I had a 4250 Magellan and don't have too much complaint about it. The only thing I don't like is their power up button. Sometimes it takes so long to power up. I don' tknow why but it gets really frustrating. Their POIs are very nice and their maps are easy. The system is sometimes sluggish but otherwise it's not bad. I have used the Navigon GPS and the Magellan is much easier to use plus it has more things.
if u r thinking of purchasing Magellan GPS. DO NOT DO IT> I can save u time and money and wish someone has told me that before I spend $400 on this junk. nothing but problems and their service is nonexistent. jsut try and find even troublshooting on their site. garbage company and I will never get Magellan again
If you plan on purchasing a Magellan be warned that they do not and will not service your unit. We have tried to contact them for service for our unit and have not recieved any help. The service department is the worse. DO NOY PURCHASE A MAGELLON! They have the worse service.
The whole point that makes voice command great is that you can find a place while driving and don't have to risk an accident by entering information. How often would you need to enter a completely new street address while driving? Now, how often would you need to find a nearby gas station/ATM/pizza place while driving? Exactly! Its more practical to have voice command in this way than the TomTom Go 920 way in which you can ONLY say street address commands and not POI commands like the Magellan.
I had the 920 and returned it, the voice command wasn't really very helpful. POIs weren't consistent, bluetooth and FM streaming was crap, PITA to upload pictures/music, the only thing I like about TOMTOM is the map share, you can constantly get updates for free. But with that said, I think I'll end up buying a Magellan or Garmin.
How do i change the the state? I am in M A but it says i am in kalafornya.

Question: Can you use this voice command when the music is on? If yes, how loud? I can't drive without listening to music/radio.

In order to activate the voice command you need to say Magellan. As long as the radio is not saying that word, then it's ok.

Magellan still does not have way to input address using voice command! TomTom has it.
