  • The irish goverment were laughing at him and looking down on him back then....how wrong they were

  • what did bertie say ? "They should go away and commit suicide" bertie should be strung up by the balls and beaten for a week...what a rat demon soulless , spineless fuck !!

  • To all the people who don't get the title, he is 'hated' because because an awful lot of people bought between the time he stated this and the burst of the housing bubble. Hate is a strong word, but that's an awful lot of people who feel foolish or are stuck in negative equity and it's hard to hear that they were warned. Think of it in the sense of 'don't hate me because I'm beautiful'. A lot of people 'hate' him because he was so, so right. Well, that and a bit up himself.

  • @shamelesshussy Thanks. I was about to comment to the same effect, but you put it well. The thing is that we can't afford to 'hate' people like McWilliams, because we desperately need more of them. I'll accept whatever flaws he has for that reason.

  • What year is this from....

  • He was spot on but sadly most Irish people are emotional not intellectual..

  • David McWilliams was spot on. The video title makes little sense.

  • Why would you hate him?

  • The so called bank /builder developer crash is a middle-class problem of which 40% of the houses in negative equity are owned by single career obsessed childless women,

very little of the profits made trickled down to the woking class.

I don't shed any tears for any of these middle--class pratts. They all went running to the bamks and voted in the most corrupt politicians....THRICE.

    They deserve everything they got.

    Fuck middle-class Ireland.

  • I dislike him because he's wrong about a great many things. My own Dad it was a bubble back then and he isn't an economist. Anyone with clear, independent thinking could see it.

  • I live in an 'Affordable Housing': a small badly constructed flat in a fleapit locality valued at Euro 275,000 in Spring 2007. I knew what I was getting into though. It still beat paying the same amount in rent for the rest of my life. How anyone couldn't have noticed how many multiples of their annual salary they were signing up to in a mortgage....................

  • It was obvious even before this speech that the housing bubble would destroy the country...most Irish people just didn't want to think about it.

  • Wtf who hates him? If McWilliams was listened we wouldn't have a mass exodus of our young adults and our children would not be born into a debt that was not of their making.

  • is he from county mayo???

  • He's a legend!

  • I always liked this guy and listened to his programmes,e.g. the Popes children....one of the reasons i never bought a house, along with my own insight at the time....i mean how could they keep building, seeing as we only live on a little island in northwestern Europe?!...i mean, look at the state of affairs now,Ireland will be scarred for a long time, but Greece is a whole other level. Fuck being a slave to the bankers for the rest of our lives!..WE ARE THE 99%.....remember that folks

  • why would irish people hate him after a truthfull speech like that ? he`s on the button.

  • called a looney for tellin the plain truth , waht a shame he wasnt in CHARGE of our little country, i returned from the uk in 1999 and i asked if everyone had lost d plot , and was told i was been stupid that the celtic tiger was unstoppable ,

  • He was absolutely spot on.

  • @roddyrodrodrod your clearly english

  • @MultiYeahx3 . what about my "clearly english"? what does this mean?

  • They hate him, because he was right, and nobody listened to him,and i can remember 10 years ago getting a letter for a car loan, which was small then,i burned it,and i burned all the letters for offering me credit cards, anything that offers Debt easily, burn it,forget about shredding, the banks do it on purpose, there is no such thing as job security,it is insane to weigh a debt against a job,i sensed something wrong, watching my neighbours buying new cars and houses on top of family life,LUNACY!

  • I'm looking forward to the next financial collapse. Ireland 2029, when we'll have to go to war to find food.

  • People like him were ridiculed prior to 2006. In hindsight these so called prophets of doom were correct.
