I have the utmost respect for Matt Bellamy as a musician. However, as a piano player, he is not very good. His playing is sloppy and lacks dynamic contrast. Plus 90% of the music he "writes" for piano is taken from compositions written by true piano virtuosos such as Rachmaninov (the other 10% is made up of simple chords and arpeggios which anyone with more than two years of classical piano training would know). Matt doesn't even play the hard parts of the songs he uses. He is no piano master!

Calling Matthew Bellamy a piano master is like calling Justin Bieber the king of singing. He cannot hold a candle to the greats of the past (Hayden, Bach, Rachmaninoff) or to true modern day piano masters (Vladimir Horowitz, Lang Lang). Look up Horowitz playing Prelude in G Minor. The composers of the classical era wrote music for themselves to perform, many times in front of kings. The composers I mention were the most accomplished pianists of their day, and Liszt is considered by many to be the best player of all time. I have also mentioned some outstanding modern concert pianists in other posts, all of whom are better than Bellamy.
