Why does it say 'Playing at Bedford Corn Exchange'? Pretty sure the Jam split years and years ago lol... shame though I live in Bedford and would love for it to be true!
@R9Joshy you shoud've been born in 1965 then you would have bloody loved seeing the best three peice group ever singing lyrics that really meant everthing that we has young youth were thinking and being ruled by greedy self centred politicians know different now enjoy the jam understand the lyrics and your there from the holloway mods 1978
lots of youngsters saying im a mod n im 14 fuck im a mod and have been since 78 never got into the punk thing as all they're birds were fuckin horrible
@tony671 lol i was introduced into the mod scene wen i was 14 by my dad, got out of it for a while but i kept the scoots, but now ive gone to uni iv been drawn back the scene, n' u noe wat .. i feel and look better than nearly every1 here. love the 60's music but love the revival hits as well.

mods? skins? what else? rockers? this was 1977 not 1960's, I was 21 it was all punk/new wave. Though they looked like mods, who gave a fuck, they made amazing music.
that made me 13 when this was out, skins was better than you posh mods,i had me parka pinched up the laundry so turned skin, madness specials all that stuff, bring them yrs back, wat choices the kids got now?
liverpool royal court 1982 , good days, top bands, footy madness, rivarly, kicking off, glad i wasyoung tnen. who remembers , merseyside lads.....................
we need more bands like the jam now im 14 loveing this stuff and i am a bit well really a lot of a mod and i think we need more bands like the who,the jam, and over mod bands and SKA bands now,i onley like about 4 new bands/singer what are parampore, frankmusik, when is the end, and lover for life. the two end ones are small bands what have not made it big yet, bit we need to bring back people and bands like david bowie, the jam,SKA bands,Bob Marley, and over people
One of the best songs ever... end of.. .... The lyrics just summed up the late 70's early 80's the jam spoke for a un -wanted generation.. or am i being a silly old 40 something just trying to hang to my youth thats becoming distant memory ?????????? PS Weller ur a genuis
@deadxkorps he only has a fiver on him, he is down in the tube station late at night and he is taking home a curry, I would have presumed that someone of the middle to upper classes would be more affluent, take a taxi and steer well clear of the tube late at night circa 1979. and would not have been seen dead anywhere near a curry house until it became trendy in the mid to late eighties
Wellers lyrics so special "they smelt of pubs n wormwood scrubs not to mention too many right wing meetings" mind you dukeofsnatch you get materpieces every week on pop idol!!!!
Great lyrics by Paul Weller, at a time when Britain was experiencing abject poverty, stark unemployment, riots on the streets, known now as Thatcher's Britain... The Right Wing of England was swimming in money, while council estates fell to bits, but at least we had music like The Jam. I wonder will Cameron's Britain be any worse ?
Classy song. Nothing wrong with "black rappers that just talk about complete shit!!" though. You just have to avoid the ones of the fiddy cent variety.
i love this stuff im 14 and a mod and a hate most of new music all i like what is new is frankmuisk but ok im a 14 yar old mod and so is my girlfrends we have been going out for 2 yars next week 2 yers of her dad not knowing we cant tall him because he is a rocker and he hates her being a mod but if her boyfriend was a mod he wood go man ); wat is bad becaus i am a mod
@giffolew i like how you threw sublime in there - i don't see the need for every fifteen year old to jump on every video from 'the jam' and post how ahead of their age group they are
'there is a teeny little voice at the start of this song. what does it say?'
Its a little girl saying to her mother "yes its coming" as the tube train appears in the tunnel. Seem to remember Paul Weller was asked about it in an interview, as they recorded the noise of the train the little girl shouted but they left it on the tape, anyway.
Amazing to think that now she maybe almost 40 years old!
One of the most brilliant songs ever written - a real story. I have to say I'm loving today and all the Weller songs. I was privileged enough to go to final Jam gig on the bus with the band (how old am I??!!!!) BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!
join the club! i'm 18 was like you when i was 13 mate love the Jam cos my dad listened to it constantly when i was younger so in a sense i grew up with it too. watch some of the lambrettas, secret affair, tyhe kinks and the who on youtube you will lve it!
