Alexi Laiho is now officially the most overrated and sloppy guitarist on this earth. I've been playing the guitar for about 5 years now and I can outdo this guy any day. @PowerofJohras there is no way you would ever beat alexi. i watched your video and its not that bad but doesn't come close to alexi's skill. and the reason he has no neck pickup is because the he doesn't need it. a lot of guitarists (including me) will use the neck pickup during difficult speed runs or sweep picking to make it easier and sound much smoother. seeing that alexi doesn't have one that shows a lot of skill.
@14xJake i dont see how a neck pickup would make something easier to play and better sounding i think bridge pickups sound really good at fast runs ( to be honest i hate neck pickups i rarely use them)
@mc2alfawolf it doesn't really make it easier but when i play i think it sounds better because the notes aren't as trebly and when sweep picking they don't ring out as much. but its all personal preference.

@GuitarSean5153 The subject of music is extremely subjective, as I assume you know. Obviously, Alexi has spent a great deal of time becoming very proficient at the instrument(though he can be downright sloppy on occasion) so it really comes down to whether you like what he does or not. Therefore, in my opinion(and thousands of others) Alexi IS a guitar god. His songwriting is brilliant and there are only a handful of guitarists around today who can compete with him.

Alexi has gotten pretty sloppy live recently, and he even admitted to being lazy when it came to practice around '07, where he REALLY sucked live.
Recently, though, his live playing's gotten better. But he's still not quite as clean as he was during the early 2000's.

im tired of people talking shit about alexi, it annoys the hell out of me, too whoever talks shit about him, try being half as good as him, try composing music, be the vocalist and lead guitarist of a band like children of bodom, do a cover of any bodom song doing both lead guitar and vocals, try to be recognized by many other guitarists as talented and amazing, alexi is one of a kind, no one can do his job but him

@FieryGuitarDooD Dave Mustaine was the lead guitarist of megadeth in the early days until Marty friedman was hired in 1990...from there Dave took the role as a rhythm guitar player, mostly..but Dave still does alot of lead work for Megadeth right now..Dave Mustains in no way is a shredder, he is much more talented Rhythm Player and maybe the best or second best guitar player in Metal for sure...

i dont know why people always talk shit about alexi, first of all, if all your going to do is talk shit dont watch the video, secondly hes playing on a bridge pickup, most guitarists use the neck one so their mistakes are not obvious (i use it). alexi is a really great guitarist, he isnt all hype like others, for example: people always tell me synyster gates is the best, i like his guitar work but i watched a video of an improvised solo and it was awful, alexi has talent
