  • i have a 1641cc 4to1 header c25 camshaft lil head work and dual 34ict carbs what main jet size should i run thanks i run her to 5500-6000 rpms

  • I need to replace my 1973 VW Bug's carb, what would you suggest for a single carb that will run nicely but will give the engine some kick??

  • @ldssoccer15 The Stock Pict 32 Solex Carb with the adaptor plate would be your best bet, for economy and performance. Thankd Pete

  • used to have dual carb single port solex carbs...OMG what a nightmare...too much trouble.

  • Hey i have a 1971 1600cc motor with those duals on my rail buggy and it runs really dirty when i go freeway speeds, it acts like it dosent want to go past 50mph. Any advice???

  • @militiawarrior08 The only advise I can give you from experiance---GET RID OF THEM... Pete

  • @swrnc thats what i was thinkin, do you have a progressive carb you would sell me or do you know where to get them cheap?

  • @militiawarrior08 Your best bet is a new one, don't go with a used, you'll regret it. Spend the extra buck and get new....

  • Man! straight forward and to the point! I like it.

  • thanks man i done took a 1776cc cookie lol but what u think bout turboin a bug? really like ya you tube videos by the way down to earth stright to point

  • hey man i want a fast bug right now i have a 1641 wit a 125 cam and progressive carb . was gonna build a 1776cc but i out ran one with my 1641cc i dont get it i run it to 5200 rpms and i smoked him what would u say would b the best street build around 110 120 hp thanks

  • @MrAdmin864 It's not really the size that matters, it's what you use inside it... Using the right crank, the proper cam for what you want, and the right heads. My engine has 041 big valve, Cima graphite 90.5 pistons, 100 engle cam, balanced rods, ect. The single carb runs great on my car with the engine I have, and my motor is NOT built for speed, it is built for highway driving, for traveling and good gas milage... Good luck. Pete

  • got me worried pete, as im typin this my 74 Ghia is getting a rebuilt 1776 dual carb installed...guy told me that duals help in the cold

  • @shythead11030 All I can say is what happened to me, ofcoarse Im running a 100 cam, which is made for crusing not racing, that might make a differance, check and see what size cam the guy is putting in the engine.. Pete

  • I totally agree with this dude! The progressive carb is the best fuckin set up for a vw. i get around 50 mpg on a 1600cc with electronic ignition and 91 octane.

  • Hi I have 68 Bug in the philippines I'm planning to upgrade for performance. I'm thinking of dual Carbs and some internals. But after I saw this vid everything has changed in my plans. haha. :) I need your help now. I would like to ask if where can we buy that carburetor your using?. and also please help me on what will I buy for my engine so that it will run fast and it will last long. Just a mild upgrades. please send me some advice in my email. fi_arlu_tz@yahoo.com. Thanks

  • @4IIX The best combo I have found for trouble free VW Engines is a 1776 CC with a 100 Cam, deck highth of .021 and the weber 2 barrell carb, Ive had mine for a few years now and have only had to change the oil.. Drivin it to California and back and to Colorado and Back, and haven't done a thing to it. Pete

  • I've got a beetle of my own... 72, just got her striped down because im going to restore it and was think of the motor, i was going towards the dual carbs until I watched this. What should i do for a card set up?

  • @igotstherm If your running a stock 1600 go with a 32 PICT and the adaptor plate, best setup made.. If your running a large displacement engine upto an 1835 cc, you can go with the setup I am using here, a single two barrel weber.. Take it easy and good luck. Pete

  • @igotstherm For stock applications use a 32 PICT single carb, if it's bigger use the single weber carb.

  • who gives a fuck !!!!! lol

  • i have dual webber 34 ict's on my 63 baja (1600) and honestly.........they are a bitch!!!!! any ideas on better performance carbs or would it be better to go back to stock carbs?

  • @Next2Nothing169 Honestly----go back to a single carb, less problems and worry free driving... FUCK THE DUALS!

  • Ace video buddy! Tell it like it is.

  • good video. I like your straight talking approach. No bullshit. great stuff. I got a 72 bug here in the UK that im currently getting back on the road. Im thinking of a double barrel weber instead of duel carb set up. Like you say i wanna drive it not look pretty.

  • @petrol4d And thats what it's all about---DRIVING THE CAR--Good luck and many miles of pleasure. Pete

  • hell yeah thats how texas boys talk bitch!! :)

  • So your from dallas or in dallas? know any good places close to here that i can get parts for my VW and other good little things like that haha?

  • @xxALBERTOxx123 Over in Grand Prarie a place called Qualitat Foreign Car Repair VW Specialists, Doug is the owner and he has everything and anything you need. His number is 972-262-8491

  • @swrnc Oh yeah! I've heard of Qualitat. I went but it was after 4 so they closed. thanks man

  • pete... YOURE THE FUCKING MAN!!! thanks for all the videos :D

  • Hey Pete,

My 64 bug starts hesitating and jerking when ever i drive it on low revs, how do i fix that?

