress the introduction aspect, but it makes you think about the concepts and basics from a different angle, even if you have some experience or knowledge of film/video making. Worth the time investment, I appreciate you guys taking the time to put this together and for making it free online. Nice job.

Its called going to film school. The 5 C's of cinematography. Bruce Block's Visual Storytelling. David Elkins Assistant camerman's manual. I could go on and on about the pro's of education not via a web class... but in the end everyone will find their way! But Vincent knows why it truly is NOT about the gear. A trained and gifted filmmaker can achieve captivating beauty with a iphone. All the hype about technology is quite boring after even your mom gets her hands on a 7D from best buy.

Yeah it is funny that he's talking about how gear isn't that important when many of the shots looked as good as they did because of that profoto studio light, expensive car mount, helicopter charter(and all of the mounts and harnesses to keep you and your gear inside and safe). Some shots did have DIY-ness that wouldn't work with camcorders(lightbulbs, using available lights i.e the brake lights) but still...
