Get a new one!! Servis are pretty good, we had one from when i was about 4 till i was about 10. Even then when we threw it out it still worked, the only problem was that whenever we used a black wash, it made a loud noise.. which was weird..

@marthalover4ever They ordered thousands of machines to be 'exclusives' only to them and at the last minute after they were built and ready for shipment they cancelled the order. This cost servis a huge amount of money and so finished them off in the appliance market for the second time. Plus the owner of Servis was the brother of the owner of Indesit and they have fought for many years. But now much of the Indesit/Hotpoint ranges are made with sub standard chinese parts BEWARE

Have to agree mine has broken three times and yes its only 12 months old. Hotpoint has lost their way big time in my opinion. Wish I bought a different make. But hey I bought their warranty so now its still their problem... lol gottcha!

If you got it here in the UK, then I would definitely go for the Sale of Goods Act. Try and document as much as possible, take loads of videos as evidence, write to them explaining the complaint and what you expect. If they don't replace it then I'd go to Trading Standards. Oh, and never buy a "British" machine again.

If replacing, then I would seriously recommend Miele. They are expensive but def worth it plus they last at least 20 years.

@ftolad Asko (from Sweden) is another nice brand, and not NEARLY as expensive (but they don't have "bellows" in the front) as Miele.

@ftolad As an Ex-Miele engineer they arent as good as you may think i have written of over 30 machines this year with major electronic or motor faults. They have cut corners like ALL manufacturers all because the public want it cheap as chips off the internet.

@tom2249 AEG is alrite... only problem - if it does for some reason go wrong, its expensive to repair and often companys wud rather give u a new washer than fix it on warrenty, =)