    Thanks,

  • @loveanianimeme It depends on what kind of carburation your running, it could be your timing or your card adjustment. If your running duals, the carbs might not be sinked right, and if your running a single, it's running to rich. Either way it's your timing adjustment or your carb adjustment. Pete

  • @swrnc

I have a stalk 1200 engine and stalk carb, Thanks a lot Pete =) keep up the good work!

  • @loveanianimeme It sounds like your carburetor to me. Have you given it a good tunup lately? Valve Adjustment, Points Change, Rotor/Cap, Spark Plugs, Plug Wires,Fuel Filter,???? Do an overall on it, and it will run like a champ.. Take it easy. Pete

  • @loveanianimeme mine does the same and has dual carbs to. Youacceleate and just let go of the accelerator and it jerks??

  • I've lost count of how many times I've watched this now. Funny as F**k! I have a '70 bug that is held together with spit, snot and gaffer tape so there is a very real chance that I may actually die in mine ;0)

  • @TheAndygt Ill say a prayer for ya---God Grant Me the Serinity To except the THINGS I canNOT CHANGEEE----Good luck Pal.. Pete

  • this guy is badass... he's like Billy Bob thorton but coooler

  • Pete, you are my friend, you're the only guy on the internet who tells it like it is because you're a proffessional. And not one of them computer proffessionals! Now I know not to waste my pound notes on crappy carburetteurs. Take care dude

  • Damn a lot of Fuck.... LOL

  • i was down with this till i realized how often he says "..ok?"

  • =0 i had dual carbs in mine but it was makin my car run rough. so i got them out put a stock carb, and now its running way better.

  • hey pete im 16 and i got a 1970 vw and it seems to be running really rich and has a huge dead spot when you try and rev it up and i decided to buy a new carb for it cause the one on it is pretty old and i hate the dumb ass auto choke thing it has anyways i wanted to know ur opinion on what carb to get

  • I love the cool jazz and the anger issues, yin-yang thing going on, I get angry just checking my tire pressure, and my car has a tire pressure monitor.

  • Pete.. you rule sir.

  • dude ill take those carbs!!

  • Pete you are so funny dude, I watch all you videos, I'm 16 and I am restoring my own vw beetle which like you I will never get rid of It. I just have a question, when ur going to butt weld a panel on do you use the step down tool ?

  • @MrVWT No, butt welding means you you put them togeather end on end and weld it up, if you use a step down tool, you overlap the to panels. Pete

  • dude. lose the attitude. you sound like a douchebag. you might get your point across better if you chill out. quit throwing the F-bomb around. you might actually sound respectable then, because you do actually sound like you know what you're talking about. cool bug by the way .

  • you are a Very smart man i love the way u explain things in all your vids THIS IS A GOOD INFORMATIVE VIDEO YOU CAN LEARN FROM THIS VIDEO THANKYOU PETE!

  • I tried Redline Synthetic in my bus tranny- I agree w you dude- waste o cash. Actually gave me a crunch into 2nd!! Back to good ol GL4 dino oil and problem solved

  • From 4:12 to 4:27 .... that kind of nails it Pete. That's what I like with you and your ways in handling things. There are all to many "gurus" or "MrKnowitall" out there claiming to have knowledge (in almost any field of work) when the fact is that they are only simulating this and at the same time spreading confusing and misleading information.

    Good work my friend.

Thanks for sharing with direct and hands on advice.

    /mtm

  • GO-90 back in my Army daze. stinkin' thick chit it was and no doubt still is. question for ya Pete....does the VW manual tranny have a vent??? I remember clogged vents causing blown seals and that smelly stuff coming outta places it wasn't supposed to come out of. thanks -mac the Arlington lawnmower guy

  • That linkage is SHIT, I have that exact same one.

The problem with it..... the brackets on the outer ends are die cast aluminum and there not TIGHT. The setscrews land in the middle but they still rotate left to right....

Try it, Tighten them out. Put your hand on it and move em left to right.... Thinking about cutting the hex bar and installing a key way to hold them SOB straight.

  • I like this guy....lol

My oil pressure is normal (10psi/1000rpm), after the little fucker warms up after 180 deg. the pressure drops like 8 psi. Any ideas, oh and I'm getting oil coming out of the oil breather....

Good story on the oil..... you the man PETE... Your one bad motha FO.....

  • "...get buried in my volkswagen" LOL

  • Great video as ever. Transmission oil chage- I'd take the filler plug out first, just in case it won't come out after you've drained the oil.

  • A lot of excellent tips in this one Pete. I guess you can always have trouble getting multi-carb set-ups in sync, whether it's linkage or some other issue. Staying with the single 2BBL definitely eliminates some potential problems.

  • What your saying, and one of my all time favorite expressions is.........

IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah I almost forgot neighbor Steves son had a bug, man that was around 10 years ago has it been that long already? Fun to re-live memories one at a time. Wish my friends drove cool cars, but no they're all gay. Randy's 92 Geo Metro 4-door is as cool as it gets. As least my new neighbors son has a taste for cars.

  • Hey Pete, good advice.

  • Pete, Nice Ride!!
