  • can someone answer why the wikipedia page of this battle and other websites say that this battle is called the battle of sharpsburg particularly in the south?

  • @SLwootwootUK - It is the simple reason that many Civil War battles are known by more than one name; one in the North, and one in the South. And some even have more than two name's; who knows why. The North tended to name battles for the nearest river or geographic feature. The South named battles for the nearest city. There are of course always exceptions to add to the confusion.

  • @SLwootwootUK And today when we talk about Civil war battles it just depends on who is talking about it what name they will use. I am wetting a book on the Maryland Campaign and I have decided to use the Union names because I don't want to have to name ever battle twice.

  • I just had the wonderful opportunity to view all seven of these parts. Wonderful. Great review. Thank you so much!

  • @Steve5123456789 there were 51, 000 CASUALTIES at the battle of gettysburg not 51000 deaths, "moron."

  • @ StonewallJackson26..

yeah man.. the terrain was so crazy you couldn't see people till they were right up on you. Lee could have held Sharpsburg even if dumbass McClelan had tanks.

Now if Grant were in charge..and had Sheridan as his senior Corps leader instead of Porter....man..There would have been 2 yrs less of the war. Grant sends 5th and 6th Corps across the middle bridge.. up the hill hurrahing into Sharpsburg..game over..slaves free..go home. :)

  • LMAO at 20,500,000.

That would have been like 40% of the country..lmao. You'd have never been born!

That what the Ruskies lost in all of WW2 though.. Or close to it.

  • I have been to Sharpsburg and all I can say is Antietam must have been utter hell. The field of battle was so tiny compared to that of Gettysburg or Chancellorsville. The lines of battle were so close during parts of the fight that soldiers claimed they could determine the color of their opponents eyes.

  • @Treniacblack Is that it??? Surely you can come up with something better than that.

  • 300 million years ago?Brainwashed by

    evolution's mad scientists!

  • @vrghiks I wanted to respond to your message, but I need to check with my local mad scientist first. They hate it when I say the wrong thing.

  • When it comes to mad scientists I can

always spot the devil's big lie.You see,I know the truth.

  • Brainwashed? Says who? Get me some proof!

  • @vrghiks What does the age of the earth have to do with if or how we evolved?

  • @astranine A good question for the mad scientists. They are forever more trying to quote how may million years old the earth without any proof of course.

  • @mappoprimo Acutally Gettysburg was a three day battle not one. And he number of killed at Gettysburg was somewere between 9000 and 10000 for the entire campaign.

  • @darmok4349 k, thanks for explaining :)

  • @mappoprimo The Union and Confederate forces combined didn't even make up 5 million. About 4 million maximum, which actually the Union "doubled" the Confederate forces with 2 million. Brings the confederate to 1 million.

  • @mappoprimo 20.5 million men died at Gettysburg? Davis must have recruited all of Europes armies just to die in that battle :P

  • @punhaze My bad, lol :)

  • @mappoprimo Lol are you retared the North army, and the south only had about 3 million men altogether

  • @mappoprimo 51 thousand died at gettysburg in 3 days moron
