Plus, the Dutch defender Boulahrouz lost his baby when he or she was born just before the match against Russia. (Coach Marco van Basten still selected him to start on the pitch) That and the fact that Russia had and still have some great midfielders and strikers. Russia won that match because they were better that day.

It is the combination of a really good atmosphere in the team, offensive football, fans who are always singing and partying like during carnaval (check Dutch fans on YouTube, it's amazingly funny). Sneijder, Robben van Bommel zijn daarentegen wel weer in top vorm. Bovendien zijn de Jong en Mathijsen ook heel erg gegroeid afgelopen jaar. Van Persie heeft een tijdje eruit gelegen, maar je hebt een goede kans dat hij er erg sterk weer uit komt. Vaak zijn geblesseerde spelers des te beter wanneer ze terug komen, doordat ze hebben kunnen rusten.
