A tire wouldnt be able to support the weight of the vehicle on 3" spikes even if you have 100 on the tread "foot" By the way, they are called studs and the are not street legal and get no traction on dry pavement. Technically yeah it is logical, snowmobile tracks can support studs. Not getting into the whole "oooh tires are round and hold air pressure". I can guarantee you that if you took a tire and put screws coming out of it, it would hold. Seen it done plenty of times for quick repairs.

Yes screws can by used to fix a tire and can go into a tire and still hold air but a 3" screw facing outward is wrong. The previous tires that I had before my toyo had predrilled dimples for studs. The largest stud I've seen is about an inch.
